In the world of K-Pop, the words Underrated/Overrated get thrown around more than idols changing their hairstyles. In this week’s Staff Picks, we thought it would be fun to pick 10 idols who we thought were underrated in the industry, whether it’s with their music, their dance, or their humor.

Rainbow – Jaekyung
The group itself is underrated and so is the leader. This girl can sing, dance, and she even studied Fashion at Dongduk Women’s University. This beauty also tried her hand in acting through jTBC’s drama Monster. Like her group, she definitely deserves more attention. Check out her dance moves below!

After School – E-Young
When people see E-Young, a lot of people think, “Oh, it’s another new After School member”, or maybe even “She doesn’t fit the image of the group”. While it’s true that E-Young’s cute, girly looks are less fierce than the other members, E-Young doesn’t lose to anyone in terms of talent. Did you know she can play the guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums, piano, flute, and cello? Listen to her jam on the drums below!

M.I.B – 5Zic
You don’t see M.I.B much on variety shows, and they’re pretty much still rookies, so it’s hard for people to realize how funny these guys are. All of them have a great sense of humor, but 5zic can be funny without even trying. Check out a hilarious clip below with him trying to argue that whatever he’s trying to buy is too expensive – all in hilarious English.

miss A – Jia
How many people knew Jia can dance? Most people only associate Suzy with miss A, but Jia can hold her own, especially in dancing. She was one of the hand-standers in “Breathe”, and in “I Don’t Need A Man” she even has a dance solo for herself. And we’re not just talking sexy dancing as in shaking her hips – we’re talking legitimate hip hop. She’s the one in the white mask below.

Block B – Taeil
In a group that’s heavily slanted toward rapping with 3 incredible rappers, the vocal line tends to be unintentionally shunned. It doesn’t help that Block B usually promotes songs that have barely any vocal lines. Even though Taeil is the group’s lead singer, he has frightfully little lines. In fact, most non-BBCs don’t even realize he’s the lead singer and just know of him as the ‘short one’. However, he has a vocal ability that’s respected by all the Block B members, especially by leader Zico who constantly fall in awe of the leader singer’s voice. Thankfully, Taeil had a solo song in Block B’s official album. Listen to it below!

U-KISS – Soohyun
U-KISS as a whole is underrated, especially with the level of skill they have in their choreography and live, and even how good they are on variety shows. However, their leader and main singer tends out to be pushed to the sidelines more than he ever should be. Non-KISSMEs really got a look at his explosive vocals with their hit “Neverland” where he perfectly belted out note after note, but he was pushed to the sidelines again for “Stop Girl” because it was a quieter song. Not only so, he tends to get overshadowed by members Dongho and Kevin, especially because Kevin himself has an amazing voice. But still, here’s to one of the best singers in K-pop.

4minute - Gayoon
Even though both Jiyoon and Gayoon are highly underrated in what is jokingly called ’4Hyuna’, Jiyoon had a chance to prove herself at singing on ‘Immortal Song 2‘. It’s a shame Gayoon is so overshadowed in the group, because she has an amazing voice that she knows how to use. Even in 4minute songs, Gayoon is given not much more than a long ad-lib note, and even that had been given to Jiyoon in “Volume Up“. Even worse, “24/7” does nothing for her incredible voice, where the only thing she gets to do that’s remotely impressive is a short adlib note where everything goes silent. You can listen to her actually show off her skills below. If you don’t want to listen to the whole thing, start at 2:15 and listen for about 15 seconds, but I really do suggest listening to the whole thing.

2PM – Junho
The most talented member in 2PM sadly happens to be also one of the least popular. Even though Junho isn’t the main singer, he has a better voice and control than Jun.K or Wooyoung do, and he is definitely the best dancer in the group. He acknowledged his getting overshadowed before, saying that even though he had done complicated double flips, Taecyeon’s shirt-tearing completely overtook his own dance moves. Check out his dancing below! He starts seriously dancing at the 0:21 mark.

Wonder Girls - Lim
As the newest member of Wonder Girls, Lim is often pushed aside from the spotlight because of her bandmates with a fan foundation. Lim is probably the best dancer in the group, but she doesn’t get to showcase that because Wonder Girls is more about easy, catchy dances that everyone can follow. Since she was raised in Hong Kong, she can speak English fluently, and can also speak Cantonese and Mandarin. She auditioned for JYP Entertainment through her dancing, and here’s a clip of her showing off how well she can dance. (With Fei and Jia as a bonus).

