Both Joo and Kim Tae Yeon debuted from major labels (JYP Entertainment and SM Entertainment) and have attracted much attention because of their voices. The two girls have been noted to be different in every which way. Though both are small girls with big vocals, even their pitches 'share a difference'. The two come together on this special stage to perform two of this years famous low-tempo ballads. Joo captured the hearts of Korea earlier this year with Because of a Man but it didn't last long. When tabloids found that she had a dark past, Joo lost her good girl image. Luckily, she was able to overcome the negativity and keep on promoting. Kim Tae Yeon's If brought even more attention to the rising group of which she leads, Girls' Generation. Though the shortest, she is the leader and is known to be the group's strongest vocal.

Joo’s stage presence is better.

And Believe it or not I like Joos voice better.  Although Taeyeon’s Voice is more powerful...it seems too shaky at parts.

well if following what the rest of Korea thinks is “good” you must also think that “tell me” is the best song ever created...PLEASE...for your sake...don’t ever use what Korea thinks as an argument towards what you yourself think is good.  wink

it’s all a matter of preference…

Personally, I find Tae Yeon had better control of her voice. Joo’s voice is unique, I give her that. But I find that her voice is weak and a bit fragile compared to Tae Yeon’s.

i thought Joo sounded better singing “If” and Tae Yeon sounded better singing Joo’s song..they both are ok..@ some higher notes they both need a little work coz my ears had a little tiny ringing, but it was a good performance

I never really gave Joo a shot before… I gave her song a listen to ONCE because she was on Star Golden Bell (the one where they wrestled in Feb I think). and I remember not really thinking her voice was all that.
But because of this performance, both of them really catching me, I started to like Joo. Interesting voice, she’s sorta cute, and the song is lovely.

^ I kinda disagree with you there slave.
Tae Yeon owned this performance!!
Joo’s vocals can’t even compare to Tae Yeon’s.
Plus every time I see Joo, it’s not the same.
I wonder if they have like a twin for her lol.

Tae Yeon definitely has a stronger voice, but… I don’t like the tone. It just sounds bad to me. The only song I thought Joo sounded good in was the one she did for the Three Dads One Mom OST… and even then I don’t remember what it’s called. LOL.
