Eugene Was Tempted To Go Under The Knife?

Former S.E.S member / idol turned actress Eugene has confessed that she is trying to fight off the temptation of getting plastic surgery.

The actress is currently shooting for a drama titled, "Creating Destiny," and said, "When I monitor myself from time to time I really get tempted to have surgery but I'm trying my hardest to resist it."

The 28 year old actress continued, "As I'm getting older, my skin is not the same as it used to be. I think I look less pretty in real life than on the television screen. Since it's my job to show my face on television, I cannot stop thinking about my physical appearance. At times when I look bad in pictures I say to myself, 'Should I fix my lips to be slightly bigger?'"

However, she mentioned that, "I have been strongly resisting the urge of having surgery and instead I am trying to become prettier by trying to lose weight. Even though I want to have surgery, I am afraid that the surgery might fail and ruin my face. I am currently restraining myself from eating meat and eating a lot more fruits and vegetables instead. "

Her last statement was, "I am not afraid of aging. Instead I am excited that I will soon become 30 years old. As I become older, I want to become a more mature actress and be different than everyone else."

I have to say I could not have been more proud of her as a fan. Eugene is a truly respectable actress and I hope for the best that her drama becomes a huge hit! I mean, she does not even need surgery. She is surely a natural beauty that stands out in the Korean entertainment world! And I know that South Korea has a reputation for being "plastic" but contrary to popular belief, South Korea is only ranked 27th when it comes to plastic surgery procedures per capita (19.654 per 100,000 people). Comparatively, Switzerland is tops (214.621 per 100,000 people), Hong Kong 6th (73.866 per 100,000 people), Taiwan 13th (43.889 per 100,000 people), Japan 18th (33.623 per 100,000 people), and the United States 19th (30.768 per 100,000 people). "Creating Destiny" will air on October 10, 2009.

Ain’t nothing wrong with aging gracefully or taking care of oneself. But I also say the flip side of that coin is that there is nothing wrong with wanting to freshen up. Whatever makes you feel the best right?::::
If she feels better maintaining her career without it then I say awesome for her. But I’m not going to “loose my respect” for her because she decides she’s going to do something that’s going to make her feel better and help her career. -___- If anything, I’d have more respect because whatever decision she makes or has made, it sounds like she’s thought it through.

Korean celebrities are obssesed with their age.Being 30 is not old.

Switzerland cant be number one or on tops…i mean i live in Switzerland in Bern in the middle of all happenings and i must say(no way i could be racist and all)but well…if sooo much people (214.621 per 100,000 people) would do cosmetic or plastic surgerys here, then it would be like a wonderland of beautys….but sorry swiss woman are REALLY atractiv ( ugly).....they dont even like to wear make up….....
Of course there are in every land beautys…look the current miss switzerland(2008) Whitney Toyloy! tall and beautiful , but there are not many of them….thats my point of view so i didnt mean to hurt anyone ....

She really doesn’t need surgery, shes right in thinking it will end up ruining her face…because it probably will.

Shes too beautiful to get messed up ^_^

Actually women start to look more beautiful with age and experience. Of course their state of mind has a big role in that too. Happy and confident people shine a lot more than depressed ones.
Staying confident and accepting the changes your body goes through in the aging process and also learning to be content with what you have is the key to achieve this in my opinion.
I don’t mind surgery however it doesn’t really solve your problem of aging anyways. =P
It’s all about the things I’ve mentioned above.

shes such a natural beauty, she’s beautiful the way she is.. when she performed on stage with bada .. my jaw dropped cuz she was such a stunnnerrr.

H8erade's avatar

17. Loara - If you think there’s a lot of ugly people there, then there’s more reason for people to get plastic surgery. 215 out of 100,000 people isn’t that much, that’s like 1 out of every 465 people or so.

LishaBaby's avatar

Also in real life. Would you like to hang out with some plastic beauty, that has no personality and just adapts to whatever is the trend nowadays or a person who can be confident of themselves and enjoys life the way he/she is.
In Korea people are fixed on looks too much. I can’t even name bands/singers, famous as SNSD or 2ne1 who don’t look like that “ideal” image. Maybe I’m not good informed enough. But did you ever see anyone like the singer of The Gossip (Heavy Cross) I don’t think so. And if you don’t know The Gossip then I’m really sorry, but where the hell do you live.

si_muntu's avatar

Pls don’t Eugene… Don’t ruining your face…

ChangMin Honey's avatar

Why Eugene don’t you do it and it don’t come out right can’t go back..aka Michael Jackson, Cher their faces look so distorted. I love her just the way she is, it would change the specialness that is Eugene.

etc.etc.'s avatar

I’m so glad she’s not choosing plastic surgery.  I imagine the pressure to look young can be overwhelming at times. Just read the comments here on allkpop about anyone who’s around thirty, which is not even old.  But hopefully, people like her and Hyori and Lee Young Ae can stay strong and resist these pressures so they can become the trendsetters.

sassy_girl's avatar

she is pretty *_____________*

Semblance's avatar

People need to be less shallow and just be happy with who they are, including this girl. She doesn’t need shit done.

