Lee Hyori is Empty and Lonely
17 Commentsjinny in a bottle in News | 07 Mar 2008 - 09:17 AM

On Mnet's "Off the Record," Lee Hyori has become the subject of the show "No Rival." The usual happy-go-lucky singer, whose smiling eyes have become her trademark, showed a different side of the singer. The show sheds light on the darker side of the 30-year-olds life: a life of emptiness and loneliness.
On the third episode of the show, Hyori is sending her long time coordinator to China to work for another singer. The singer always saw her coordinator as a younger sister, who she often teased and called "pig."
"Now who am I supposed to kick?" the singer joked trying to keep calm. "At the farewell party we're throwing for her, I will try not to show my sadness."
Lee Hyori was one of the first people to arrive at her coordinator's farewell party. And when she began reading a letter she wrote for her 'younger sister,' tears began to fall.
While at karaoke, the singer did her own rendition of GOD's "Lies," by singing "I no longer like you, I found another coordinator (니가 싫어졌어, 다른 코디가 ìƒê²¼ì–´)." The parody made the singer laugh for the first time. However, when she sang the lyrics "goodbye," and "don't leave," the tears fell again.
"When I knew 30% of Lee Hyori, I always thought she was tough and honest. When I knew 50% of her, I saw her tired side. Finally, when I knew 100% of Hyori, I started feeling pity for her." Ahn Ji-Hye, a friend of Hyori, said.
Lee started saying she knows that the people she works with will have to leave sooner or later, but she expressed that whenever it happened, she felt so heartbroken.
The episode will air on March 8, 2008 at 11 p.m.
I too, actually feel sorry for her. You'd think that somebody with a network as large as Hyori's wouldn't feel lonely at all. But now, we all know that you can have a sh*tload of people in your life, but when it all comes down to it, you can still feel lonely and empty inside. No amount of money can compensate for a person's happiness. No amount of connections you have in this world, can buy a person's love for life.
It's obvious that she grew an unbreakable bond with her coordinator, and having that one person she's learned to trust... leave her side, is obviously hard for her. Originally, I was thinking of naming this article "Hyori is a crybaby," but, I won't. This article is not to portray Lee Hyori as a depressed, suicidal singer - cause she's not. It's to show a side of her that not a lot of fans/netizens have seen before.

30 is old??? Then Cameron Diaz needs to slit her wrists right now while Julia Roberts should hang herself twice. It’s one thing to say that someone’s a slut and another to criticize just because of age… Jinny and Crystal ~ I don’t know about you guys but I always like Hyori even though she’s trying waay too hard on the sex-appeal department!

Dammit, I was gonna make a sex comment.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Hyori. But there used to be a side of me that would just bash her without end. And I still do that, but as a joke… But after reading all that… sorta feel sorry for her. Losing a friend or seeing them leave is a very hard thing. It takes a lot for you to (not) cry in front of them.
Though, I can’t help but wonder what an entertainer like Hyori, esp at her age, is going to do in the future. Honestly, is she gonna keep the same “image” (not necessarily same self) or is she gonna get serious? That’s a dangerous topic… hmmm…
</end tangent>

i wonder if they joked back at her, “if hyori paid her employees enough money, they dont have to leave” i wonder if that would of stopped her crying. lol
i wonder if she is crying because she cant write 1 lyric or 1 melody cord?
kidding aside,i like her though. i believe she has alot of pressure and burden. she s probably finacially set, but if i was her financial advisor, knowing she has a 5 year window max , i would get a fragrance line, fashion line(underwear), recording enterainment corp… and getting more into the ownership of the products, rather than just endorsing products.
johnnyrambo, you said your connected with the mega group , eagle 3, can you get a hold of hyoris people for me
thanks babe

Sad article. I can empathize with Hyori.. There is no amount of money that can replace people that you trust and love..I think celebrities are more prone from feeling lonely compared to normal people. I don’t know the big deal about being 30??? so what! All of us will get old anyway..it’s just the cycle of life.

i realize that asia…or koreans…are obsessed with young age but i just crack up whenever someone comments (which is quite often lately) that hyori is old b/c she’s almost 30. i know 30 seems old to you 15-16 yr old kids but it’s not THAT old! she looks better than many girls a lot younger.
i don’t think getting married and having kids = happiness for everyone. she just needs a man!

@Jiyool,
dun misunderstand me…i luv hyori too…
i jz say dat i saw a lot of negative comments n remarks about her…
she was criticized rite in front of her by netizens in de tv show ‘Change’...those ppl say dat they rather prefer wondergirls’ members rather than her bcos she’s old…dat reali hurts n i reali pity her…
for me,i’ll choose hyori rather than those 15-17 yrs old gurls…
i was not de one who criticizes her…i’m de one who supports her…
n i definitely dun think 30 yrs old is consider old…
i still think hyori looks younger than her age n she’s definitely HOT…
