Wonder Girls plans for America revealed

From 27th June, the Wonder Girls will begin a new chapter in America as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 (American leg), with their last on 22nd August. They will be opening for the Jonas Brothers for 13 of their concerts in 7 cities, so check the schedule for the actual dates. English versions of their Korean hit songs Nobody and Tell Me will also be released soon.

According to a JYP Entertainment representative, "The Wonder Girls had signed with one of Hollywood's top talent agencies, CAA in October 2008. They also inked a contract with Jonas Brothers company, Jonas Group to join them on their concert tour. They will also release the english version of Nobody first followed by Tell Me through digital channels. Their full-length english album will be available in September or October."

Sun and So Hee

With regards to using Nobody as the debut single, the JYP Entertainment representative explained, "Through discussions with CAA (Creative Artists Agency) and Jonas Group, they felt that Nobody had an irresistible charm surrounding it. The music and overall feel of the song were perfect plus it helped to accentuate the image of the Wonder Girls very well. Industry critics in America also felt that the retro 80s disco style of Nobody would be particularly refreshing, especially in the American music scene."

Yoo Bin and Yenny

As the producer for the Wonder Girls, JY Park also outlined to the media about his strategy with regards to Asian singers debuting in the European and American music markets. He said, "Formerly, Asian singers would rush to do collaborations with musicians in that country when they enter that market. But that's a grave mistake. We cannot just hand our artistes over to the American-European producers, we have to stand our ground and maintain our own unique flavor. Although the Wonder Girls and I are kinda nervous, we are also contended and excited about this at the same time. This is something that we have planned together for a long time, so I am sure we will not let everyone down. We hope that everyone will continue to show their support for us."

So Hee and Mimi

Before the Wonder Girls, SM Entertainment's BoA and YG Entertainment's Se7en have already make inroads into the American music scene. Everyone is full of anticipation about the Wonder Girls debut next. Meanwhile, continue to stay tuned to AKP for the latest on the Wonder Girls and our exclusive coverage on their debut.

Korean Kiddi-pop continues to try irritating the American market with horribly catchy pointless songs about loving your teddy bears and which make-up color looks better. Nobody in their right mind could call this anything other than an embarrassing showcase of a sheer lack of musical talent in Korea. Are all Korean singers capable of miming empty lyrics backed by a repetitive electrical track?

Try sending real artists who can play their own instruments and write their own songs, then people may start respect Korea rather than laugh at it for being unoriginal and talentless plastic models of American culture.

Though, there is a market in America for bad music and Wondergirls are ripe for that market.
