Um. I’m half African-American and I kind of didn’t see a problem with what he said, it wasn’t the best thing out of his mouth, but growing up in a country where very few african americans are seen, that’s all they’re pretty much raised around.  I’m sure a couple years and some aa choreographers later, he’s gotten the point that they’re not all out to get him.

Racism is the expression of prejudice in words or actions. In my opinion, Seungri is a racist. However it is much more complex than that and a kpop gossip blog is not the place for it.

@wonder: Beside the NYC van situation, he appeared in blackface in “How Gee”.  Many people did not like the video ‘cause of the girls but they did recognize what he was doing in the video and it was not cool with them. I do not remember if Allkpop did a post but I do remember seeing it on PS and all the comments from the VIPers.

Also I heard there was a video of him using the N word which was what Crimsonwave was talking about. I cannot confirm/deny this but it would not surprise me. Masta Wu used the N word in his 2nd album which is why it got banned and 1tym used the N back when they started. I’m sure the YG guys are using that type of language around them once in a while. 

Some of ya know me from soompi and know my feelings about this subject.  As an African American kpop fan, I am still sore since YG and Seungri have yet to issue an apology. I would like know when did GD apologized?

I do not think people should be so quick to dismissed others opinions and tell them “get over it”. Statement like that are why we are still having issues of racism and discrimination.

cindel25: Thanks for explaining the rest other incidents. Others didn’t bother to let others know what they were talking about. The whole blackface thing was pure idiotic ignorance. Seriously why would they let him film that? More people are at fault then just him. I’m not making excuses it’s just common sense. And was he and the other YG members using it the “N” word in a derogatory way or slang? Either way I don’t like the word and never say it. But there is a difference. But I also know that some people hate both words. I’m not at all making excuses. I would just like to know all the facts before labeling someone a racist because to me a racist is hateful person w/a superior race mentality.

I know a lot of black people that say the “N” word in casual conversations. I agree with others who say that he said it out of ignorance. Whenever I watch the news, many of the stories are about “young, black males” who commit crimes, which may also scare some people. This isn’t to say other people don’t commit crimes, but again, a lot of people say things because of things they hear.

Racism, to me, is an intolerance of another race, which I doubt Seungri is.

Now, as for the video, I’m not a big fan of Big Bang or their music, and the song is just okay to me.
