Wonder Girls Headed for Justice

As we reported earlier, the Wonder Girls are really gearing up for their American debut, first returning to the stage with the Jonas Brothers, then releasing an official remix and finally holding Meet & Greets in Justice stores on the East Coast today & tomorrow!

Justice... wha? Even if you don't live in the States, many of you readers probably haven't heard of the Justice store chain. It's a popular retail fashion store across America aimed at tweens; if you're like me and past that stage, think of the popular Limited Too of a few years back because they're under the same company.

Scott Bracale, the president of Tween Brands Inc's Agency, has expressed confidence in the company's new partnership with the Girls. The "Nobody" remix CDs are exclusively retailing for just a dollar and have already sold over 17,000 units in the 800 Justice locations that are selling them. With this success, Bracale predicts that the 30,000 CDs in stock will be sold out sometime next week.

It looks like Tween Brands Inc is serious about getting these CDs out - as promotion, the store appeals to both the tweens & parents (the so-called "Tween Network) by continually playing the music video on TV screens in each store.

"Something unique about this partnership ... is that we are selling the actual CDs versus the digital downloads," expressed Leslie Armour, president of the Youth Marketing Group, which consults Tween Brands. "No other retailers are selling the physical CD singles, but ... we [have found] that these girls really like to be able to feel and touch what they are purchasing. They like to have it in their hands when they leave the store."

"Record stores have all pretty much faded or gone away altogether, so for us to be in Justice stores is such a great opportunity," said JY Park of JYP Entertainment. This is true especially in Korea, the only country in which digital sales currently exceed physical sales, reportedly generating 56% of total music revenue in the country back in 2006. In the states, digital music sales are project to eclipse those of physical CDs by the end of next year.

JY Park continued, "We are getting the tweens excited for this single at a store they not only buy clothes at but they like to spend their time there."

So how did the Wonder Girls snag such a great partnership with a large company like Tween Brands? "The Wonder Girls struck us as being very tween appropriate," the president explained. "We are very selective about who we partner with, but if there is something new, different and innovative, we can most certainly deliver the viewership in our stores."

If you're located in New Jersey, it isn't too late to meet the Wonder Girls! Tomorrow, they will be in the Justice store at Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey from 4-6 PM. Check out this fancam of their meet & greet in New York:

retailing at just a dollar? huh?

Jenniferjl's avatar

how the hell do you know what stores they will be at??

I wanna see them!!

no avatar

17,000 is a lot.
@10: Thing thing about selling for only one dollar is great. It’s not about making money, but it’s a fast way to let everyone know about WG. It’s like hey, “cool song, and it’s only 1.00” So they buy it and learn who WG is. And than when the actual album comes out next month, people will already be familiar with WG. So the single at a cheap price is more to let everyone get to know WG.

uwaahhhh, i wish they’d come back to la D: .

Snapdragon's avatar

I’m buying that CD.
...but I’ve seen Justice. I never want to go in there D:
But if it’s for the Wonder Girls…I’ll do it.
And they need to hold a meet and greet over here in Seattle!
I want to meet them again sooo badly!
I didn’t have a chance to tell them everything I wanted to say Dx

JennyLump's avatar

Kind of concerned that they’re trying to make all the kids buy it.. cuz.. the WG are not little girls… But if this is the best way to reach out.. then ok?

MiselleCT's avatar

Haha cute, I am pretty bumped for the WGs.

lol @3 yeah they should come to cali~
i mean im not their biggest fan, but if they came here id totally go out to see them! lol

steele's avatar

They’re really trying to get their name out there, and you can’t fault them for that. Starting out virtually unknown is difficult for any artist in the US, and WG are doing their best. Hopefully they’ve found their niche in the “tween” market, even it’s not like the biggest success ever, or equalling their popularity in Asia.

Everyone should support their efforts in the US.

Jeni's avatar

there is justice store (or two maybe) nearby where I live….perhaps they will come down to Atlanta!