Loara's avatar

21. H8erade
Yes at this point you are really right…but still i wonder why they dont impress at all even thought so much people over there do plastic surgerys…maybe i should go and check one of the clinics(there are a lot in bern)ask around and such stuff

no avatar

don’t get me wrong, i love her and S.E.S to death but,

I was always under the impression that she already got plastic, long ago?
or was that Shoo?

honeyxswt's avatar

Eugene is already beautiful so please don’t get plastic surgery to ruin your face!

no avatar

it would be interesting to see the distribution based on age, i.e. how many people get plastic surgery within age groups.

CryMellow's avatar

You don’t need surgery! You’re gorgeous enough as it is already.

Leyzell's avatar

She’s pretty enough and has talents [singing, acting…etc.] already to carry her own career. raspberry

no need for surgery.

Well, free health care is prolly why Sweden has such a high percentage.  Plastic surgery is prevalent in all first-world nations.  Koreans honestly have that rep because of the stereotypical “double eyelid” surgery (which 50% naturally have), but Koreans are genetically / naturally very attractive.  Koreans are one of the most genetically homogeneous people in the world - of course a lot of the stars and their ideal of beauty will end up looking similar.

BTW. 2ne1 is definitely not a “typical” beauty lol.  And in all celebrity industries - FOR MOST countries, 30 is considered old for females.

InnocentSorrow's avatar

Her lips have always bothered me. But yea I agree with 34 about healthcare. I think it’s not that south korea has such a reputation for high surgeries in the country, but when it comes to celebrities most do.

xmaiyer's avatar

she dont need it!!!

Wuntun1's avatar

i think she looks perfectly fine ^^

tricia07ann's avatar

she’s just pretty the way she is now..people shld be always thankful on wat they have.. yes plastic surgeries can make it go wrong too.

no avatar

o good thing she didnt!! eugene unnie is my fave member from s.e.s and one of my fave actresses. and i think she’s becoming more and more prettier as she becomes older

LQVE's avatar

she is perfectly fine the way she is (: really pretty evn if she says shes not !

Tasnia's avatar

she’s very pretty and she most definitely doesn’t need it! i don’t see the harm in people using surgery to make themselves prettier - there’s nothing wrong with it - but it’d be a waste of time and money for her because she’s beautiful!

Mrillness99's avatar

well…i am glad she didn’t go under the knife…she is already blessed with natural looks…man she’s gotta be one of the top 5 prettiest actresses in Korea that DIDN"T GO UNDER THE KNIFE….she’s just MAD PRETTY

pandacolour's avatar

eugene is a natural beauty. even if she went under the knife, i won’t think differently about her. she is fantastic, and i like that she is truthful.

no avatar

i love her makeup! i showed this to my sister for ideas for her wedding :D

ambot,..'s avatar

I DON"T THINK SO!
she’s definitely BEAUTIFUL the way she is
and i love her<3

davidfresh's avatar

This is what I tell everyone lol. Nationmaster.com doesn’t lie, Korea is like in the bottom 10 countries that use plastic surgery. This is of course out of the countries that have a respectable amount, but yep, 27 is right. And she is SO pretty, but I understand she’s human too. Time is man’s greatest enemy no? Eugene FIGHTING! <3

sushitogo's avatar

she can just have laser treatments if she is worried about her skin.  laser treatments can make your skin look younger.  i think she is still too young to do it though.  also i doubt that ranking is true for korea. http://english.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2009/09/08/2009090800228.html

naari's avatar

dude you look pretty enough dont need no surgery

Angelfish's avatar

Awwww, Eugene doesn’t need plastic surgery, I think she’s pretty just the way she is. smile

@ 47 while the article was very interesting, it does not state which rank Korea is.

I think she still looks very pretty off and on camera. I like her lips cause they’re not pumped up so much like many women are getting done these days.
