Lee Hyori in Tears

Lee Hyori

The princess Lee Hyori, known for her feisty and bright personality, burst out in tears while she was in China. On the 22nd, she arrived at in Shanghai for the filming of a commercial and was met by a mob of ecstatic fans. Trying to avoid all the chaos, she and her staff quickly made their way to the parking lot, only to find that the car they had rented had not yet arrived. The fans started to back her into a corner and began taking pictures. It seems like this was all too much for Hyori because she ended up bursting in tears. Some fans could be heard saying "Unni, are you alright?" and "Stop taking pictures please!" While others, of course, continued to harass her. The ones who did not stop, kept doing so even while the transportation arrived and Hyori was getting in.

Geez, when the fans started to back her into the corner, Hyori should have pulled a Micky Yoochun on their asses and called security.

Apparently Chinese media printed that Hyori was being a "diva" and was rude to her fans, but from what I can see, these fancams show that she looked more scared than annoyed.

I would’ve cried too T.T
Though Hyori is a star, it looked like she was treated as an animal.
They were chasing her and getting into her space :/
Poor Hyori.

@ gary “Maybe someday he can even grow up. “
....I highly doubt it, it took monkeys billions of years to evolve into humans. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took longer for he/she to be mature.

I think crying was a bit overboard. I can understand why, but I’m sure she’s faced worse in Korea. And with her 10+ years of experience in the industry, I don’t see how this would be at any way shocking to her.

Fans need to chill, though. So does the media. >_>
Her guards/transportation should be fired.

Suck it up? Uhhhh to those people, I say Shut The Fuck Up. If you think you are so cool saying those things. Well, you’re not!!!!! Where’s her body guard? I would be scared too. Yeah she’s a celebrity but she’s a human being first. At least there were a few who were being respectful and considerate instead of constantly flashing their stupid cameras. I think Hyori handled the situation well; even though she was worried/scared, she only tried to hide and didn’t do anything disrepectful.

Whose the dude who was acting as bodyguard? Or
was he the bodygaurd? Haha.

awwww , but that’s just normal for a celeb . she has to handle it and not cry
but i love hyori . :D

For the racist arse-wipes who use words like chink and communist to define and judge a nation perhaps you should take a look at yourselves before you utter such tasteless crap. As if this incident wasn’t bad enough for Hyori, it seems like the racist arrogant trash have to peep their ugly faces in here as well.

wow…this was scary to watch for some reason, she seemed like a MOUSE trapped in the midst of cats! what the hell just happened? the driver should be fired!!! & i understand why she started to cry but i think she could’ve made the best out of this situation by talking to the fans instead of just standing there like a loser… she seemed so pathetic…

ashtoh's avatar

wow it is so extreme…
at the end people are saying ‘dun follow her’
wow…this is scary ... no wonder she cried T_T

How about people who are saying “aw suck it up.” or “she deserves it.” just not comment at all. If you have nothing nice to say or whatever the hell you are saying is just plain rude don’t say it at all. Or if you don’t like Hyori how about just NOT reading this article. It isn’t rocket science.

To be honest, fans are like that everywhere, the only sad difference is that these fans were chinese, therefore non-chinese/ people who have discrimminatory feelings towards china will use their race to blame these actions, not unlike when white folks find out a BLACK person commited a crime, they all rise and go “black people are dangerous/crimminals~” crap, I can’t believe I would come across such a racism on a site like allkpop.

@26
I would chose my words more carefully

Hyori is known for being amazing towards her fans…the situation got out of hand…but I’m sure she’ll forgive them for it

If I were a celeb I would want a body guard with a lttle more meat on his bones…hahaha

hm…reminds me of when changmin cried after being stalked and fans didnt know what to do….

From what I could hear a few of the fans kept shouting at the rest, telling them to stop taking pictures and that they’re scaring her badly. Later on that same fan asked her if she was alright.

I dont get taking pictures at idols at such horrible and crowded conditions. The pictures you get are all like super horrible half assed shots, blur, with random people heads everywhere.

The only time where idols usually bother to smile at you or give you a signature etc is when there aren’t that many fans, and none are chasing her and shoving cameras, cause once you do that theyll start running with their assistants pushing everyone away. If theres little ppl and you approach them and ask some might agree to it.

Ok, so I speak chinese, and it seems most of the fans were telling people and back off and stop taking pictures, - the so called harrassers were the paparazzi, which are all bitches no matter where they’re from…..................................      ” Apparently Chinese media printed that Hyori was being a “diva” and was rude to her fans,”        Umm Jeen, could you provide me links to these chinese media sources? Knowing your past bias inaccuracies, I’m not going to just take your word for it.

pretıque's avatar

Actually,
if you watch the fancam,
the woman in the purple was trying to get people to stop taking pictures of her and asked if she was okay, people werent shouting at her,
they were shouting at the fans who were crazy, to back off
in the end, where everyone was shouting,
they were asking everybody to stop taking pictures of her etc.

besides, the people are only like that because people in Korea have a chance to meet their idols (Kimpo Airport, Concerts, Performances on TV shows etc etc) where as Shanghai .. I dont think Hyori held a concert there before, soo.. i guess.. t hats why.

