Shinhwa member, Kim Dong Wan, shared with OBS TV "Watch the show and movies [Star Corner]" how the group maintained to stay together for over 10 years.
"Despite the stress of being a celebrity, the members of Shinhwa have learned to be considerate and have always been there for one another," Kim said. "And I think because of that, we can proudly say that we are still a well-respected idol group."
The 29-year-old began to talk about how one of the members, Eric, has given up so much to stay and make the group a success.
"Eric was given a once in a lifetime opportunity," the singer said. "But, he turned it down because he didn't want Shinhwa to split up because of him."
Kim Dong Wan then said that the group members were all well-aware of what offer Eric was given.
"One night, Eric asked all of us to meet at a bar," Kim said. "And at the bar, Eric revealed that he had rejected the offer, and asked all of us if it was OK if he remained in the group."
According to Dong Wan, a group's success isn't only measured by how big your fan base is - but, it's also measured by each member's dedication to the group.
"Exactly how much are you willing to give up?" Dong Wan said. "That's what you have to ask yourself before you come into this business."

Eric is really a great leader, it’s no wonder the rest of them look up to him. Not to mention he also paid for the rights for Shinhwa to keep their name, when they were moving companies…
To the six of them, Shinhwa is their life, and they’ve definitely given it their all.
Looking forward to the 9th album, and 10th anniversary activities~!

i soo give props to this grouo they’ve been
such a inspiring group for sm town…i seen
there ups and downs just from a fan’s perspective…
their like the inseperable korean n’sync…haha lol
but overall i like eric and dongwan’s dedication
to the group…although most already have gone solo
and even pursued acting they can still some back together
again..aja aja fighting!!!!

FIRST, I LIKE TO SAY THEY ALL SEEM NICE GUYS, BUT HAT DID HE SACRIFICE??? WHATS WRONG WITH A BAND ALBUM AND TRYING OUT A SOLO PROJECT? TWICE AS MUCH MONEY AND SECURITY IF THE SOLO ALBUM DOESNT DO WELL. I BELEIEVE ALL THE MEMBERS EXCEPT ERIC HAS DONE THIS. WHERE WHAT IS THE SACRIFICE. Did you not read the entire article? Well if you didn’t, to answer your question of “What did he sacrifice?“ Eric got an offer but he gave it up it because he didn’t want the group to disband because of him. So Eric was selfless & put Shinhwa first before his needs. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be a solo artist, but Eric is the only one in the group that hasn’t gone solo yet I believe (correct me if I’m wrong please). He has helped his fellow band members (i.e. Andy) in their solo careers. Anyways, your comment doesn’t even make sense ... well at least to me it doesn’t haha. I tried reading it over .. but you keep asking “What is the sacrifice?“ It’s stated bluntly in the article. If you can’t see it, man .. I don’t know how to even begin to help you see it

there are alot of others who have stresses in their lives. they might actually consider, like myself, “stress of a celebrity”, as laughable

Thanks, being a devoted fan girl is a hard job
Celebrities are regular people too. They are allowed to stress even if
us non-celebrities don’t think it’s a big issue, to them it is.
Everyone stresses out in their own way about certain issues.
What’s big to you .. probably won’t be big to me & vice versa.
