Wonder Girls Nobody

As you all know, the Wonder Girls kicked off as openers for the Jonas Brothers World Tour in Portland, Oregon this past weekend. JYP Entertainment has released a little footage from their first show via the Wonder Girls official YouTube channel. Check it out:

Video Credits: wondergirls

It's great to see so much support coming from the Jonas camp and to see so many people in the arena. Whether the people were there for the Wonder Girls or not, "Nobody" has one heck of a catchy melody that won't easily be forgotten. Congratulations to the Wonder Girls for their awesome performance, and I wish them many more throughout the rest of the tour!

the u.s music industry is totally different. sorry but for me sometimes its a bit too much. .they need to polish a lot more things. and those fans who bash on the jonas bros. just wake up if it wasn’t for the JB they wont have that opportunity to have such exposure with the crowd they bring. the u.s music industry is totally different to be that hyped this early.

i hope this will pave the way for other kpop artist to get into the U.S. market. congrats, WG! ^_^

even if they do get famous, they’re appealing to teenyboppers under the age of 16. most artists around that age aren’t really considered “talent” or real artists. they’re just eye-candy. end result: i still won’t gain that much respect. at least not as much respect as BoA since she is trying to appeal to a more mature audience. best of luck to WG though.

@59 : Yeah but the jonas brothers never even mentioned the WG once. Not even in their interviews about the concert…so we can forget that. I hope Papa Jonas isn’t the only Jonas who likes them, although I’m getting that vibe so far.

@ 64: not everyone is going to like WG. just deal with it and appreciate the fact that they’re even in a US concert filled with thousands of people.

Ughh jealousy, I smell jealously. Being an opening act does not mean they’re not working hard. It just papa jonas amazed enough by their talent that he trusts wonder girls to be in their concert. Haha so many ppl can’t accept this amazing oppurtunity. And remember jonas brother was an opening in miley cyrus’. Lady gaga was an opening in pussycat dolls’. And look how BIG they are now. Why don’t we as an asian or whoever that supports kpop, united our supports. Hope for their best so they can be a pioneer, open chances to other artists breaking to the states =)

i don’t think BoA has any more chance than s7ven, but WG are, at least in America, much more known and even accepted. BoA is trying too much to blend in and we don’t need anymore britney’s or whatever, we need something refreshing and the WG might have a chance just because of that. So far none of the people i have introduced to BoA have shown any real excitement or even acceptance to her, they say ‘‘yeah, whatever. cute korean’’ that’s it. s7ven? ‘‘umm…party guy, right?’’ WG ‘‘oooh, cute girl group? the ones with the CATCHY songs? damm, i got one of their songs stuck in my head, i can’t get rid of it!’’ That’s were WG success is: their catchy tunes. BoA lacks it, even if vocally or even dance wise she’s better than WG (which by the way, BoA dances very amateurish, nothing too impressive same as WG), Take care!

meme(78): it is obvious that you are a bias and narrow-minded fan. i doubt that you even took a chance to look at the success BoA has received all across Asia, the kind of success that WG has barely touched. Are catchy songs ALL that WG rely on? They don’t rely on their talent? Their skills? Or may I say, lack of thereof? WG does not offer anything fresh. They offer what any teenybopper under the age of 16 want - eye candy with music that has no substance whatsoever. Tablo was correct when he was doing his interview with *. Koreans tried to change the trend and offer something fresh that they have lost sight of instilling that musical impression on Korean culture. Is WG seriously representing Korea with a song that mediocre and with a concept that represents more of the Western culture than the east? I am completely neutral with WG and I have nothing against them. I wish them the best of luck. But damn, sometimes you fans need to step down of your pedestal and look at things from ground level. BoA may not have the connections, but she has stayed true to herself, working hard and showing everyone who cares to watch just how capable she is in her abilities. She’s not relying on just flashy clothing, a glamorous music video, connections, and most of all CATCHY tunes to win people. Every artist willing to go out of Korea to represent themselves and their country should be respected, be it in Japan or US.  WG aren’t the only people trying to make a difference.

the problem with BoA and Se7en is there’s no need for a wannabe Asian Britney Spears or a wannabe Asian Usher when America already has the real thing.

Damn aesthetic, you pretty much said it all. I have a problem with se7en because he changed the way he talks and the way he acts. However, BoA has stayed true to herself. She showed us that she is capable of dancing and singing while showing that she can still adapt to any kind of music put out there, which is what an artist should do. How is she a wannbe Britney Spears when she doesn’t dress like it or act like it? I also watched Seoulbeat’s interview with Epik High and I agree wholeheartedly with what they said. So many times have Korean artists such as WG try to change the concept of the music or the trend thatit fades fast and never really leaves an impression on Korean culture. As a result, it’s not a true representation of what Asia offers. it’s just another fad. I’m all for WG. My problem is that they are relying on the younger audience to gain attention, therefore not earning themselves the title of a “real” artist when compared to the American singers who appeal to a more mature group of people.

you do know there are more ways than one to interpret what the media said. have it ever crossed your mind that the media meant it positively? that they associated britney’s past success to boa’s success in asia? seriously. be more open-minded.

god i hope they don’t represent Korea. I love WG and all. I think their songs are catchy. I want an artist that has true talent and skill to represent and pave the path for korean artist. Not an asian disney group targeting little children.

@49 (what the hell) well, what the hell are YOU talking about? WG being the opening acts is a better strategy because a lot of people will be curious as to who exactly these girls are.. If they made them perform after the Jonas Brothers,do you think a lot of people will still pay attention to them since they have seen what and who they paid for? just STFU.

anyone who thinks BoA can’t dance honestly hasn’t seen her dance. she’s pretty much the only female artist who could actually impress someone with her dancing without the need for being sexy or cute.

best of luck to WG. I hope they make it big. but i hope other more skillful artists make it before them. just my opinion.

@ 94. nene: let’s look at that article, shall we? * says ” For the most part, America’s no longer into meaningless pop” What substance does the song Nobody really have? okay. next thing * has said “For instance, Jonas Brothers excluded, teenybopper boybands and girlgroups cease to exist. ” Wg is a girl group, aren’t they? So not only are they offering meaningless pop, but they are a group that already has a limited chance of succeeding based on the American music trend today. Seoubeats also said ” They ignorantly believe that riding the coattails of a famous American celebrity is the key in which they can become famous too. Frankly, it’s insulting. It’s insulting to assume that the American audience is THAT stupid.” Now what exactly is WG doing? * said “The American music scene is very different from the Asian music scene.” Why is WG offering the same music in Asia and hoping that it would appeal to America? I suggest you read that article yourself and think about WG before you start criticizing other artists. also, here’s a link to Seoubeats’ interview with Tablo, who articulates what is truly messed up Korean artists for this generation.

@96. haha: did I ever say BoA or se7en? no, I didn’t. I just want an artist that can truly represent Korea. real artists like Epik High. please don’t start assuming because it only makes you look worse.
