Shin Hyun Joon Admits Hitting His Manager
Although admitting to charges filed against him by his manager, Jang, Shin Hyun Joon has claimed that it was not as serious as the former had spelt out.
Shin Hyun Joon finally broke his silence over this issue as he held a press conference on the night of 25th September at the office building of his management agency, HFrame to address the media and public. Shin Hyun Joon's manager had filed a police report on 23rd September, claiming that Shin Hyun Joon had resorted to using violence against him earlier in the month.
Shin Hyun Joon started off by apologizing for any worries and issues that he had bought up with this. He said that he felt hurt that his manager, who had been like a brother to him and working together for the past 6 years had done this.
Shin Hyun Joon said, "I had been filming all this while in Jecheon and thus asked him to do five things for me. But he didn't manage to do even one thing right. On the 22nd, we were supposed to have a conference meeting to review scenes filmed in Jecheon with the director and production team, but he didn't show up on time. I thus decided to discipline him by hitting him lightly."
But at the same time, Hyun Joon said apologetically, "As an elder brother, I only wanted him to be more responsible and thus taught him a lesson. If he had felt humilated or felt that I was too harsh on him, I will admit that it was wrong on my part."
Jang had accused Shin Hyun Joon of hitting him on the 22nd saying, "At a club near Hongik University, he hit my chest and face, and also kicked me. There were eye-witnesses that day and I can also submit a medical report to serve as evidence."
Jang also claimed in a media interview on the 24th that he was often "hit" by Shin Hyun Joon, "I was hit by him (Hyun Joon) when I was late for the Hawaii International Film Festival in 2006."
Shin Hyun Joon explained, "I was supposed to have a media interview on the second day but because he (Jang) was late, it disrupted the schedules. To discipline him, I used my knuckles to hit his head lightly.
Jang also said that he had been hit by Shin Hyun Joon for not washing his car on time, causing him to be late for his schedules. Shin Hyun Joon said, "I only wanted to teach him a lesson because I was late for the next schedule. I rolled up a newspaper and hit him lightly, so I don't think that qualifies as hitting him."
Despite Shin Hyun Joon feeling deeply apologetic for his actions, it remains to be seen whether a compromise can be reached. Representative Jo of HFrame said, "They were like brothers... so I am deeply disappointed that it has come down to this. We will do our best to resolve this as best as we can."
The police are currently investigating this matter.