BBSHINKI's avatar

GO WONDERGIRLS!
hope they stop by CALIFORNIA soon =]

LOLZ… For reals? The Justice store? I’ve heard of Limited Too, but not Justice. I don’t even know one near me either. I’m glad that they’re trying to sell their CD, but I think a lot of kiddies and pre-teenies are gonna buy it. I guess this way just works for them and I’m glad WG is putting in the effort to get out there. They’re working hard.

kiddboy's avatar

OMG they’re so HUGE! what a successful debut they are having!!! O.o one dollar?!?!? imma buy some for my friends haha raspberry omg i need to get one before its sold out!! AGHHH im scared to go in justice tho… its a girls store LMAO… but of course ill do it :D @10 woah that makes sense!

I’m going to the GSP tomorrow to see them xD
There should be a lot more recognition for them at the GSP cos there’s a huge Korean/Asian-American population up here! Even a lot of white Americans know them through Korean friends ^_^

theoretically's avatar

Why don’t you all come to Houston?
THERE ARE JUSTICE STORES HERE.

loveelois's avatar

good for wg, but my 8-year-old sister shops at justice -_-

whatdatiff's avatar

it would’ve been better if they were at forever21 (since it is a korean company) and not justice (justice is for those teeny boppers)

Haleyy's avatar

Come back to Chicago!!
I have to admit. I’m disappointed that there efforts are being aimed at tweens.
Hopefully their fanbase doesn’t consist of Robert Pattinson-Hannah Montana-Disney Channel-crazed kids.
I’ll go to see them whenever I can (:

NanaBigBangShinKi's avatar

cool!! So sad I’m not in america T-T

deliciousFish's avatar

They should come to cali! D:

Chrissy_o_O's avatar

I think it’s good to aim at this tween market! That does seem to fit them and they could be more popular that way cuz little girls will eat that shit up! lol ^_^

Just look at Jonas Brothers, miley, anyone on disney! heheh. I dont watch any disney either but if going that route for the wondergirls gets them more popular then I dont care! Just one of my fave Kpop artists will be more all over the place in my country (*crosses fingers*)

WoAiNiHaru's avatar

Omonaaa I Wanna meet them so badly. Dx But I have too much to do, gar32qw fml.

LoveDeliah's avatar

EAST COAST, BABAY! :D

Justice? Damn, come to Forever 21; lots of love their

theoretically's avatar

31 - Forever 21 isn’t price friendly for those of us without moniez to spend raspberry Not to mention, all the ads I see for it have white people in them. Of course, you won’t catch me spending any money in Justice, either.

I passed by that store Monday and today
Why didnt they show up at Queens Center Mall T_T

@27: The cd actually has 3 tracks.

This makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. Happy that the WonderGirls are getting known in the US (large-scale now), but sad that they are being targeted toward ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS. I mean, before they appealed to teenagers and young adults. It just feels insulting, in a way, as if they’ve been degraded… demoted…
Ok, maybe I’m thinking too much. Haha, I remember Limited Too. Lots of glittery crap lined with rhinestones. There are a few Justice stores around here, but like I said, most of the customers are elementary school divas and junior high girls. High school kids just go there to pick up a cheap tank top.
I’ve just always pictured the Wonder Girls as entertainers a step up from Miley Cyrus and overrated Disney mania stars. Sigh…

@ 12 thanks for the explanation ..
i guess that makes sense. .but aww, the tween market? U_U

nartmaL's avatar

@10, so what if its $1.00 LOL its a nice price for 3songs! and too get wg spreading like wild fire~

no avatar

And hey, the suggestion made earlier about Forever21 would make me great deal happier about WG’s targeted audience. I mean, it’s popular enough to get people to pay attention.
@31: unfortunately, I think those ARE the fans…

WGholic's avatar

I wanna be there!!
but what the heck Tweens ?!

davidfresh's avatar

Holy crap 17k in the US? JYP actually did this really well. That’s better than BoA did @_@
Ahead of Boa and Se7en and probably Rain. Good job! Fighting!

davidfresh's avatar

OH man I really like that picture. The girls look awesome and LMAO at Sunmi. Wrong way honey <3

Sunflowers xx's avatar

WESTCOAST! pleaseee (:

cindyuknow's avatar

or did i read wrong?!
gogogo wondergirls [;

smilexeffect's avatar

“The Wonder Girls struck us as being very tween appropriate” <—Loling at this..
maybe theyve never seen So Hot or Irony perfs. smile wonder girls are responsible and self controlled, but i really think they shouldnt have said “very tween appropriate” within their reason to partnership with JYPE raspberry.
