Girls' Generation SNSD

Today Korea announced the first annual event called Girl's Day. In light of this fact, it would only be fitting that our 9 lollipop licking girls in Girls' Generation would be chosen to open this day.

At 1:30pm today Girl’s Generation played their two hits “Kissing You” and “Girls' Generation” at the Seoul Olympic Park. The goal of this day is to educate young girls about feminism and the importance of the role of women. Future generations of girls in Korea will be taught to take up leadership positions within Korea’s society and become equal with their fellow man.

Hmm…this is bad news. Girls in Korea have been doing well in the kitchens, but now that this annoying concept known as “feminism” is starting to gain momentum, we may lose our dishwashers and our 밥통 (rice makers). Thanks for nothing, Girl’s Generation.

...I’m a girl and I totally think this is the stupidest thing ever…

Actually I find the fact that they are using SNSD as their opener stupid. I completely support the idea of promoting women as leaders… but how do they represent feminism? All girls will get from them is how to dance like a cheerleader, wear short skirts, and be a barbie doll. All men will get from this is that innocent young girls like to act cute and wear uber short skirts just to please them. Performing “kissing you”? um… wrong song choice?

Couldn’t they have gotten someone a little more mature and er… I don’t know… Its probably that I’m imagining SNSD in the place of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Blackwell… >_>

My sister made me watch a crapload of SNSD videos. I must admit, some of their songs aren’t that bad.
I might even have to call myself a fan soon. Damn. :T

m not against them..but educating young children…duh they should
dress properly..maybe after ten years girls in Korea will wear only
two-piece when they go to school.and they would take up theater or music as their majors too..too bad…

Feminism hasn’t “started to gain momentum”. It is a dynamic scene that we have been witnessing more or less globally. Your comment was naive. But hey then again, you want to incite these emotions in your readers right? Just to start stuff, eh?

Better SNSD than Wonder Girls, right =/?  At least they can sing, so they’ve one-upped Wonder Girls in the race for role model status =/.

feminism…as exemplified by a kpop girl group…what a joke!!

in an industry that pushes youth, appearance, and the bottom line (profit), feminism is the last thing that makes money…

the only thing that makes sense is this “girls’ day” is a publicity stunt…if they make this into some sort of “lilith fair” concert series with many girl acts, maybe they can make some money…

they might even be able to legitimize their “feminism” claim by donating a portion of the profits to scholarships for girls or girl leadership conferences/workshops, possibly holding those conferences/workshops in conjunction with the concerts…

whatever…

I’m not one for feminists, but I think SNSD was just trying to get girls to move from the mentality of a normal housewife. Stop being jerks xD
It’s like saying you’d much rather have Hyori locked up in a house all day than seeing her ass on stage hahaha.

How sad…I would have actually preferred the modern, hip, original, charismatic, ambitious, CONFIDENT, and EDUCATED WonderGirls (even if they can’t sing) over these pathetic plastic wannabe-wimps any day.

I this is what our country is teaching to little girls nowdays:
“Feminism is about dancing on stage and wearing not skirts but the micro ones.“
I guess this event was attended by the ajjushiduls, hope they had a fun time.

who knows maybe both? what would you expect from a site that serves garbage to the ignorant masses that would make the tabloids green with envy. You guys should start a circulation and charge people a membership fee. Maybe if people paid for it they would feel like they’re not wasting their life.
