well. bowing and being respectful is a really big deal in korea.
i’m kinda surprised that artists didn’t stand up for H.O.T (good for DBSK for standing up!)
they were really big and popular when the were active. but i guess times have really changed.
i don’t know. i would like to see the footage too.. (hehe. most of the fancams i saw of other performances were really dark…so maybe it was just a misunderstanding? i hope so!)

Someone mentioned this already but I’ll say it again: if it was SNSD not standing up everyone here would be bashing them. But since it’s not ppl are all like “it’s not a big deal.”
Uh. It doesn’t matter if H.O.T disbanded, Moon Hee Jun is a SENIOR of the music industry and it doesn’t take much to just STAND UP and show respect. The fact that only DBSK stood up shows that they are polite but it also shows that the other groups ARE NOT. Fangirls/fanboys need to stop being delusional and face facts that the other idol groups failed to show a simple gesture of RESPECT.

like what everyone else already said, DBSK has always been respectful and polite…possibly the most polite and the most humble out of all the stars out there…they bow and greet anyone, may you be just a normal staff….they don’t have the “We’re on top” attitude…They even bowed to WG…is that someone 3 years senior would do to a junior? Of course not….one factor is that they admire HOT….Junsu and Jae the most as they claim to be die hard HOT fans….
Those people who didn’t stood up probably don’t know how much HOT impacted Korean entertainment industry, let alone idol groups. There won’t be Hallyu Wave without them and there won’t be the current popularity idol groups enjoyed today without them…it’s just ignorance…
and to someone who stated, yes, they do value seniority a lot…

DBSK respects and idolizes H.O.T. a lot. Not just they are DBSK’s elders but DBSK were fans of H.O.T.
Especially for Junsu & Jaejoong… they LOVE H.O.T.
During their ‘Hug’ days or whatever, Junsu & Jaejoong said that they were really big fans of H.O.T. They got into fights cause they were standing up for H.O.T. And I’m not quite surprised that they stood up and clapped.
As for the other idol groups, maybe they weren’t fans of H.O.T. but to SechKies, G.O.D., Seo Taji and etc., but it’s nice to stand up and bow to someone who has been through this industry for over a decade.
And as for what some other people said about the SNSD fact. I agree, when SNSD disrespected Shinhwa or whoever, I’m not sure, everybody was just bashing SNSD for being rude. Now everyone can bash on the other artists for not “respecting” Moon Hee Jun’s acceptance award.

Idk what else to say. I think netizens really have a heck a lot of time on their hands and just to analyze that.

Over polite? How can you be over polite? It’s part of the Korean culture that you have to respect your elders. Even if you don’t know them, respect them. Bow when saying hi and etc. If you don’t respect your elders, then others will see it as your mom didn’t raise you well enough and gossips start and people talking about that person like his/her mom didn’t raise him/her well, etc etc. It’s also about how you look. There’s a lot of factor.

DBSK was taught well to respect people older than them. But in the entertainment world, anything goes, anything happens, following “order,” and more factors can go into why they didn’t stand up. Anyways, always respect people older than you.

I guess I kind of understand how the whole award presentation thing was a bit awkward because it wasn’t like there were other “contenders” for the award.

Some people give an excuses that they don’t know H.OT or not idolized him, well before this awards given to him he was there standing and perform with all the new male groups. Even if you are ignorant at least you know that he was SOMEONE to give that kind of stage.

I know I only watch DBSK fancam, but they looks like they enjoy other artist performance. They clap, they shout and sing with the audience. Doesn’t look like a celebrity at all, just another audience with a better seat. Even Yunho gives a thumbs up when 2pm get back to their seated for their performance. Talk about respect and humility!!

its hard for young ppl to understand how big of a deal this award probably is to moon hee jun and the rest of the HOT…they aren’t a group any more and he has to do this on his own, as an older artist amongst teenagers, who have a larger fanbase than he did back then, he must fear that he’s replaced…this is a recognition for his life basically, and those other kids can’t even be bothered to stand up? i dont care if you are a fan of HOT, you stand up for respect, for the progress he made before you. i dont really know what im saying but reading the ppl who said its not a big deal just makes me angry

I don’t find it to be such a big deal.  I doubt that they are paying attention at these awards anyways…and most people stand up…when people around them stand up.  If no one stood up then no one stands up…it’s like a ripple effect.  The awards are given out like candy…no one cares about the little ones except for the Best artist or best song etc…

Even though I personally wasn’t part of the HOT craze…I don’t see why they are giving out an award now…there are many other groups out there that were popular too.  Plus it’s not all members of HOT…only Moon Hee Jun, who never even achieved popularity outside of HOT.

I only found one video (well two but they were cheering for shinee) were dbsk was standing and the rest were sitting down… Im not sure if this is the video for this topic though…

I agree with ... here since we haven;t seen the cams and from the oens i’ve seen the artists stand up for everyone no matter who, so it seems weird they wouldn;t stand up for one person. Plus the only reason DBSK standing up is seen more is prolly cuz all the cassie’s cameras were aimed at them the whole time.

eumakai: they’re giving out this award because it’s mkmf’s 10th anniversary. and while it may be true that other artists were popular, H.O.T takes the cake. they were THE artists during that time. and no, the award was for H.O.T as a whole, not just moon hee jun. he was just there to accept it because almost everyone else I believe was serving military time.

@nerner, Shinwha wouldn’t be popular in China if H.O.T. didn’t start the hallyu wave there.  Did shinwha get the similar popularity in some other countries that H.O.T. didn’t get? No.  Rain, on the other hand, expanded the Hallyu wave to many more countries with the combination of drama and music performance.

I watch the MKMF awards live and when they actually did pan out to the other groups usually people were standing and clapping. However i will say DBSK is one of the more respectful groups out there. In fact out of everyone there they seemed the happiest and the most cheerful. (during the performances some people looked dazed while DBSK always seemed into it no matter what lol)