South Korea defeated Japan 2-0 in the bronze medal match at the 2012 London Olympics. After the victory, celebrities turned to their Twitter in celebration.

Among the celebrating artists was B2ST leader Doojoon who wrote, “Ah….our Olympic team…. worked so hard… We wonnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!“, while MIB‘s 5zic wrote, “I really got emotional, you guys worked so hard,” and charismatic rapper Simon D chimed in to say, “South Korea Soccer Bronze Medal!! So proud!!”

Rookie group C-Clown‘s Barom also expressed his overflowing pride tweeting, “We were running with you in spirit!! Our South Korean team and coach Hong Myung Bo, you guys worked so hard. Amazing!!!!:) kekeke,” but it was Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk that had the best reaction. Shortly after the game ended, Eunhyuk tweeted, “Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah I’m really going to cry seriously daebak I’m going crazy Ah I’m tearing thank you to the players, ah ah ah really meaningful medal T_T more glorious than the gold medal T_T you guys worked so hard thank you ah really this is great Ahhhhh.”

As promised, this victory allows the South Korean soccer players exemption from mandatory Korean military service.

Hip Hop group MIB is preparing for their second attack.

On April 5th, MIB will be returning to the K-pop scene for the first time in five months, dropping their new single “Celebrate” as well as the MV through various online music sites.

The boys devoted themselves to this album more than ever before, attempting new styles of music and further developing their musical talents.

Their new single album ‘Celebrate’ has already drawn attention from insiders in the music industry, as it features Korea’s greatest hip hop artists Tiger JK, Yoon Mirae, and Bizzy who all willingly volunteered to participate in MIB’s newest project.

Not only did they feature in the tracks, they also offered their advice and assisted with everything from creating a concept and producing the album, doing their part to help create a high-quality product.

In their new title electro hop track “Celebrate”, the MIB boys showcase their outstanding rap skills in the midst of a fresh melody and a trendy beat line, and the lyrics that express the care free attitude of a man who celebrates after receiving news of a breakup is the highlight of the entire song.

Ahead of their comeback, fans are further anticipating their return after viewing their teaser footage on Mnet‘s ‘M! Countdown‘ and SBS ‘Inkigayo‘, and the boys will be releasing the MV and the audio to “Celebrate” at midnight sharp. The MV was directed by director Oroshi who expertly captured MIB’s uniquely fierce musical colors with his techniques.

MIB is once again proving their musical abilities, self-producing their new album ‘Celebrate’ after also self-producing their debut album last year. MIB, made up of 5Zic, Cream, SIMS, and Kangnam was created by Jungle Entertainment, the label home to Korea’s greatest hip hop giants Tiger JK, Yoon Mirae, Bizzy, Leessang, and more. The boys’ talents were acknowledged by both will.i.am and Far*East Movement who invited MIB to perform on stage with them on separate occasions, and the members have also been selected to be represent Korean artists at the ‘Music Matters‘ event to take place in May.

Established hip hop icon MIB is also broadening their horizons, as the members are starring in reality program, ‘MIB’s W Military Academy‘, and member Kangman has been cast in tvN‘s sitcom, ‘21st Generation Family‘.

Their new single ‘Celebrate’ drops April 5th at midnight, and the boys will be performing their first comeback stage on Mnet’s M! Countdown.

Hip hop group M.I.B will be trying their hand at a reality show for the very first time since their debut.

The members of M.I.B are the newest focus of  Mnet‘s ‘W Military School‘ which aired its first, 2nd season episode March 21st.

Different from the format of traditional reality shows that follow celebrities’ every move, the program will feature the boys 5ZIC, Kangnam, SIMS, and Cream who enlist in ‘W Military School’.

The boys will be taking classes for 8 weeks to learn about how to become the newest leading forces in Hallyu. M.I.B will be working to master the very know-hows of today’s top ‘idol stars’, but it doesn’t come easy for the boys who are ‘hip-hoppers’ to the bone.

Last season, idol group Boyfriend charmed the audience with their youthful and fresh image, but this season with M.I.B will be shockingly different. The boys who are unexpectedly playful will offer big laughs to the viewers, showcasing a completely different side of themselves.

M.I.B who has been selected as the newest students of ‘W Military School’ is a four-member hip hop group created by Jungle Entertainment, the label home to Korea’s top hip hop artists such as Drunken Tiger, Tiger JK, Yoon Mirae, Leessang, and more. They are set apart from other rookies and their polished talent has been acknowledged by major artists such as Far*East Movement and will.i.am who have previously invited M.I.B to stand on special stages with them.

