i would think that Winner, BTS, Red Velvet, Exo are all 5th gen. Since we had groups like Beast, Secret, Miss A, 2pm, Big Bang, like those are the 4th gen...right?

Nope, you calculated something wrongly.
1st gen are S.E.S, Shinwa, H.O.T, Baby Vox (1990's and early 2000)
2nd gen are BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Rain, Brown Eyed Girls, Wonder Girls, KARA, 2AM, 2PM, Big Bang, SS501.
3rd gen are f(x), 4Minute, 2NE1, SHINee, BEAST, Secret, Teen Top, INFINITE, SISTAR, Miss A, B1A4, MBLAQ, Girls’ Day, Boyfriend.
4th gen are surely EXO, BTS, AOA, EXID, Ailee, WINNER, etc.
People say 5th gen are Twice, Blackpink, Seventeen, iKon, Red Velvet, NCT etc.
And some people say a new era starting with Itzy, TXT, Idle etc.
You mistook 2nd gen idols as they are the 4th gen.
And people's opinion are different if there is 5th and 6th generations or not.

Me too, since 2014 was the best year for KSH, he won daesang with "My love from the star". But I also don't think he "disappeared" for awhile like @abracapanda said. Except if we mean military is a disappearence.
If it's not him, I don't understand why it is posted under an article about him.
