FIRST ANNUAL KOREAN BBQ COOK-OFF FESTIVAL IN LOS ANGELES

Select Korean BBQ restaurants will compete for the title of best dish in town

LOS ANGELES, CA - On Saturday, August 8, 2009, the Korean American Coalition - Los Angeles (KAC), in partnership with Yelp and AllKPop.com, will host its First Annual Korean BBQ Cook-off in Los Angeles, CA (http://www.koreanbbqcookoff.com). The Cook-off will feature 10 Korean BBQ restaurants that will sell select grilled meats to the public and also participate in the cook-off competition. Judges for the competition will include Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Pulitzer Prize-winning L.A. Weekly food columnist Jonathan Gold. Their booths will sell select grilled meats to the public. The event will also include a Coors Beer Garden, an eating contest with a mystery ingredient and a live DJ providing music. The event will be held at the parking lot of the Summit on Sixth Building located at 3223 W. Sixth St.

WHAT: The Korean BBQ Cook-Off presented by the Korean American Coalition - Los Angeles (KAC), in partnership with Yelp and AllKPop, will be held on August 8, 2009.

* 5,000 participants expected for the event
* Ten restaurants are participating in the competition including Byul Dae Po (Star BBQ), Ham Ji Park, Jinju Galbi, Mu Dae Po, Park's BBQ, So Hyang, and Soowon Galbi.
* The restaurants will sell dishes for $10-15/plate.
* Other food booths will include (tentative list): shaved ice, drinks, grilled corn, and more.
* Barbecue categories will include LA galbi (marinated bone-in beef ribs), galbi (marinated boned-out beef ribs), pork ribs, bulgogi (marinated sliced sirloin), and grilled intestine barbecue.

WHERE: Parking lot of the Summit on Sixth Building, 3223 W. Sixth St., Los Angeles 90010. The event is accessible through the Walgreens parking lot off of Vermont Ave. or Sixth St., as well as off of New Hampshire Ave.

WHEN: Saturday, August 8, 2009 from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm

* Eating contest with mystery ingredient - 2:00 pm
* Cook-off competition - 5:00 pm
* Awards ceremony - 6:30 pm
