Sohee & Sunmi are Too Cool for School

The young and glamorous Wonder Girl maknae members So Hee and Sun Mi have dropped out of high school to focus more on their activities here in the U.S.

During a phone interview on the 15th, a JYP Entertainment representative revealed, "So Hee and Sun Mi dropped out of school voluntarily a while back." Until now, '92ers Sun Mi and So Hee have been attending CheongDam High School and ChangMoon High School, respectively.

The representative continued, "While in Korea, even though the girls were busy, they were able to squeeze school in with the little time they had, but it is not possible to do the same in America." Additionally, "Since one or two months ago, the topic of whether Sun Mi and So Hee should drop out or not was discussed among their relatives," and that, "it would be good if fans could look at this situation on the bright side."

Sohee & Sunmi are Too Cool for School

As for the other members, Yoo Bin is already on a leave of absence from Myongji University while Sun Ye and Ye Eun who were admitted to Dongguk University and Kyunghee University in 2008, have also signed up for a leave of absence as well.

Although I think that their education is very important, I respect big man JYP and his decisions. I mean, he's the genius that got the girls to where they are now, right? And plus, this is all for you guys, so let's cheer on the Wonder Girls as they make their big debut in America in two weeks time on 27th June.

Such a bad idea. Remember the fuss people kicked up about SNSD not taking the college entrance exams? Well, this is about 10x worse. I hope they DO get tutors or are homeschooled, because this is ridiculous. Shame on their parents for agreeing with this.

harman101's avatar

goodluck to them,
anyway they can take up their education
later on.

seriously i thinks education is 1st but they in USA what we gonna expect fly all the way to go to school!! i thinks JYPE already figure out something for their education..

tangy's avatar

this is horrible! i really can’t think of anything worse than dropping out of school. it’s such a waste.

it’s called a private tutor.

shepardlover's avatar

I hope they don’t regret that… smile

jharphe's avatar

hahaha i guess it works for them. my parents will probably smack me dead if i dropped out of school. go wondergirls~

yoobin_wg's avatar

Haha, well, they can’t go to school if they’re in America, or China, can they? So it’s kinda logical… but why couldn’t they just take a leave of absence??

Good luck WG! come back to school when you have time.

muigeital's avatar

if they’re in the states, they obviously couldn’t go to school…but i do hope they do finish schooling later on. education is important!

icecreeaamm's avatar

wows ><’ dropping education=/ they shall make it big!!! so the sacrifice for their debut in america would be worth it smile GOO WONDER GIRLS!~~

this will be interesting. i heard the english noboby on * and well… other than the chorus… which is alredy english…. it sounds pretty horrible… theres no rhythm with the english lyrics b/c well… translations never usually work like you want them to… and unlike yeeun and yoobin sohees part is HEAVILY digitalized trying to cover up her accent and weird lyrics…

enipi's avatar

the idea of dropping out of school did make me think ” wth?! “
but now that i see it’s been discussed with relatives, i think it’s resonable.
JYP good luck with the girls! (:

that’s not good. they They can not get tutors or somthing?

alot of singers had dropped out of school. not a biggie.. unless their parents really mind.. because singers themselves obviously make alot of money.. i mean.. if u look at some old singers/actors now.. alot of them didn’t finish education and they are rich and famous =P. but glad that some of them are on leave, at least they can still finish their education at a later time instead of dumping all that hard work away.

so sad to know this. Role model for what? Kids never learn fame can’t last forever, look at teenstars who once sensational for teen and look closer at where they are now. Well, highschool diploma is smth we at least need to have

itskaaattt's avatar

I heard the english version for Nobody on Imeem.
It sounds pretty good!

bekha's avatar

This makes me sad. I wish they’d just go back to Korea already. I miss them. I’m tired of Nobody and this stupid motown/ retro concept. To tell you the truth, I don’t really care about their Amercian debut. I feel like I’m struggling to keep Wonder Girls as my #1 favorite group. *sigh*

dbaek's avatar

school? why do you need school when you got that kind of talent?? and when JYP’s got your back??

just[BOAKS]'s avatar

sad to hear that they have to leave school. hopefully they’ll get homeschooled or something so they finish school. can’t wait for their debut in america!

