Jo In Sung struggling with Air Force training

Actor Jo In Sung had enlisted in the Air Force last month for his mandatory military service, leaving his fans worried over whether he was able to adapt to the tough military training. A photo of Jo In Sung in uniform was published on the Air Force official website soon after his enlistment with his fans mighty relieved to see their idol looking in good shape. But new reports have surfaced today that, although Jo In Sung looks fine in the photo, he has suffered greatly during the tough training regime and had already been hospitalized twice within a month.

Jo In Sung

According to reports, the army places great emphasis (extra tough) on basic military training, especially when it comes to new recruits. You don't get any special treatment even if you are a well-known star. Although Jo In Sung is noticeably older than most of the recruits enlisted at the same time as him, he has to go through the same punishing training regime like them without any discounts. In addition, as a well-known star in Korea, Jo In Sung has to shoulder extra stress from the attention showered on him from his superiors and comrades. Because of the stress, Jo In Sung had to visit the hospital a few days after enlistment for treatment, after developing gastric ulcers. Shortly after recovering from that, Jo In Sung had to be hospitalized again for 3 days on 29th April after injuring his right shoulder during a routine training exercise.

But the nightmare for Jo In Sung will be ending soon on 15th May as his basic military training schedule comes to a close at the Republic of Korea Air Force Education and Training Command. Jo In Sung will be moving to Osan Air Base on 18th May where he will serve out the remainder 25 months of national service with the military performers section (band, music, MC work, etc) under the Air Force Operations Command.

isn’t the ROK AF training shorter then the US AIRFORCE? i’m not sure about their basic training but i’m sure it can’t be tougher then the US AF because the US AF training has been known to be cake walk and even if it IS tougher, its only a few weeks. alot less then any military trainin here. if you ask me guy is just being a pansey.

i don’t see why everyone makes a big deal about serving your country…and to be honest the only reason anyone can get hurt during basic training is because their slacking off .

He shouldn’t have chosen to go to the Air Force then. The Air Force, Navy, and Special Forces are the hardest physically. The Navy is the biggest bitch though, because you have to clean those bloody big boats everyday.

Isn´t the korean military into humiliating their recruits non-stop?

I´ve heard about another korean actor (TV show) who had to go through a similiar treatment. He also mentioned how much ridiculous things he had to do simply because he was being told to.

Here in my place the recruits have the rights on their side——-the officers have to be the ones to watch out!

(Who here has actually been there and can tell?)

^ What do you mean treatment? Every recruit gets treated the same, and these days the officers have to be a lot more careful not to step on some spoiled kid’s toes who will go crying to their mommies. Jo In Sung isn’t being abused, he’s just doing the same training as everyone else. It’s just a tough regime, as the military SHOULD BE. A lot of singers who go to the army often get asked to sing their songs and dance e.t.c. but it’s just all in good fun. That’s why Korean celebrities who talk about their military time often say those things JOKINGLY. Of course, since they are celebrities, the other kids who are training there with them will probably be focused on them, which may be weird for a celebrity since they’re unable to escape from the rabble in the military, unlike the outside where he has private vans to run away in. The superiors have a lot more self-control.

Well, when you go into the military you need to prepared yourself for anything and everything, that’s just how it is, although I feel sorry for him, he needs to toughen up.

okay, some of you commented on the hottie in uniform next to Jo In Sung, but what’s up with the guy who’s over his left shoulder ... a few heads back?  everybody’s got the military buzz cut but it looks like this guy squeezed through with all his hair intact!  lol

anyway ... it might be a hardship on In-Sung now, but this training will make him tougher.  Just a few more days ... then it’s off to Osan!  hang in there, In-Sung!
