It seems like the drama of this year's MKMF absolutely refuses to disappear. Netizens are buzzing about the various idol groups' reactions when Moon Hee Jun received the MKMF 10th anniversary commemorative award on behalf of the ancestor of boy bands, H.O.T.

Fancams of Moon Hee Jun's acceptance of the award surfaced on the internet recently. The video showed that none of the idol groups stood up other than the elder statesman of the new generation of artists, DBSK. The rest of the idol groups just clapped nonchalantly in their seats. Netizens are angry at the disrespect shown to Moon Hee Jun, because it is an established fact that without H.O.T., these idol groups wouldn't be anywhere near where they are today.

Netizens are split into two camps on this issue, some are saying that idol singers have grown increasingly impolite, that in any other fields people would not dare to be so disrespectful to a sunbae (senior) of 13 years. While others seem to think that the reactions are a bit too intense, and that the idol groups certainly respect their sunbaes, that they just don't show it properly.

What a shame! I feel that this is quite inexcusable, I mean even in Hollywood, when someone like Harrison Ford goes up to the stage, the whole audience stand up. If they can show that much respect in the U.S., they certainly should in Korea. It's not the first time that someone suggested that proper etiquette is disappearing in the KPOP world, does this prove that they're right?

DBSK really looks up to HOT.
The other groups.. probably not as much, but it doesn’t mean they couldn’t pay the respect towards a senior.
Hmm.. if SuJu was there, they would’ve stood up right? Since they really look up to HOT too. xP

DBSK Fan—-> Proud and have Major Bragging rights

Other fans——> Justifying their groups actions through they’re not part of SM, Not important to stand up (imperative in their minds), doesn’t believe the whole thing, Blamed the Netizens instead of their own disrespectful Group…

woot_woot: You’re seriously out of your mind. It doesn’t matter if it’s ONE of H.O.T or all of them: They’re STILL H.O.T.
And don’t say he’s fat and ugly, because he lost a lot of weight, you can see it, if you’re not completely blind, ok??

I must say it’s pretty disrespectful. I watched a lot of award shows, and most celebrities stand up, if someone gets an award. I always thought that these Idols nowadays are really disrespectful, it’s crazy!!
Although I’m not a big DBSK fan anymore, but everyone should give them credit for standing up. At least they still have manners.

Was Big Bang there? I watched videos of them with Tony Ahn from H.O.T, and it was funny (!) how respectful they were XD They bowed so many times, they nearly overdone it LMAO I think even Tony was a bit taken aback of how many times they bowed to him.

It is sad that no one really knows H.O.T. That probably means that people who are posting here are around..16 or 17, or even younger.
H.O.T. was/is a legend. Their FC did invent the white balloon and color tradition. Everyone knew H.O.T., older people and young children alike. If we listento their lyrics, beyond the colorful costumes, there was sincerity and wishes for change. Almost all of their songs in ALL their albums were number 1 Hits. Me and my friends were crazy about them, and 10 years later we still remember all the songs and lyrics. They sold record-breaking numbers of album. People dressed up as them, wanted to meet them, be them. No doubt the IDOL genre changed alot. No doubt some newer groups might be more talented. But H.O.T. paved the ways for IDOL stars, their looks, their identity. If anything, even if you don’t know them well, you should understand that they still command alot of power and they are to be respected for what they were. The first succesful and famous IDOL group.
I will always love H.O.T.

im not really an H.O.T. fan but in my opinion they are the most important group in the kpop music industry, the newer groups shouldnt be so disrespectful about it.