Fans’ expectations for the new show have been increasing by the day, and the boys remarked, “It’s a bit of pressure to star in an independent reality program but we think it’s a good opportunity for us to showcase our unique appeals to the public. We will work to appeal to the audience with our honest and down-to-earth personalities.”

‘W Military School’ starring M.I.B is scheduled to air every Wednesday at 6:00PM on Mnet, and the boys who are receiving much support from their labelmates will be making their comeback April 5th!

SingerLyn has unexpectedly dropped a new album, and it looks like hip hop group M.I.B‘s skilled rapper 5Zic has lent his voice for her new song, “Blood Type AB Woman“!

Lyn who is known for her sensuous ballads has covered a wide variety of genres for newest release ‘Love Fiction‘, and 5Zic’s smooth rhymes in this new track will have you doing some shoulder boppin’.

Hip hop group M.I.B will be standing on stage with world-famous musicians, Far East Movement.

M.I.B will be the opening performance at the ‘Highlight Festival 2012‘ to take place at the Sheraton Grand Walker Hill Hotel on December 31st.

This is the first year the ‘Highlight Festival’ is being showcased, and it is an indoor hip hop and electronic festival in which Far East Movement, Jay Park, DJ Sebastian, and BeatBurger will be performing, as well as DJ YUP, IDIO TAPE, DJ FEADZ, DJ Justin Michael, DJ Virman of Far East Movement, and more.

M.I.B will have the opportunity to perform alongside some of the world’s best acclaimed hip hop musicians. The fact that the rookie group has been invited to the event despite debuting only two months ago proves that they have been highly acknowledged for their polished musical talents.

Made up of 5Zic, Cream, SIMS, and KangNam, the group was produced under Jungle Entertainment, home to some of the best Korean hip hop artists such as Drunken Tiger, Leessang, Tasha a.k.a Yoon Mirae, and more. With their debut song “G.D.M“, the boys put on intensely charismatic performances on music stages for the past two months, garnering attention for their strong star presence that sets them apart from other rookies. The four personally wrote, composed and produced their first full-length album, proving their capabilities as musicians.

After the boys wrap up their “G.D.M” performance at the Highlight Festival 2012, they will be preparing to work on their sophomore album.

Jungle Entertainment‘s male hip hop sensation group, M.I.B (Most Incredible Busters) were recently featured on Global TV channel, Arirang!

Arirang recently caught up with the group and sat down with them to complete a short interview.

It is evident that the boys are passionate about what they do, and they possess an unparalleled strong will to succeed.

Although they showcase a fierce and charismatic image on stage, fans were delighted to see their playful and down-to-earth personalities in the interview.

4-member hip hop group M.I.B successfully completed their very first independent Showcase.

The boys kicked off their first album promotions by performing at MuseLive in Olympic Hall on the 20th. They performed five songs total- each performing their individual spin off tracks, ‘5Zic – Beautiful Day‘, ‘Cream – Do U Like Me‘, ‘SIMS – Hands Up‘, and ‘Kang Nam – Say My Name. Additionally, the four of them together performed their debut song “G.D.M” from their first album [Most Incredible Busters].

The four members 5Zic, Cream, SIMS, & Kang Nam are housed under Korea’s top hip hop agency Jungle Entertainment, alongside artists such as Yoon Mirae (Tasha), Drunken Tiger (Tiger JK), and Leessang. The boys have been the first Korean artists to attempt ‘spin-off promotions’, individually promoting their spin off tracks of their title song “G.D.M”. They did this in order to distinguish themselves from other artists and to show what each member has to offer. They released the tracks one at a time, 2-3 days apart and showed the public how experienced and talented they were, despite their young age. In no way do these boys seem like rookies, as they also possess enough talent and skill to write, compose and produce their own first album.

At the press conference that was held after the showcase, M.I.B remarked, “There are a lot of talented artists out there but our goal is to not only be #1 in the nation, but to be the top artist in all of Asia. We want to work hard so that we’ll one day become role models for other junior artists that debut after us. We’re not an idol group, and we want to prove this simply with our skill and expertise. We want to show you that we know how to have a good time on stage.”

Labelmates Tiger JK, Leessang’s Gary as well as Bizzy also attended the event, making this all the more meaningful for M.I.B. In regards to their seniors’ continuing love and support, they expressed their pride and respect by remarking, “Jungle Entertainment’s artists are known for producing only full-length albums. We plan on following that path, and that’s why our first is also full-length.”

