Ivy returns on M! Countdown

After making her comeback with a showcase, Ivy continued her promotions with her comeback debut performance on the 29th October episode of M! Countdown.

Much has happened since her last album two years ago, and Ivy has put in great effort for her 3rd album, hoping that she can still cut it on stage. Having cut an exclusive deal with Mnet (they produced her showcase), Ivy gets to perform her duet, I Am... with MC Mong and two of her solo songs, Goodbye Tears and Touch Me in full for her grand comeback tonight. Will she be able to do a Baek Ji Young type of comeback?

We will have to wait and see.

Many thanks to Jae Eun for the tip.

Haha, Baek Ji Young’s last My Ear’s Candy perf was epic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oj5Q0wg4lM

She doesn’t have the voice to make a Baek Ji Young comeback. Baek Ji Young made it through her sex scandal because her voice was amazing, but this performance proves that Ivy doesn’t have quite as much talent. She’s just another sexy artist.

great perfs

Ivy’s voice is stronger than Baek Ji Young’s in my opinion. She’s got weaker when dancing and singing but omg..hear her high notes anyone? I did and they were spotless

i got nothing but love for ivy…shes really pretty too
but not really feeling her new songs…great performance though
best of luck to her :]

on the other hand…i loved baek ji young’s songs…..her song with taec was soo catchy and cute too
and her voice is beautiful :]

She so freaking good looking and HOT.Her dance skillls are good too.The song is also catchy.

@12 no way.Beak ji Young’s voice is the best of all the female’s singer out there.Ivy doesn’t even compare.

@10,  Did you EVEN watch performance?  Ivy’s vocals in the performance was definitely not “talentless”.  Ivy has a stronger voice than Baek Ji Young.  Baek didn’t rise to fame because of her singing skills; it was her “sexy” dance that got her famous before her scandal hit.

Baek is a “good” singer, but she isn’t amazing; she doesn’t come to mind when i think of Korea’s most powerful vocalists.. I think Ivy can totally sing better.  The only thing i don’t like about Ivy is that her voice is too “generic” sounding.  Baek has a very distinct, husky voice whereas Ivy’s voice doesn’t stand out.  She’s still a better vocalist in my opinion.

I really like her ballad songs in her new album as well as the song she features in Mc mong’s….
But i’m not digging her “touch me” track…
I just don’t think its that good +++ I don’t think it was the right choice of song, given her scandal and everything….

freakin love her vocals!!

nysophia_x_ii's avatar

she’s not talented enough like baek jiyoung, nor is she sexy enough OR charismatic enough like lee hyori. what’s so great about her?
and plus, why would she try to REVITALIZE her “sexy” image after the sex scandal that basically killed her career two years ago?

Her comeback performances was pretty good, I really like Goodbye Tears

@20 Ivy is very talented and her comeback performance showed how talented she is .. she didnt even sound breathless or tired while she was dancing and singing and she got something that lee hyori dont have and that is her voice Ivy can sing perfectly while dancing but lee hyori cant and she always sound breathless

#22 people always compare ivy with hyori but seriously, even if ivy is more talented and never had a sex scandal she could never live up to hyori. or baek ji young for that matter.

i’m glad she’s back.

ivy’s freaking amazing. i think she’s really underrated given her dance skills and amazing vocals. just listen to her live perf, it’s amazing!

ivy came back with better vocals. i love i am and goodbye tears. not so sure yet with touch me but i still need to listen to it more.

#20: Just because she had a sex scandal doesn’t mean she should change her whole “sexy” concept and change to a ballad or something. People know what happened its not like she can totally just act like nothings going on.  And OBVIOUSLY she’s still got it even though her “career was killed 2 years ago”. Shes on top of like every musical portal sites -__-

@23 um, ivy doesn’t need to live up to hyori, she is grossly overrated.

she’s still a sluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.
