Who is the Cutest Magnae of Them All?
The very emotional Changmin during the MKMF served as the muse to this little project.
Magnae is by definition the youngest member of a group. Now for Kpop purposes, the only responsibilities of a magnae are to keep their mouths shut, beam as the sun, and gain popularity for the group by triggering the mother instincts in women, and the pedophilia tendencies in men.
However, some of these talented (or talented less, I'll let you be the judge) young men and women have made quite a successful career out of their magnae status. Let's see who made the cut!
ChoiKang Changmin
We all remember Changmin in his kitty-kissing days, and it seems like the former cute kitten has transformed into a sexy beast right under our eyes. While he cannot yet control his voice like the veterans, this baby can belt out those high notes like the best of them. Even if the members suggest the youngest is always in charge in TVXQ, when Changmin grins at the camera, we can still see some of that animal loving innocence from his debut years. Don't cry anymore Changmin, lest it gives all the fangirls (this one included) a reason to rush to your side and kiss the tears away!
Sohee
Though I really want to write about both Sohee and Sunmi, since the latter is only a few months older, I suppose technically Sohee is the magnae of Wonder Girls. Miss Mando gives off the impression of "cute as a button, not quite as smart". But she bats her eye lashes at us across the screen, answers questions in a sheepish voice, and sticks out her tongue in embarrassment every few seconds, we cannot help but melt inside. She is probably the one with the most questionable talent, but with those endless legs and such adorable personality, I think this little wonder will go very far. She's already got a movie under her belt, who else can claim that?
Taemin
Little mushroom head (Formerly!) fits the magnae profile perfectly, with the bright eyes and the even brighter smile. Taemin has always had very few lines since SHINee's debut this year, which has led people to question his talent as a part of the already popular group. Kid can move though, as no 15 year old should be able to on the dance floor, and probably floors countless older women everyday. It seems that Taemin has emerged as the leader of a new generation of pretty idol boys, and only time will show us whether he is the weak link of the quintet.
Seohyun
Arguably one of the strongest singers of Girls' Generation, Seohyun always sort of blended in for me. She does not really stand out appearance wise, and with the always heavy eye bags she could probably pass as one of the older girls. At least the girl is smart enough to stay quiet, and not blabber her mouth all over the place and piss off everyone like Tiffany. Overall, a very blah personality I must say.
Kyuhyun
This baby had a fast road to stardom, having joined the Super Junior bandwagon quite late, and had to suffer through a bit of anti-faning before he grew on the ELFs and was accepted as part of the group. One of the most expressive voices in Super Junior, he is also part of K.R.Y., the subgroup best known for pure vocal talents. Even if the largest kpop group ever made breaks up later, he probably has a good shot at making it on his own, with that sexy voice and those oh so dreamy eyes, which are most definitely artificial, but who cares?! I sure don't.
Seungri
I like this boy! He is probably the best looking one of the group, TOP excluded, though that is no special talent in Big Bang. He is a very talented dancer, and choreographs many of the group's dances. The solo interlude in Lies was highly original and mesmerizing. His vocals were always dismissed, but the boy struck back by having the only solo single off of their new album. Beat that! Keep it up Mr. Victory!
