Harisu Says No to Sucide

With the recent suicide of former President Roh Moo Hyun, Korea's most famous transgender celebrity, Harisu, has reached out to prevent suicides among transgender talents. Harisu said "I wish that there will be no more transgender suicides" and opened a transgenger club.

On the 13th, 'Mix-Trans Club' was established. Recently, there were two up and coming transgender entertainers, one known as the "Harisu Part 2," Jang Chae Won, and another up and comer who had a 'coming out' and received such severe backlash, Kim Jihoo, both committed suicide. Harisu said, "My heart was broken upon hearing the news of the suicides of my friends and colleagues. I wanted to make a beautiful place for people to come together after coming out and suffering the same pain."

So far Harisu's collected a small group of 20 members to create the 'Mix Trans' performance group.

It's a very nice thing Harisu is doing for the twenty some people in the biz... but who will do anything about for the former presidents and other straight, one-gender celebs? Where is their club?

Its really a good thing that she’s done…I wish other more well known celebs, like idols who have more influence would say something about suicide or just say no against it so people will listen.

Tiffy's avatar

Good for her.
She is really pretty.

Linzer007's avatar

Good. She is a good example for transgenders and for other people too. For those who don’t like transgenders, you should read Luna by Julie Anne Peters. It really opens your eyes. It also makes you think.

Anyway, I am glad that she is stepping out to help.

Good thing that a celeb is stepping up to say no against suicide. Bad thing that people are still prejudiced over the fact that she’s a transgender. *sigh*

She’s doing a great thing trying to prevent any more suicides. Korea has had too many this past year especially.
Sorry, I just wanted to clear things up, just so people would stop saying “He, him, etc.” Harisu is a woman now. No longer a guy. Those women on that poster are females now, not men.
Also, to whoever said that he or she feels sorry for anyone who falls in bed with any of them, should be ashamed of how close-minded that is and how offensive it is for any transgenders. Sorry, but that’s just plain rude.
My statements might sound over reactive, but I’m just trying to clear the air.

I was watching Pleasantville last night again, and what Toby Mcguire said in one scene really struck me with how similar things are today in relation to GBLTs. He said “You can’t control it! It’s in us. It’s in you! You can’t control what’s inside of you. And you can’t make laws to suppress that.” It’s just wrong to deny fellow human beings their full expressions that nature intended. And don’t give me any religion crap about it being “not right.” The Bible is filled with so much hypocrisy and contradictions, that you have to question the validity of it and what kind of audience it was made for.

@ 25 and @26- I agree totally with you guys…

@ 25: I agree with you too!

That is a good deed! I hope the suicides streak will stop soon!

i don’t know what to think. i mean, they DID sign up to be celebs, & there are certain things to be expected with fame. on the other hand, they ARE all human, & they need their time & space too. I don’t know if it’s because of their job or not, but people need to learn to talk to other people more if this is happening. i think that if they did, people would recognize their need of help. really, not that i mean any sort of bad to the dead, but they should have thought before this. suicide is permanent - problems are not. people look up to these idols & they should talk to others before making the (wrong) decision.

on the other hand - yeah. harisu is a girl now. she’s not 2 genders. : P agreed with 25.

@ 26 i hate it when ppl bring up the bible for no reason. i don’t need the bible to tell me this is wrong.

Like you said its “in us” And in me this is dead wrong.

But i think it is great he is helping them. We are all misguided lambs.

@ 9

It’s nice to see most of the commenter give positive remarks.

I hope the nasty narrow minded people will soon open their eyes, since they’re not perfect themselves.

Harisu is doing a good deed, trying to give support to her fellows, so why the hate?

I dont care what anybody says but as much as he ” wants ” to be a woman, hell never be.
I hate trannys

Plus how is ” he ” using his own status to help? ” he ” is only helping his own kind, which in my eyes is selfish.

What about the other straight dudes that suicide?

P.s Dont bother qing what i said.

@ 47 how could one is selfish while reaching out helping other souls (regardless trans or straight).  As for other straight dudes?  They’re waiting for the ‘unselfish’ you to come and rescue them.  lol, if you haven’t lift a finger, don’t call this one selfish, pathetic!
