lol i just noticed how low is the album and single sales in korea if i compare it to Japan male groups like arashi who sold 500.000 copies in 2 of their last singles in just one week and female singers like amuro namie sold 1.7million copies in her last album and super junior just sold 110.000?!! and snsd who were toping the charts just sold 75000copies wow lol no wonder why many korean singers go to debut in Japan

it’s really low compared to other countries, It won’t make much money.. artists don’t depend on album sales nowadays, “thnks” to online legal or illegal downloads.. sighh I remember in 2002 just being a local band in my country can sold over 1 million copies.. thank god they still make money from CF’s, mobile ringtones, etc

Before the internet and mp3, album sales in Korea was up to 1.5 million - 2 million. But you have to account that Japan population is several times larger than South Korea.

seems like SJ wil dominte Hanteo by the end of 2009.  BB can outsell them any day with their albums but they won’t release anything this year. DBSK might not go back to Korea after their huge success in Japan. If it’s not DBSK or BB, nobody can beat SJ in terms of sales.

considering Japan is the 2nd largest music industry (behind America) in the world it doesnt surprise me that artist sell that much. but you have to take into the music industry recession in the past couple of years. it not only hit S. Korea but Japan and America. Its also cause of illegal downloads. But in terms of popularity in Asia SuJu and DBSK are way more popular than any Japanese Boyband. cause most Japanese artist do not venture out of Japan.
DBSK’s hug sold like 300,000 copies back in 2004-05. that was their debut single. while if u compare Shinee’ s sales with their album and mini-album combine they sold just over 100,000.  Also HOT, SES, Shinwa, FinKL their sales were impressive as well. Much more then how much artist sell today. But SUJU did sell over 250,000 copies including online sales and stuff.
