Epik High Tablo

Epik High member Tablo wants to set the record straight, that he's not arrogant.

On OBS TV's "Watch the Show and Movie, (쇼도 보고 영화도 보고)" Tablo made an appearance for "The Interview" segment. During the interview he wanted to set the record straight that he is not arrogant, but rather humble and grateful. Tablo addressed concerns that many view him to be arrogant because he is a Stanford University graduate and the center of attention in Epik High. Tablo stated that his educational background is all thanks to his father who pushed him so hard to finish up school, and if it wasn't for his father, he would've never attended Stanford University. Instead, Tablo says he would've attended a film school, as his original dream was to become a movie director. Tablo also stated that as soon as he made money debuting with Epik High, he paid back his father for all of his educational loans.

Nice try Tablo, you made a very worthy attempt at salvaging your humble image, however actions speak louder than words, and with all the rumors that you will be ditching your Epik High nobodies, you fail.

He’s turning into mini Rain: so full of himself.
Well at least Tablo has talent, Rain doesn’t.
All Tablo wants is attention, whether it’s bad or good.
What an attention whore!!!!

How is he a “attention whore”? Because he was being interview and he stated he’s not arrogant? Don’t compare Rain to Tablo hunny, I mean really Tablo barely is in any news it’s not like he’s… Brittney Spears =\

But really tell me how he’s an “attention whore,“ I would like to hear this one lol

I don’t think he’s being an ‘attention whore,‘ either.  I just think the other two members of Epik HIgh haven’t stepped up their game.  They don’t try as much as Tablo in the sense of putting the light on themselves.  Mithra, I would say tries… just not hard enough.  The other guy.. DJ something.. what? Who?  Lol.

Sorry who said he was arrogant to begin with?  Plus, no one really thinks of him as the best member in Epik High too-  he may be the most popular one but Epik High is nothing without Tukutz and Mitra too…and because Tablo is getting his solo album doesn’t mean that he’s not in Epik high anymore.  Hell, if anyone had the opportunity to show his own work, completely on his own…who wouldn’t. Why put blame on him?

I think Tablo has the right to say that he’s humble…because he’s himself, and he knows himself best. o_o I don’t see any arrogance.
I don’t think he really ‘ditched’ Tukutz and Mithra. It’s his (or his company’s) choice where he goes in his career, not their’s.

Actually he is arrogant.. especially to his fans..
my cousin went to see his concert in new york, and after the concert they both happened to go to the same restaurant in K-town.. but when my cousin and her friend approached tablo for some autographs, he just turned to her and said “Can’t you see that we’re eating?“ in a really rude way..
so they waited until he was done eating.. and after, he just left the building… TOTAL douche.

^ I can understand why he did that. You gotta think how celebrities are bothered all the time, I would hate to be bothered while I’m eating. To ask for an autograph while someone is eating is rude in it’s own way.

^I agree.
But then again… as a celeb, you gotta take that responsibility. Especially since if you start acting that way, it’s very bad and whoever you did that to will start spreading rumors to make you look bad.
Then again… it’s just human nature to feel crappy and be angry…
Lota sheit happens to celebs. Can’t blame ‘em… well all the time at least.

^ But it also comes with the territory of being a celebrity… they pretty much asked for it, when they decided to take that route and cash in the big check.

@SteFunnay oh man my friend went to the same concert, but he said that Tablo was nice. He signed autographs for him and his friends lol. Maybe it’s cuz he wasn’t eating at the time lols

WHAT A WASTE OF A STANFORD EDUCATION/DEGREE…

i don’t think that tablo is arrogant…he just puts himself out there more than the other two memebers, so of course he will get more attention than the others.

i actually think that tablo is really funny, but Mithra Jin is way cuter than tablo…..i like the chubbiness on Mithra.hehehehe

i agree with 5th a complete waste of an ivy league education.

I don’t think it’s a waste at all, because he has a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. It looks like some of you didn’t even know what kind of degree he had before sayin it was a waste… Well Mithra does poetry from what I heard and writes lyrics for other artists. As for DJ Tukutz, he’s been a DJ all over Japan and America. Also Tukutz is a good singer surprisingly lol

^ the stanford education was not a waste!! and in fact, it’s very worth it! if he didn’t attend stanford, he wouldn’t have been able to write all those songs and would’ve pretty much killed himself. it was his dying friend who told him to continue on with his dreams. he uses the rhyming rifle technique and all of EH’s songs have a meaning behind it…but most of them are stories about problems in society. he’s actually not arrogant…he’s pretty emo most of the time..

good job johnny…u got the fans on forums heated again!! haha!

