The founder of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk (Mr. YG) recently wrote an entry about the 4'11" Munchkin Tae Yang of Big Bang on his blog at the official YG website.

On the entry he stated how he was impressed with Tae Yang's solo act. Mr. YG stated that if you saw Tae Yang at his concert, you would've thought it was a foreigner performing. Well that isn't too surprising considering he is basically a copy of Chris Brown and Omarion.

Mr. YG also stated that Tae Yang is currently concentrating on the return of Big Bang, but he didn't stop there. Mr. YG also stated that he's thinking into the future for the continued success of solo Tae Yang ($_$). Mr. YG said to expect bigger and better things from Tae Yang by next year. Mr. YG ended the entry by saying that he doesn't know when exactly Tae Yang will come to America, but feels that if Tae Yang ever does come to America, Tae Yang will succeed.

Interesting that Mr. YG says this considering how he said it would be hard for Se7en to succeed in America, yet says Tae Yang will succeed in America. By the way, whatever happened to Se7en? You'll say the same thing if Tae Yang tries to come over here. My advice is to stay in Korea and be relevant there instead of falling into obscurity like Se7en.

How would Tae Yang fair in America?

There just isn’t a market for korean artists in the american music industry. People are very ignorant about pronunciation. I sense fail is in the horizon.

Err..if Se7en isn’t ready, TaeYang definitely isn’t..
I’m still listening to Naman Barabwa though :D

FAIL like se7en.

seriously, he wasn’t that great in the first place. as always, we’ll get bashed on by american articles and tv reporters by saying, “oh look! an asian who wants to be like chris brown and omarion. how lame!“ -_-

I like Korean music, but I doubt a Korean rapper will make it big over here

NO. there is nothing remotely distinctive about his talent or image(besides being azn yo!) that will set him apart from other acts today. homeboy, either needs to get a magical haircut and a hit song like rihanna, or change his sound completely.

i understand they would choose america cause it’s pretty big over there but maybe they can try europe instead?? i mean it’s mostly/always america and MAYBE if they try europe the artist could be as big or bigger

As much as I love TY he shouldn’t come here.
I mean look at Se7en, he was at the top of his game at Korea[to put it loosely.]  And off he went to the U.S. and you hardly hear from him.  To be honest I don’t think Se7en is going to make it at least not make it big.  During the time he spent here he could’ve just stayed at Korea and kept doing his thing.

is he really 4’11”? ow c’mon… nah… i don’t think he’s ready for US market… still have more to learn…

he is not even that talented to begin with…i watched some of his perfs and really it wasn’t that great since his voice is quite nasally and too breathy….if taeyang can’t dance and if he is not from bigbang, i doubt it if he can make it as a solo artist coz his voice is really mediocre.

^^hey, same name lol

Anyways, Taeyang is definitely not ready for America. Or more like, he’s never going to be ready for America. There just isn’t a market for Asian music in the American music industry. He should just stay in Korea were he will stay significant.

lol Agree with Peah ^_^ my thoughts exactly
If Se7en’s not ready then TaeYang should wait a few more years…until he learns some good english and not be like Rain with all the “You know” and not make any sense at all..

well to be honest, i really don’t know what people will think BUT if he does go and sing in english and not “engrish” then he might have a shot. His accent can stay because he really can’t do anything about that, but at least he can make his english understandable. When he sang Always, which was old i know, i couldn’t understand alot of what he was saying so i was like “wth?“ so i just listened to the korean version. With U was a better of course so his english is okay now but not as good as what some Americans might expect, including me. He did well solo i guess so if he can remake those songs in English(not engrish) he might have a shot.
oh yea and if he really IS that short then he needs to grow a few inches and then go to America. gosh i’m taller than him and he’s older than me…way older.

I think all of them should just stay in korea.

i think that the only way that he would do romotely well in america is if he signed a deal with a record company in the US. that way they can make it easier for the american market to except him. also i think that if he where to do a song with someone from the US i think it would be easier for the US to except him, it might even make people in the US want to know more about this kid coming out of korea. but thats just what i think. i honestly dont know if he could actually cross over but maybe.

Even if he sings great in english, i dont think he’ll do so hot here in the states. # 1 he’s not ready , # 2 the states is completely different from korea and #3 the americans here are sometimes racist, so unless he can blow them away with his music, he might not have a chance..dont get me wrong, i love big bang and their music, but going solo is hard, and harder here in the states…why not come as a group??

se7en hasn’t fail yet…and he won’t!!! I’ll support his album…if it ever comes and even if I don’t like the genre of the music…I’ll even buy one for each and everyone of my family member even friends…lols…I’m even planning on going to Rain’s movie…
but conclusion: its hard…if they can’t even break into Japan don’t even try here ^_~ its 10x harder…

Tae Yang DOES have a chance of making it in America, but ya there is a problem with english, racism, etc. Unless his music is really really good to a point where he can stand with Chris Brown, hes just goin to fail.

I’d rather he stay with Big Bang and slow down on being solo…

Wow…not gonna happen. They should sign their artists up to do some American reality show (or something of the sort). It would be publicity and it would be hilarious. Rain (Se7en/Tae Yang/etc) and his Engrish on Dancing With the Stars. Fun stuff…but likewise I doubt they can think of anything to make Kpop singers known (least of all famous) here.

he doesn’t have his own style. Since he is trying to copy American artists , Omario, T-Pain, ...... He can’t make anything big in here.

he shouldn’t debut in america. cause look at seven, rain and min haven’t they all been trying to debut in america and so far its been very quiet.

I really like Tae Yang, and Se7en HOWEVER I really don’t think there’s a market for Korean artists in the west. I think the music style is different, and there’s also a large language barrier.

I’m sure he will make it..
i personally don’t like Rain (for no particular reason), and i’m sure he won’t succeed, but TY, i guess he will, since he got the american style, he’s not a copy of chris and Omarion, he got he’s own style, and i’m sure h"ll make it.
i’m waiting for that day!!^^

YB is a very talented person and .....dare i say it, he could be very successful as a solo artist(as their a vacancy to fill since the loss of se7en and rain), but i prefer him to stay with Big bang hehe. but yeah i don’t think he should go to america, wait for se7en to become successful first.

yeah. no. that’s never gonna happen if he comes to america.
it doesnt matter how talented he is… looking at who’s popular here now?
fame in the US won’t come. im sorry to say it, but it’s true.
i mean, look at se7en and rain. they’ve been performing longer than he is and
look at where they are. ask any american on the street and they’ll have no idea who you’re talking about. sorry taeyang, but it isn’t gonna happen.

He’s hot, i liked his mini album, but he wouldn’t make it here in america, everything he’s doing has been done here.  Wish i could say it would work but Americans always have to compare things in order to understand them and gauge how good someone is.

ekk. no. please please please no.
i think he is completely awesome but,
i would seriously hate to see him fail.
i would much rather he stay in korea/asia and be successful there.
besides its not like he doesn’t have foreign fans. =)

If he spent some time to learn English well I think he might be able to make it in the US, but not anytime soon. Probably the soonest he should even think about it is in 2 or 3 years. That would give him enough time to learn more.

His image, though, is a lot like other artists in America and that is precisely why I think it’s possible he’d make it. I think, as Americans, we’re really stubborn and not open to new things in the media, but if it’s the same thing, why not?
