On the latest episode of MBC's Goldfish (황금어장), Lee Seung Chul, a singer of 23 years spoke of his career and other artists in the industry.
Lee Seung Chul stated that he's had a very rough time throughout his entire career and being able to last in the industry for 23 years is all thanks to luck. He believes talent alone doesn't allow you to have a long career, as singers who were far more talented than him, had shorter careers.
When asked who in the industry has surprised him the most, he stated, Park Jin Young (JYP).
Lee Seung Chul stated that he didn't think Park Jin Young would last very long. At the time, video (or image/looks) took precedence over actual talent, and since Park Jin Young was a dance artist, good looks were especially important. However, seeing that Park Jin Young has been able to last in the industry, as an extremely successful artist and producer, Lee Seung Chul only had praises for him.
We love how Lee Seung Chul is so indirectly direct... but he needs to take a deep long stare into the mirror as well....

Lee seung chul’s a famous singer who debuted in 1985 or so with a rock ballad band named “Boo Hwal.” The band later split in 1988, but he continued a solo career.
Although, he did make a comeback with “Boo Hwal” once again in 2002 with the hit song “Never ending story,” you should check it out, it’s a great song. Now he just continues to release solo albums and has been fairly successful… he’s got quite a few good songs under his belt.

Lee Seung Chul is definitely a talented artist. I’d like to see more singers like him right now.