@FoxyLady415—i did know what kind of degree he received from Stanford, but i still think that he is wasting his talent in writing kpop music when he could be doing something better with it.

Do better with what? Writing for some magazine? Writing for some newspaper? He’s doing what he loves & making a lot of money, so I don’t see it as a waste. Also, Stanford isn’t Ivy League… and Tablo also received a Master’s from Stanford.

@De La Methode—-mmmm better things with his degree….well being a best-seller is not that bad look at JK Rollins she made millions, or a professor at a UV seems better than being a kpop artist…..but that’s just my opinion.

and oh my bad if Stanford is not an ivy league school.raspberry

^ If only having a best-selling book were that easy. JK Rowling went to some no name schools in England & Paris. She also studied something completely different as well.

A professor? You think it’ll be fun to be a professor? I don’t see the appeal in that. Let’s see, make 5 figures (about $70k) & teach students for about 8 hours everyday vs making 7 figures (a million or two) & not have to work everyday.

^Well I’ve never seen him write something of note, so I can’t judge if he’s talented in that department. His lyrics are ok. Even if he went to a different field (writing), I don’t think he would have an effect on many people lives. But what he’s doing now, he’s bringing a lot of people some joy with pretty good music. At the end of the day, if he’s happy then he’s doing the right thing… and having a lot of fun/making a lot of money at the same time.

True, but i never said being a professor is fun. i was mentioning better things he could be doing with his degree.

and professors can effect people lives…..teachers do influence people to be better.

does it matter that stanford’s not ivy league? it’s more prestigious than half of the ivies anyways. he could have worked in the US and easily gotten more pay than he does in korea… after all, the US dollars are worth more.

There could be better things some athletes (in the NFL for example) with degrees can do besides play football, but how many people are gonna pass up millions to go teach or be a engineer, etc? Yes, teachers can effect people lives but the key word was “MANY”.

If someone here on the comments said Stanford was Ivy League, then yes it matters (correcting someone). You think he could’ve easily worked in the US & gotten more pay than he does in Korea? When I was saying million (about 937.7 million won) or two per year I was saying that in terms of US Dollars (that’s how much upper end kpop stars make, some can go up as high as 6-7 million). Finding a job in the US where you can make a million or two annually isn’t easy. Also, the dollar is becoming weaker. Two years ago when the exchange rate was 1250 won for 1 Dollar if you invested $100k US, it would be 1.25 million won. If you cash out now with the exchange rate of 937 won for 1 dollar it would be worth $133k US (profit of $33,000).

@cjlatina
I know what your sayin’, but when he gets older he can fall back on that you know what I mean? Tablo writes music, and thats putting his education to work big time because writing a good song isn’t easy. I mean it’s easy to write a song, but to write a song that is very meaningful is hard.
Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not upset at you or anyone else on here. I’m just saying what I think and I understand and respect your comment =)
As for being a teacher… I wouldn’t want to be a teacher in America, I’d rather be a teacher overseas somewhere, because students have more respect for teachers.

Also, one more thing. I heard that soon in Korea, Japan, and China American money won’t be worth sh!t… But each year the rates do change so I’m not sure =\

but i think he learned his lesson… that he cannot pull through without his buddies. because all three of them worked hard, epik high was able to come out on top. and without one of them there, the scene can not be as good as it used to be.

I think the public has a very distorted perception of celebrities, especially those in Asia.  I don’t know Tablo personally nor have I ever met him, but I do know his music and it’s damn good.  If I had half his talent, I’d be arrogant too.

Anyway, people are entitled to think however they want but judging someone you don’t even really know and having seen them only from a distance doesn’t give you very much credibility judgment-wise.

Tablo?!?! Arrogant?!?! Leaving Epik High!?!? Who starts these rumors? Pieces pt 2 is still in the making. Seriously Tablo has no intent to leave. Sure he’s done more collabs than any other member but Mithra and Tukutz have done separate collabs too. and plus Tukutz has taken the spotlight since Pieces pt 1 The three even talked about their popularity levels on an interview with Yoon Do Hyun. Seriously man get your facts straight and don’t believe every rumor you hear
