Agreed. When BTS came out in 2013, they were focused heavily on hip hop, they eventually added in rock music, and by their "Wings" album in 2016 with songs like "Blood Sweat and Tears," you could tell that they were implementing the trendiest music of the U.S. Which...no hate, but I'd say their breakout really came with "Fire" and eventually that "Wings" album, all in 2016. But man...if the BTS of 2014 heard "Butter" and "Dynamite"...I wonder what they'd think. I'm all for evolving with the times, but I loved songs like "Boy in Luv" and the "Dark and Wild" album the most.
Wow...lol, I haven't logged into this in years, surprised my password still works. Hi there! I've been into kpop since 2005. I've been checking out Allkpop since 2009 and was part of the old forum days in 2010 where every member was pretty much part of a debate team lololol
I have no issue with the rankings from 2010-2014, and that's me speaking as a Big Bang fan. I saw BTS debut, basically fans of BAP went over to them and their fandom bolstered. No hate there. But in 2015...bruh, ain't no way. Big Bang came out with their "MADE" series, we're talking about Loser, and Bang BAng Bang...I even remember an Ikegayo performance where Big Bang won, and V from BTS was in the background singing the lyrics to Loser and people got mad at him. Even there, as a Big Bang fan, I was like, "Nah, V's alright. it's all good."
By 2016, I started to phase out of kpop, with the exception of some girl groups that got my attention like Twice and Black Pink. And of course, after Burning Sun, I was pretty much done with it, only checking out what's new every once in a while. So I can't speak on the years of 2017 since.
Also...let's not pretend that just because Big Bang wasn't killing it from 2010-2014, they weren't slaying it as individuals. GD and TOP, Taeyang, GDRagon and Seungri all dropped some of the memorable songs I've ever heard. Alright. lolol, I'm done. Just visiting.
I have many doubts about the accuracy of this ... I am a kpop fan since 2011, and i know for a fact BTS was not in the top 5 in 2014 and 2015, specially not in korea. Nor was seventeen in 2015, their success came later and big for them but i was there and it is just simply not true.
