SBS leaks out a secret for the Beijing Olympics

SBS Beijing Olympics KPOP Korean Music

One of the major television networks in Korea, SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) angered many Chinese netizens and Beijing's Olympic organizing committee when they released footage of next week's Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony. The SBS television crew filmed a rehearsal of the show earlier this week, and SBS released this footage to the entire world. The video was later deleted but many people already saved the video and it's currently circulating across the net.

This is surprising that a major corporation like SBS would do something so foolish. All television cast / crew members were required to sign confidentiality agreements to prevent this from happening. Maybe this is karma, considering SBS went on a copyright infringement spree recently shutting down coolsmurf's youtube pages in the process.

HAHAHAHAHAH people are firing up over this? what’s so special about the opening ceremony? I just want to see the games.

pride, I’m not defending the release of the leak and I have no idea why would a big TV station like SBS with some good heads on their shoulders go breach a confidentiality agreement (then provide the world with prove of their guilt.)  At any rate, the reaction makes this feels like the end of the world (while they have far more serious issues.)

In spite of broking confidentiality agreement, why don’t ‘SBS’(this three alphabet means bitch in chinese, What a coincidence!) feel ashamed of it’s behaviour?
It’s like an imprudent thief showing everybody the steal goods!
In this morning, the Kroea press office in Beijing Olympic Center has been plastered on the door “Your press are not welcome here!”
I hope SBS is punished and rolling home before the Olympic Openning Ceremony!

karma indeed. SBS got what they deserved. pfft.

Ahh yeah this..
I saw this on the news.
SO MUCH FOR FREAKING INFRINGEMENT.
This is far more absurd than what crime coolsmurf had
supposedly “committed”, which is basically sub
shows for us.
Tsk.. this is really disappointing.
Penalising people for something so little (like bring
entertainment to us non-koreans)
yet they themselves do such a lowly thing.
They really know how to degrade their company… =\

i didn’t noe SBS was sooo low…could do something like this. KARMA!!!!!

it’s definitely KARMA!!!
i haven’t finish watching FAmily Outing when they deleted all de clips..

Omgggg, Why the hell did SBS have to show that footage???!!!
How disrespectful, they just killed the moment, ggrrr.
But at least people are going to get their asses sacked ^^.
And they deleted coolsmurf’s channel?! Man that suckss O.o.

goldenGAZE's avatar

AHAHA KARMA, they deserve it for deleting the best youtube channel ever. COOLSMURF was legend, how could they! so many people got into Korean stuff more thanks to Coolsmurf, and how do they repay him, but deleting his channel. well i hope SBS gets a big fine for breeching the contract.

ai~ crepe!
I completely forgot that coolsmurf was the one doing WGM episodes on youtube. Now I won’t be able to watch it… grr.
Anyway… I wonder how they’re going to fix this?

“stupid koreans, always wanting the attention”

I find this comment very ironic, considering that China cheats the most in the world, stealing copyrights from the world and making and selling fake products to the world indiscriminately.

@Korean Ajusshi - most of the comments here aren’t bashing Koreans it’s just the negative backlash towards SBS for deleting people’s youtube accounts on copyright infringement and you shouldn’t be making racist comments about China which can offend some Chinese (me included)it’s best to not get too worked up over one’s racist comment (i.e.“stupid koreans…”) *peace sign* lol

no avatar

*ignores racist comment about Chinese*

is TVXQ gonna be at the opening ceremony too?? there was a poll on Sina, voting for whih foreign stars ppl wanted to see perform at the opening ceremony, and Rain and TVXQ were included. I voted for TVXQ hehe but i dunno if that poll actually applies… I HOPE TVXQ PERFORMS AT THE OLYMPICS THO!!

>>Pride. I don’t see what world you live in either. So this journalist broke their confidentiality agreement. The job of a journalist is to get news.
Anyway, the Chinese promised to allow free press.. which they didn’t. They invited Journalists/reporters around the world promising that they would not put any boundaries on filiming as long as it wasn’t tibet yet China Broke that promise first. That was one of the conditions of being allowed to host the olympics along with improving their human rights which China did neither of. I’m disappointed in China for not going with their promise. If it was so important perhaps they should have increased security. Regardless of the broadcasting station or country, if the security was of that standard it would have been bound to be caught on tape anyway.. just my opinion. Doesn’t say much about the character of the Chinese officials or integrity of the nation for not keeping any of their promises.
