Moon Hee Jun Wants More Credit

Moon Hee Jun H.O.T. K-Pop Korean Music

Former H.O.T. leader and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Moon Hee Jun, demanded more credit for his past work.

On an episode of MBC Come to Play, has-beens reunited to discuss their once booming careers, providing lots of laughter.

Moon Hee Jun who now believes he's a rockstar stated, "People don't know, but I had actually choreographed the dance for S.E.S' hit song I'm Your Girl." In addition he stated, "To be honest, I actually choreographed the majority of H.O.T's dances as well. Most people however thought Jang Woo Hyuk had choreographed the dances, which always made me a bit upset."

I truly feel Moon Hee Jun's pain, really I do. If I had choreographed some of those lame dance moves, I'd want to hog all the credit too, in addition to the 5lbs. of beef he devours on a daily basis of course. Anyway, anything beats being a wannabe rocker / Jenny Craig case study.

The episode of MBC Come to Play aired on the 25th at 11:15pm KST.

And for your viewing pleasure, S.E.S' I'm Your Girl.

He totally deserve credit!

Seriously…most of the H.O.T songs that made it big during those days were written and self composed by him like: ‘Iyah’, ‘Outside Castle’ and ‘Song for a lady’. He didn’t just wrote ‘love’ songs, he wrote about the current issues that affected people like, disability, violence and when that fire disaster happened in Korea. That’s what I call a true a artist.

Although the dance moves he choreographed for S.E.S aren’t as sexy and hip-hop as nowadays, it was what people were digging back in those days - when sex wasn’t the only thing. And if his moves helped S.E.S be at the top of their game, he has the right to be acknowledged.

Unlike today, most of the modern boy bands and girl bands hardly write any of their songs, everything is pretty much spooned fed to them. All they have to do is sell sex. It’s a shame, but it’s reality.

Is that a picture of you?

kerochan's avatar

maybe he deserves credit.
still i think that’s an embarassing thing to do - demanding credit for himself.

did he really say that? it’s a bit… ehh

excuse me but where’s SlaVe now? i haven’t seen her for a while.

#9: one thing i know for sure that Iyah was composed by Yoo Young Jin.

ohhh man i have not seen that performance by S.E.S. before.
i like it better than the cd track xD

Beat's avatar

Why can’t he compose his solo songs as good as the songs he did for H.O.T ?

@kerochan,
i agree wit ya…
seems a bit desperate dat he’s demanding credit for himself…lol

I remember he mentioned this in another show too, that he choreographed the dances during his HOT days, and that JWH would get all the credit… LOL.  It must have bothered him a lot back then.

Which makes me think, what if it isn’t Yunho making the dance moves for Rising Sun/OJungBanHap—and it turned out to be Junsu who made them instead?

^ Junsu would say something. >__>

Watching that performance was like a blast from the past… How terrifying.

it was awesome back in the days, and honestly, i miss the old kpop. ]=

The thing is, all members in a boy group (HOT and DBSK, for ex.) has… some kind of specialty, and for Yunho it’s dancing.  But the thing is, Junsu can dance as well as Yunho (I mean, he got training for like 6 years) and since Junsu can sing already, maybe they gave that specialty to Yunho.

HPDANM's avatar

^that’s true…but most DBSK fans know that Yunho made most of the choreographies but Junsu and Yunho helped each other out to improve their choreographies…
and I think, groups these days are better than groups before…their bond is probably stronger…Yunho would say it if he or DBSK deserves the credit or not…Though, sometimes they can’t really force it because media exaggerates everything, but he would imply it politely…
and seriously, Hee Jun is becoming annoying with all his worthless worries, demands, and etc…
@night…their songs that talk about the world and such were written by Yoo Young Jin especially “Iyah”

whatever i like woo hyuk better :p

i think yunho and junsu are the ones who really helped for the majority of the choreography….the boys always mentioned Junsu as their sensei in backstage clips and in the recent interview they voted Junsu as most likely suited to be a teacher in sm….personally im not being biased, but i think Junsu is a better dancer than yunho coz he got gracefullness, flow and coolness when he danced…Yunho sometimes danced really weird, have you seen his dance in star show?? it was really weird…but i guess they gave the title to yunho coz junsu already is the singer in the group…Jang Woo Hyuk was given the title as the best dancer in hot so i guess people assumed that he was the main choreographer…i guess the rumour was really true about hot that there was really some jealousy issues within the group….hope dbsk will not turned out like them

i TOTALLY agree 100%, I miss old school kpop, back then we had good ACTUAL music, everybody had talent back then REGARDLESS of looks, these days its all manufactured music and you HAVE to look good in order to get signed, or have surgery. Bring back old school kpop!

lol he should shut up cause his time is almost over anyways..

haha - Poor guy. He’s like a Kanye West. Hee Jun’s music is good. Let’s just keep it at that. Can’t defend him if he were to flip out like West did.

@Beat #15.

That’s because music isn’t the same way it was back then. Well Kpop music that is.

aww, Hee jun was my favorite when H.O.T was still singing. aww, was that andy and eric, they were soo cute back then! although they still are!

InYourHeart's avatar

Let me explain some things here, in H.O.T Woo Hyuk and Hee Jun were considered the best dancers, they had personally diferent dancing style, and each member was giving a role to play, Woo Hyuk was the dancer, KangTa the singer, Jae Won the shy guy and Hee Jun was the funny guy, seeing as how Woo Hyuk was the dancer people gave him the most credit for the choreography, like for Outside Castle, when most of those moves and the concept an idea was done by Hee Jun.

InYourHeart's avatar

Plus another thing, everything Hee Jun mentioned during the show was part of the show’s concept, i’m sure allkpop knows that, this show was about revealing the problems and dif things that went on in the group.
But whatever, whoever wants to hate can hate, cause if people ain’t hating that means you’re not doing your job right.
Personally i love Hee Jun’s music and i think he does deserve more credit, and about I Yah i read that MHJ collaborated on making the song, i’m not 100% sure, but that is what i read.
