Rain to Participate in the Olympics?

Rain
Rain aka Bi is considering singing the theme song for this year's Beijing Summer Olympics. The Chinese Olympic Organizing Committee recently requested Rain for the gig. Initial impressions are that he most likely will do it. He turned down a similar request two years ago for the Doha Asian Games due to conflict with his tour schedule. But obviously there's a huge difference between the Doha Asian Games and the Summer Olympics. He just wrapped up filming for his minor role in the movie Speed Racer (Due to open in May), so there shouldn't be any schedule conflict this time.

Does this mean Rain has to sing in Chinese? I would think so, considering all the past theme songs were in their respected native countries tongue. Maybe he can rehash the pimp classic South Korean 1988 Seoul Olympic Theme, Hand in Hand:

Probably because most of the chinese singers I’ve heard were pretty bad? Plus the chinese seem to love this guy for some weird reason.

I personally hope he sings in Korean…I don’t wanna have to worry about his Korean accent in his Chinese. Haha.

They couldn’t find any better singers? I mean bedside’s Rain’s popularity in China, i don;‘t see why he was chosen to sing on a show to be televised int he world. His Chinese is really bad, and so is his English. Making him sing in Korean is the only option and it’s not practical for the BEIJING Olympics. Plus his singing in Korean isn’t even great…

@Shenyue, why should we boycot the olympics?

I don’t have anything against Rain, but no!!
I was secretly wishing TVXQ can do it… though their chinese is not so great (but I’m sure Rain’s isn’t better!)and they are great singers!! (fangirl wish here… @_@..... it’s long shot… :(....)

Leehom would be an excellent choice, or that guy who collaborated with Jay on Qian Li Zhi Wai .... I loved his voice…
I don’t know that many Chinese singers but I’m sure they can find someone…....

H8erade. you must have been listening to the teeny boppers from taiwan cuz they have no vocal ability whatsoever.

anyways, who the hell thought it was a good ideal to invite rain to sing the theme song for the olympics in CHINA. he can’t sing worth shit to begin with and he’s not even chinese. there are a lot of great singers from mainland china or hk it’s not that hard to pick someone who has the vocal ability and can speak the language fluently.

No offence but the only worthwhile korean who can sing chinese in my opinion is Nicky Lee. Though, you can hear he is korean when he speak Chinese but when he sings it’s perfect, better than most Chinese artists. Rain can’t sing, he’s just a dancer, a bad one.

Don’t worry guys, RAIN apparently declied the invitation to sing at the Olympics. He said that it would be more appropriate for a Chinese to sing than him.
