Wonder Girls ask for a Beatdown

JYP Entertainment is carefully considering bringing the Wonder Girls over to the US market.

It was only a matter of time before JYP completely lost his mind, as he is now considering bringing the girls over to target the teenage market in the US.

Although the Wonder Girls took Korea by storm, there's a major issue with bringing them over to the states, they can't speak English.

But I guess they can speak the universal language, sex - oh wait, they don't have that either.

LOLL, i personally think they would neeed a whole new wardobe and makeover.. THEIR TELL ME COSTUMES AND THIS FOOL is considered “fobbed out “ in America. If they can dance and sing at the same time hardcore, then sure why not give it a shot ? BUT shouldnt jyp be focusing on min firsT?

a few of their songs are quite nice but they DEFINITELY can’t sing live!!!
they should just stay in Korea…
even those singers with talent(Se7en with singing n Rain with dancing) and experience are having a hard time in US…
what makes them think they could do better with their little experience n mediocre singing n dancing???

The TELL ME MV is so cute that people think they are good.  Now if you are ugly and somehow get famous, people think you are talented.  SIgh, it hurts to be beautiful these days.

should expand to other asian countries like japan and china where they probably already know them…

they need to have probably at LEAST 2 years training with thier english before they can release an album.

but if they do hit the US, it would be pretty awesome ^^

but yeah..
i agree with trashstar,
the americans are so over pop nowadays.

^ people have been saying that forever and pop has always been around.
I think the fact they’re all Asian is an even bigger obstacle than the language thing. As a non-asian I know white-americans see Asian people as well, foreign and strange alot of times even if they’re not. I don’t see the US getting past that. Maybe a single Asian they could warm up to and learn to like but 5 of them… eh not so much. Good look with the creepy dudes afflicted with yellow fever and the 5% Asian population though!

“ppl here like differ music"-->and maybe you mean, “different music”
even if a song has a good beat....as long as it isn’t in English and its engrish....nobody, unless, maybe if you’re Asian...will listen to it...other languages are not like English to those who natively speak English...why would you listen to a song that you can’t even understand?! Its normal for Asians, because there’s some kind of connection between countries...but unless, at least, you sing in English pretty well they won’t take a second glance at you...that’s how stupid people are this days...and there’s a lot of American artists around, they don’t need girls who sing variety songs…

I don’t understand.  Why are all these singers trying to crossover?  Does making it “big” in America mean you’ve succeeded in life?  I don’t think so.  There’s a distinct difference between KPOP and American POP.  I truly believe that if they want to at least get noticed in America, they will have to change their whole style… and if changing that… that’s changing who they are.  And, I really don’t respect the fact that they’re risking all of that just to “make it big in America.”

I’ve shown 5 of my friends the Tell Me MV by now, and all of them thought it was completely ridiculous (not in a good way). 2 of them were Asian, too. Just not a good move IMO, there are other things the Wonder Girls can focus on doing first.

They definitely won’t make it, they’d have to be really mainstream American to get anywhere close, and even then it’s not a guarantee.  On a side note, the girl on the top right looks really weird.  They all look sort of weird (am I the only one who thinks people calling Sohee cute is a perverse way of using the word?), but she looks the weirdest.

28.  voyager

...shouldn’t they get famous in the rest of Asia FIRST before going to America?

They’ll fail. Especially with their engrish and their FOB name.

Maybe JYP will give them their own cartoon series, like they did with puffy ami yumi. o_O I don’t know, they look like the type that will appeal to pre-teens and their fathers. kekekeke… alright enough with the joking.

JYP should screw his head back on before the poor girls suffer.

im sorry but, WG needs to stay in Korea.
JYP is starting to lose his mind here. If he goes on like this, everything is gonna come crashing down on the poor guy. I definitely don’t want JYP Entertainment to fail so yea.

WG, stay in Korea. If they don’t, JYP USA will be the laughing stock of the US. And, to add, WG will be featured on parodies and such which i don’t want to happen to them.
@ voyager- that is true because they need the whole of Asia to support them and not just Korea. like BoA for instance, she’s already famous in Asia as a whole so it’s understandable for her to go into the US.

so again, Wonder Girls....stay in Korea. =]

@johnnydorama
That is f*cking ridiculous. You’re asking someone to go find the source themselves? Beyond the obvious fact that the person is probably on this site to begin with BECAUSE he/she can’t read Korean – acting as if the READER was being lazy is mind-blowingly obtuse.  If the person could a.) read Korean or b.) had time to go find these sources themselves, there would be no bloody point to this website.  What a new low.