Is everyone here STUPID?
I highly doubt that JYP would have them stop their education completely.
They all take their education seriously, but their scheduele’s leave them far too busy.
All of the girls have had high marks and have done well.
When Sun Mi and So Hee have time they’ll probably go back, because in their interview with CCTV they’ve both said that they want to be able to study like normal students again. But their careers also mean a lot to them so for the time being, it’s what they’ve chosen because seriously, a chance like this may never come up for them again.

blank's avatar

@112, Dumbass, I doubt you graduated from elementary school so shut the hell up and go to hell. smile

Ah.. well as long as they continue their education after they’re done with activities, I guess it’s okay. I mean, surely their parents wouldn’t allow them to just quit school completely.

choixes's avatar

aww~ that’s too bad. hope they just postponed it like JH did
and get back to school when it’s the time. studying is important girls ;3

no avatar

i guess they’ll finish when they get back to korea…

Stephy♥'s avatar

They must be seriously busy. O_O Well, at least there’s still the GED (Korean equivalent?) they can get.

I think it’s a really bad choice on their part to have dropped out. At the very least they should have finished high school. Couldn’t this have been easily done with tutors/online classes?
By dropping out they’re tarnishing the image of the Wonder Girls in my opinion.
I guess that in the end it all comes down to making $$$, forget values.

YUMyumMANGOmango's avatar

i hope they have good luck in america, otherwise dropping out of school would be bad irony

선미 !! & 소희 !! .... 원더걸스  ^ . ^

Niku_x's avatar

yay for WG!!.
cant wait love them <3
especially Yoobin♥

Jampe's avatar

I think they should just get all the assignments from their teacher.  when there’s homework the teachers should email it to their emails and they just have to learn and turn it in later on. it;s one way not to drop out though they can’t attend school

Christarr's avatar

Aww too bad~ I hope they are atleast getting tutors or something.

annafeera's avatar

That’s too bad. Hopefully they wont abandon education completely :/

chammerruu's avatar

hmm i don’t think its a good idea…

Education should be the number one priority coz time is not going to stop for them… Education cannot be erase while popularity could die….
but i hope they continue HS. they need too.
dnt bash me. im stating facts, here.

no avatar

That’s unfortunate, but I wish them the best of luck.
I wonder if they have correspondence schooling or a GED-type program in Korea…?  If so, they could still work w/ a tutor and get an equivalency degree later.

JennyLump's avatar

It’s hard to be doing homework, studying while also being a star. I just hope they go back to school once they have the time off. raspberry

Don’t be a fool, stay in school. This has been a public service announcement from ~Loco_Roco~ xD

what kind of impression/example will this leave on their fans now?

Forevang31's avatar

I’m sure the girls will go back to education when everything settle downs after the US debut. It would give them more time to study. I don’t think it would be forever that education will take a back seat. Remember girls generation at first some of the members weren’t going to school and now we hear a few of them started school again. :D I just hope they aren’t really thinking of dropping education entirely though I don’t think that would be good. To postpone is fine, back up is always a plus ^^

angelkamille's avatar

thank you dude! whoever wrote this..^^ i will surely look at the bright side., I’ll trust JYP one more time….

Bambayahh's avatar

sucks that they have to give up school, but if it’s what it takes to achieve a dream, then so be it. wish them the best of luck here in america :]

mssi's avatar

i think this is the right decision… hey. they dont need to go to school when they already have a amazing job… they can go to school anytime… until we old we still can study at school or college right?

Hem education is very important…. I mean sorry but u cannot live in entertainment world forever… Soon or later education will be needed…. Just hoping they will go back to their studies when they go back to korea smile
Anw wish the girls all the best… They are gorgeous n i just like the pic u chose smile

JennyKim319's avatar

I feel like even though education is important, they’re already so high up there that they can manage to survive on the entertainment world without having to have a high school education.

I wish the best of luck to Wonder Girls for their debut in America!

hakuchou's avatar

poor Ye Eun i heard that she work so hard to continue study TT^TT
