Girls’ Generation: Tae Yeon Can’t Sing?

Girls' Generation member Tae Yeon has received a great deal of attention for her solo OST theme song IF (see video). It was February’s Song of the Month; consistently remaining number 1 on the charts. Due to its success, Girls’ Generation has also gained more fans and respect, all thanks to Kim Tae Yeon. No one can argue that this small leader has preceded expectations on singing ability (especially if you're in a nine member girl group called 'Girls' Generation).
On March 13th, M!Countdown had Girls' Generation perform their new single Baby Baby (see video), in addition, Tae Yeon was given her first solo performance on stage. Though both performances were sung live, no one knew that Tae Yeon actually messed up on the first try. Music shows, who usually record days prior to air date, have the ability to edit anything out.
Tae Yeon is well known for making mistakes while performing. On February 20th, the leader was also criticized for forgetting her lines during a performance on a radio show. Tae Yeon is still unexperienced and very nervous on stage, when she does get it right however, she sounds great.
She also sings on the Special Stage with Joo (see video).

I thought the music got cut off during her first performance so she had to redo the performance? (There’s a fancam somewhere on youtube.) However; she did stumble on a few words in the second (?) performance..
Anyways, I’m surprise you didn’t mention her special stage with Joo on Music Bank.

^lovelypetals I watched that and I must say she owned JOO in both songs. It must suck to be JOO though, to have someone out sing her at her own song.

newbie mess ups…..they’re fun to look back on and laugh at.
she’ll do better….a little time, a little effort, a little fish in her diet for that memory….she’ll be fine.
Just hope it doesnt take a year, 2 songs and a change to another country like Ri In. 0__0 love that girl but wtf.

aaww! i love “If” mainly because i love Hong Gil Dong…i dont know anything about these girls but i like Kim Tae Jeon’s voice in the song…but not enough to want to check them out…i mean, a pop group of 9 girls? PASS…

She’s lucky she gives SNSD some credibility. ... but not by much. If she’s such a good singer, she’d be solo or something. The fact SNSD has nine members screams to me that they’re trying to compensate for something.

i don’t understand why people don’t give snsd or super junior etc. a chance simply because they don’t have your typical amount of members. i think lee sooman is smart as hell and jyp must think so too if he’s debuting a 10 member group soon.

and she sang with full emotion,maybe yeah she still kinda stiff but duh she always perf with dancing,i think it’s normal when she perf solo she bcmae stiff and kinda nervous w/o her friends around her