As for WG - what a pipedream.  This lil bunch isn’t going anywhere but on youtube for their fobby english.

LOLZ i love how JYP still thinks he can make ALL his entertainers english speaking FOBs. Bi has been here the longest and he still sucks. J.Lim can sing good in English but that’s about it. MIN is still nowhere to be found and she’s been here for supposedly 4-5 years already. And she still has a bad accent.

And come on readers, do you really need a source? It was obvious from the start that JYP was going to sooner or later say that he’d be promoting the girls in America.

That’s exactly the point of POSTING a source - to prevent people from questioning your reporting.  You have no legit reason to tell me to fuck off anymore than you did for attacking a reader who is coming to this website to obtain translations from a credible source b/c they want to know about k-pop.  If you are translating, you should show the original article from which you are translating – there is nothing odd with people getting suspicious when you never cite them.  And your comment didn’t address the HOW this person could have found this source if he couldn’t read Korean.  Furthermore, it’s not up to the reader to have to fact check your posts - that’s the point of this website isn’t it? To translate news so that you can deliver them to English readers? Or do you just post on this website so that you can tell people don’t agree with you or question your credibility to fuck off?  What an utter lack of professionalism. Shut the fuck up? Why don’t you just shut off the comment box since listening to your readers unless they agree with you is such a problem? At least Popseoul and the other writers on this website can take the heat and defend themselves without telling their readers to shut up and call them names.

A pipedream is you thinking that your presence on this website isn’t worth just a dime a dozen and that your posts are going to make anymore of a dent in the entertainment world than my comments. Most of the writers for this website are catty but reasonable because they know the function of these websites are to ultimately bring people interesting in k-pop together, not drive them away. Your attitude brings down quality of this website as a community and as a news source – I hope you think about that before telling people to fuck off without even trying to explain yourself reasonably first sans the name-calling and bitchiness.

The source had to asked for and sources are never cited on this site to begin with.  Furthermore, credibility is given when you have a history of delivering news accurately and that’s built over time.  As a fairly new site, expecting everyone to blindly assume you are credible is just as unfair as people automatically assuming your news is made up.  I personally don’t think that the news on this website is made up as a whole but flipping people off for getting suspicious about un-cited news no matter how “obvious” it may be to someone who’s been following k-pop for a long time is less than understandable.  And in all honestly, it would take less than 2 seconds to just a post a link to the article you translated at the bottom of each post.  But whatever, it’s only a suggestion and this whole thing has been blown out of proportion as is.

43.  C311
Apr 14, 2008 - 12:38 AM

I think you’re the one who’s ass hurt - your comment reeks of it. A little defensive are we?  Still telling me to shut up since you know that you can’t reasonably defend yourself on logical ground.  Ass hurt? I wasn’t even taking it personally or thinking of “hurting” much less in the ass ^_^ You must feel violated wink Unless you like it that way :D

But that’ll be my last comment about that (to your relief no doubt) smile

okay sorry..
hear let me rephrase.

where’s a CREDIBLE source?
whatever. i still love ur OPINIONATED posts but the FALSE rumor ones are kinda over the top..
its pretty much certain wg will not debut in the U.S… if they were, it’d be ALL OVER THE NEWS on tv but its not. they haven’t said anything in their interviews & jyp hasn’t said anything either. wg did mention their KOREAN single coming out very soon. (1 month?)
they are going to do some stuff in china too.
plus NONE OF THEM CAN SPEAK ENGLISH. Jyp isn’t an idiot. well.. sometimes. but he’s not stupid enough to let wonder girls go debut when they cant even have a normal convo.

xjewelzx… Newsen.com is a major credible Korean news source, that’s where the article came from as I have linked you up numerous times.  And as the article states, JYP is carefully considering bringing the girls into the U.S.  It’s not 100%, he is carefully considering it, which is the reason why it’s not a FALSE rumor - is that so hard to comprehend?