M.I.B’s debut album will be released on the 25th and they will officially begin their promotions as one unit with “G.D.M”. The boys will without a doubt set a new par in the Korean hip hop industry with their self-produced album, ‘Most Incredible Busters’.

Jungle Entertainment‘s four-member hip hop group M.I.B continued their streak of innovative releases today by unveiling the solo MV for member SIMS!

As reported previously, the agency is introducing each member one-by-one through ‘spin-off’ music videos before they release their official debut MV as a group. So far, they’ve revealed solo MVs from members 5zic and Cream, and the reactions from K-Pop fans both at home and abroad have been explosive. Now it’s SIMS’ turn to step into the limelight and show the world what he’s got.

SIMS’ “Hands Up” is a party-dance track that highlights his excellent rap skills. Its hard to believe that he’s only 21 years old, as he possesses not just a serious hunger for success, but talents to back him up as well. Jungle Entertainment explained that “Hands Up” was a track he wrote and composed personally.

The upcoming group from Jungle Entertainment decided to go with a ‘spin-off’ style to properly showcase what each and every member has to offer. Following behind 5Zic, member Cream was the next in line to show the world what he’s got through his MV for “Do U Like Me”.

While 5Zic gave off a powerful, masculine vibe through “Beautiful Day”, Cream presents a softer image with his gentle smile and melodic rap – giving us a good look into M.I.B.’s different charms.

It’s rare to see a group that has the ability for each member to stand strongly on their own. They’re not just talented individually, however; it’s said that all 11 tracks of their album were self-produced by the members themselves.

All eyes are on Jungle Entertaiment‘s new 4-member hip hop group, M.I.B. The boys are taking a risk, being the first Korean artists to promote their new album with individual spin off tracks. The boys continue to emphasize that each individual is more than capable of standing on their own, increasing expectations for their complete album when the four members come together. As reported earlier, Jungle Entertainment spared no cost preparing this album and the public anticipates their official debut, as they are fresh new artists that have broken the mold of trendy K-pop.

Because each member of M.I.B uniquely express their individual styles, although they work with the biggest names in the Korean hip hop scene, they insisted on writing, composing & producing their own album without much help of their seniors. Without a doubt, the boys will be making a significant mark in the Hallyu wave.

M.I.B’s 5zic has been the first to release his solo track “Beautiful Day“, giving fans an idea of his music style that consists of electronic hip hop & smooth flowing rap mashed with senuous melodies pleasing to the ears.

Next to release his solo track is member Cream on the 11th, followed by two new solo releases on the 14th, and the 18th. Their full-length album drops on the 25th as the boys make their official debut!

5Zic of M.I.B (‘Most Incredible Busters’) has kicked off their ‘spin-off’ promotions with the release of his solo music video, “Beautiful Day“, featuring BEE.

The upcoming group from Jungle Entertainment decided to go with a ‘spin-off’ style to properly showcase what each and every member has to offer.  The four will be taking turns in the spotlight with their own solo projects before banding together in the end as a group for their title track.

Starting with 5Zic, the members will be releasing their solo MVs every two to three days until their debut album drops on October 25th.  The album itself features 11 tracks all personally produced by the members themselves.

It’s rare to see a group that has the ability for each member to stand strongly on their own, so M.I.B. is one of the most highly-anticipated debuts of the year.  As reported previously, Jungle Entertainment is sparing no costs to support the group. Jungle Entertainment also told allkpop that they read the opinions of the readers on this site and decided to change the group’s name from Mega Interesting Bastards to Most Incredible Busters.

M.I.B is taking a huge risk for their first release, as they will be the first Korean artist to debut with a “spin-off promotion” — that is, taking the group’s original debut song then releasing spin-off solo tracks and music videos for each member. Beginning with member 5zic, M.I.B will begin releasing these solo tracks on October 7th, with two days between each release.

Once all the members release their individual songs, M.I.B will make their official debut as a four-member group with their full-length album on the 25th. The rookie group also has a showcase scheduled on October 20th at Olympic Hall to discuss their new album.

The spin-off promotional technique is not geared toward building popularity but showcasing each member’s unique talents and personality.  It will serve as a chance for each member to distinguish himself, rather than always being collectively identified as ‘M.I.B’. It’s definitely a gamble, but they want to prove to fans that each member is more than capable of debuting as a solo artist, and when the four come together to make their official debut towards the end of the month, it will be that much more epic.

Impressively enough, M.I.B has written, composed and produced all eleven tracks on their upcoming album. The promotions for their new album kick off on October 7th with the release of 5zic’s solo track, so stay tuned!
