During Tohoshinki's (a.k.a. DBSK) Tohoshinki 3rd LIVE TOUR 2008 ~T~, the boys took time to thank the hard work of their seniors, Kwon BoA and H.O.T.. These fellow SM Entertainment artists opened the eyes of other Asian countries and generated interest in Korean entertainment. On top of their hard work in their homeland, BoA and Tohoshinki worked hard in Japan as well, growing a larger fan base.

At Saitama Arena on May 5th, fellow AnyBand mate, Xiah Junsu praised BoA and said, “BoA was the first in Japan to make it big. We thank her because we wouldn’t be here or have our career in Japan if it wasn’t for her hard work. We know we’re not the best, but we work hard in her foot steps and the door she’s opened up for other Korean artists. We will continue to work hard for other things in the future”.

Shim Changmin also stated that they are definitely not the ones who paved the way for other Korean artists, “It wouldn’t be right to say we were the first. Our seniors, H.O.T. and BoA are the first and we’re just following their hard work. However, we also want to be role models for other Korean artists coming to Japan.”

Shindong, obviously, FRANKteenez is a boy and he’s reffering to them as hyungs.

dbsklover… lol what is there to be proud about? lol though frankteenez said it in a less polite way, I agree with him… some DBSK fans think DBSK is the shit and they did everything. It’s embarrassing for me to be a DBSK fan sometimes.

Junsu, you sexy beast. rawr

so they are “kissing ass” because they expressed gratitude to their seniors? hmm, would they be considered ungrateful if they didn’t thank those who’ve helped pave the way?

lol, people are so hard to please.

lol @ johnnydorama

There is a lot of things to be proud about the artists that we admire. As fans, we should not be proud of their accomplishments? I don’t quite see the logic in that. Just because they say they aren’t that successful does not mean that we can’t support them and say that they are successful based on what they have accomplished in their careers. Granted they are not at the top of Japan and they are not perfect, that doesn’t necessarily restrict us from being proud of what talents they do have. But perhaps you were just directing your comments to those fans who think that they are perfect in every single way, which then I will agree with you. I will also agree that Junsu is indeed a sexy beast. smile

Anyway, i do like the modesty and respect DBSG has towards other people. I read this on soompi and I agree with one statement. I couldn’t care less if one group beats dbsk or if they beat them in some popularity contest. I seriously couldn’t. Because it’s not beating another group that makes you remembered by others, it’s living up to the standards and maintaining the foundation of the artists and groups who have raised the bar before you that makes you remembered years after.

Whatever they do, you ppl might call it ass-kissing or whatever but at least they still have a squeaky clean image and are trying to set a good example. It’s amazing to see how far they’ve gotten and these boys have given us nothing but their hard work and dedication.

And yeah. It is embarrassing to be a tvxq fan sometimes with all the deranged fans who think the world of their oppas....

Junsu! Fighting all the way baby! (We have the same taste, SlaVe! lol.)

i agree with frankteenez.  I barf whenever a random dbsk fangirl goes..."DBSK PAVED THE ROAD FOR KOREAN ARTISTS IN JAPAN!!” -_- Obviously, NOT. DBSK is so humble and modest, more love from me <3

fangirls tend to exagerate, cant blame them though ! They paved the road for boy bands, i think.. What i l0ve about this article is s shows their modesty and gradtude to their senors, unlke other artsts who havent made it that big yet, but struts their proud asses up, thinking their all that..

well, just leave those fangirls alone...they won’t straighten their minds even if we nail them...ahaha…

anyway, isn’t this something to be proud of? as a DBSK fan, I think it is...because, at least, I know that they know how to humble themselves down...unlike DSP entertainment...it’s a really good thing they worked so hard in Japan…

and let’s put that in other words...DBSK strengten the road for other group bands…

I think BoA just proved that it can be done. I think companies might have not taken a risk and invested so much in them if it werent for BoA but I still think they achieved their fan base in Japan on their own. BoA’s fan base demographic is so much different than THSK’s. I think it’s alot harder for a Korean boyband in Japan than some cute little Korean girl. I’m not saying she didnt work hard, cuz she did, she just automatically came with the potential to appeal to alot more people.
Now ss501 has THSK to thank for their success in Japan since they are merely riding coat tails.

umm, i could also argue that BoA didnt really pave the way for korean artists in Japan. Japan kinda “thinks” BoA as one of their own. whereas Tohoshinki, they’re still -up to now- called the Korean band. in fact, when i first heard of Boa i thought she’s Japanese who jst happened to know Korean. well anywayz, Tohoshinki’s overall success is a reason to be proud of. gosh, i wish i also had the chance to go to Saitama. it’s okay, their Sendai concert was fun.

Well every opinions are on their own, at least the boys are nice and humble enough to give the credits.
BoA and HOT did pave the ways IMO.  But the music field is so large and it doesn’t hurt to widen the previous ways, as the previos path may not fit. If the path in Japan was paved so clear earlier, THSK didn’t have to struckle that much in the beginning. BoA really impress me by doing it alone very successfully outside her motherland.  It’s so much different of being alone and as a duo.  The thought of having 5 people is such a relieve.
And for people who embarass by the other actions, think of yourself actions first.

I will forever love DBSK!  They are so humble and respectful towards their seniors in the industry and never forget to thank them.  I don’t care about what other fans do and think, it’s enough to just like them for their music.

I suppose they are a modest group of guys. And since they are not on their home turf, I don’t think they want to sound cocky and have Japan become their enemy. But I also have suspicions that their management has pressured them to be this way..or at least direct their actions on some occassions. I mean everytime in interviews, it’s astonishing how fair they are when describing one another and how politically correct they are all the time. Sometimes I think they are more polite than other Japanese boybands. But hey, that could be their true nature. I think praising Boa makes sense...she’s proved to Korea and to Japan that a Korean artist can retain her identity and make it big in a different country...and also learn the language and culture very fast. I’m not a fan of her, but hey, she must have succeeded if non-fans know about her.

Hiroshi...uh why would I stop being a fan because others ruin it? That’s a pretty stupid logic, don’t you think? I’m an embarrassed fan only because I will probably be mixed in with the Crazy Cassiopeia if I were to say “Yeah, I’m a fan of DBSK”. Get my drift?

junsufan! hey buddy :D we need to talk man

Yes Dong Bang, thank BoA raspberry Though I will say, DBSK does impress me with the work they’ve done and the name they’ve made for themselves. Other Korean artists that have tried to make it in Japan usually give up after a few failures. DBSK at least progressively reached the top and are staying there. Though it took them longer, it’s understandable now that Jpop has expanded as well.

they’re humble!!! that makes me love them even more! Even if they lose popularity or ever *knocks on wood* disband I would still respect and remember them! They’re practically at the top of the charts right now in Asia, or at least very close to there, and yet they are still able to be humble...that shows an incredible sense of character...especially since I hear stories daily over here about American celebs who goes crazy after their 15-minutes of fame.

unlike others..as a DBSK fan, im never ashamed even if im stereotyped under the “crazy cassiopeians”..thats inevitable..as l0ng as i can support my oppas,,and im sure of where i stand, and that is far from the obsessive types of fans..i will never deny my l0yalty to cassiopeia as a fan and admirer of my favorite musical artists..we may have different ways of showing our supp0rt.but at the end of the day it is our l0ve for these talented and humble b0ys that binds us.and that is all there is..
