Gummy decides to Trot along

Gummy recently returned with her fourth album and new single '미안해요 (I'm Sorry)', but she is yet to be satisfied. Gummy has a new challenge now, she's going to attempt a new genre of music: Trot.
For those of you not familiar with Trot, it is the earliest form of Korean Pop Music (sounds terrible), perhaps the equivalent of American country music. Regardless, Gummy says that she wants to give this genre a whirl for her next album. Why, of all genres, has Gummy picked trot? According to her, trot is something that she enjoys to sing and she wants to sing trot in her own distinct "style".
Has Gummy gone crazy or is this going to open new doors? Personally, I don't think any artist is supposed to give any genre a "whirl," you're either good at it, or you're not.

I’m all for talent wanting to try new things, that’s how they become better at whatever they’re doing instead of searching and recycling things from inside their bubble. You don’t know unless you try, so good for her for wanting to try something different.

@aikomidori: Yeah it looks funny huh? But it’s actually a weird way of spelling the Korean version, 거미, which means ‘spider.‘ They tried to be cute with the spelling and make it easy to say close to the Korean sound, but it just ends up sounding stupid to English speakers.