@ 26, youre fucking pathetic, get a life seriously, fucking chinks?
get your facts right before posting.
fuck you.

wonder's avatar

I don’t know why people are bashing Hyori. She didn’t even do anything. She pretty much just stood looking obviously upset. They shouldn’t have chased her and blocked her into a corner but at least they eventually backed up. They never touched her and I could her someone ask her in English if she was OK. If they were acting like that when she was just standing still imagine what would have happened if she gave them even a little bit of attention. They would’ve gone crazy trying to get her to notice them. In this case it was Chinese “fans” (fans shouldn’t act like that… actually, nobody should act like that) but they aren’t the only ones that do that and everybody that does needs calm the hell down.

OMG, I feel so bad for her. What the hell was up with the car, how come it was late?!?!?!?! The chinese media is messed up for saying she was acting like a diva. If it was me I don’t think I would ever take another trip there again.

@117. hjiin2   “Too bad for you that hyori alone is more valuable than your entire country. Sorry dog, that’s just how it is.”  Ironic then that Hyori is going to a country to make money off them when she’s meant to be worth more, lets face it, Korean celebs have to go to other countries because Korea doesn’t pay them enough. It’s too small and with the economy is facing recession, celebs are facing paycuts. If Hyori wants to be safe she can stay in Korea, but she’ll continue to pimp herself out there, because money comes first.

From what I hear, Chinese/Taiwanese paparazzi are generally like this (remembers Elton John in Taiwan) Celebs from China go through this crap all the time, so they are likely to have gotten use to it and are more able to handle these situations, If chinese media did report it like the way you said jeen, then itS probably because in comparison to Chinese celebs, Hyori didn’t handle the situation and well and they mistook that as being “diva like”

Let’s put things into perspective.
Was she groped? No
Was she touched or manhandled? No
Were things thorwn at her? No
Did she fall or was hurt physically? No
So wat’‘s the fuss, people?

The fact that none of the above happened shows that security was not the issue. The issue lies with Hyori herself.

Look at Hugh Jackman and Daniel Henney when they were at the public function in Seoul. All smiles and handwaving because they know that without the fans, they’re nobody but nobody.

Couldn’t really tell if she was crying, all I could see were her brows all furrowed. Man, this is tame compared to korean cassies who grope, touch and make identical cell phones so they can get into dbsk private lives. Yoochun’s divaness is a product of assertiveness, he’s setting the boundaries. Hyori didn’t cope with the situation well. But no one touched hyori, no one said bad things about her, most were telling people to back off. As for the chinese media thing, well in general Chinese celebs respond better to situations like these, Hyori in comparison would have come of as diva like since she couldn’t maintain her professionalism. (Where were the bloody body guards when you need them? shit)

I feel kinda ashamed that the Chinese treater her like that, especially since I’m one of her fans. x____x;; Poor unni, if i were in the situation, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to handle it and probably would’ve bursted into tears much quicker than she did. .___.;; For people who think she should suck it up, try putting yourself in her position and really think about it, then you’ll see her point of view instead of being a dumb anti. (:

its a double edge sword being a celebrity.  they get many many perks because they are famous but the down side is they lose their privacy.  its a trade off that they have to live with and that is how it is in the real world

if you dont realize that when people become famous that this sort of stuff happens to them then you are a retard. it happens everywhere. not only in china. so pls stop with the hating on the people that tell her to suck it up because thats what she should do and that is what she tried to do here.

please dont blame the fans because without the fans she would be a nobody.  blame the lack of security guards and those who planned her arrival to china

if they did their damn job then hyori wouldnt have been stuck out there in the first place.

my friend actually met her and she said hyori unnie is nice. hearing the “diva” part makes me broken hearted because i know it’s not true. she’s a celebrity but she’s human too. there’s actually something called “personal” space and the shanghai fans and all fans in general should respect that. fuck this pisses me off cuz if that was me i would’ve totally said something to those bastards <_<

I just read the same story about Hyori on another kpop site, the article there was unbias and only provided facts that could be backed up with sources. (APPARENTLY chinese media called her a diva? Where? Can you prove it? Can you read chinese jeen?) The people there commented about the crazy fans, but no one blamed the fans crazy actions as being attributed to being chinese. I think I will stick to that other site from now on, at least the writers and readers there aren’t racist, predjudice airheads who blurt out insults without using their brains.

Ah, I know somebody who needs to get fired… how come Lee Hyori made it out without anybody checking outside if the car was there and what’s worst that “manager” let her run into a PARKING lot and hide behind a van, Are u crazy? Well she would have never pull a Micky on all those fans cause she had no bodyguard to help her.
She should have gone back inside the airport asap, safer than behind a van…whoa!
