thats actually not that bad of a thing to say about his sister. In fact, compared to the shiz i get from my brother, its kinda adorable and nice. 
About SIY though, I think alot of it is cultural. Korean men in general do not like feisty, outspoken women (thats considered too Ajummaish) and I think that the whole culture thing excuses him from his comment, but that dont make it true. SIY is awesome.

about the SIY comment, he seems like a typical korean man. at least he didn’t call her bitchy or anything, he just stuck with “feisty” which i think is a bit of compliment, in my opinion.
if i was a guy, i wouldn’t like SIY either, not cuz she’s fiesty, but cuz she’s materialistic and a bit bitchy (which makes for a great tv personality, but not someone you’d wanna be around)

Sounds like Lee Wan is trying to protect his sister from the massive cluster of men that are in love with her by making comments that make her seem like a frumpy, inelegant woman in the comfort of her home.  Tae Hee is one of the most sought after females in Korea and I’m sure Lee Wan has had to deal with that, in his own way, since she became famous.  He’s probably had his fair share of “friends” that only befriended him in the hopes of meeting his lovely sister.  So those comments also could’ve been a dose of brotherly payback.  He must’ve gotten a good revenge filled laugh out of it but she most likely gave him apiece of her mind if not a good beating the first time he saw her after this aired.
