Choi Jin Shil's children accept harsh reality

It has already been more than a year since the late Choi Jin Shil left us in a tragic manner.

So how are her two precious children, Hwanhee and Joonhee getting along? They were recently seen paying their respects to their mother at the tombstone for her death anniversary and looked pretty bubbly.

An interview was done with Choi Jin Shil's mother, Jeong Ok Sun recently, who is now tasked with bringing up the two young children. Since their mother's death, Hwanhee and Joonhee have moved to Nonsan, which they call their 'grandma's house'. They decided to move the children to a new surrounding because their old home was simply too big and most importantly, it reminded them badly of the unfortunate incident then.

Choi Jin Shil's children accepts harsh reality

Smiles have gradually returned to the faces of the two children since the change in enviroment. Hwanhee's form teacher in school recently sent a letter saying, "Hwanhee has a cheerful personality and hugely popular in school," which has settled Choi Jin Shil's mother heart at ease. She added that Joonhee's results at school are very good and is relieved to know that she is a very eager attitude towards things.

Choi Jin Shil's mother said, "Joonhee resembles her mum which is a really blessed thing. She is a very understanding girl and is a good observer of her surroundings. Her mother had said before that Joonhee never threw a tantrum from little. It's a relief to know that they have remained as cheerful as before."

But the tragic death of Choi Jin Shil was a big blow to the two children.

Although Joonhee was still little and couldn't understand then, Hwanhee kept crying and asking, "Where has my mother gone to?". Perhaps the truth was too hard to take at such a young age, as Hwanhee kept talking about death for quite a while while his grandma could only keep her tears insider her heart and weep.

Choi Jin Shil's mother said with a sigh, "Joonhee would suddenly wake up from her sleep and start crying. Seeing that, Hwanhee would also get up and cry. And when they cry, I also cry with them. Those kind of nights did not happen just once or twice. But as they all say, time heals everything. The children have probably buried their mother deep inside their hearts, accepting the reality that she ain't coming back to them."

The strange thing is that Hwanhee has mentioned that he has been dreaming about his mother very often recently, and it was as clear as watching a tv drama. But sadly for Jeong Ok Sun, she hasn't dreamt of her daughter even once.

Choi Jin Shil's mother expressed, "If there's something that I am worried about, it's their education. I can't be like other young mothers, and do everything together with them. But even so, I will do my best to raise them as best as I can, so that I can face Choi Jin Shil in the other world. I will be responsible for them but I am not sure If I can do a good job."

Must be so hard for them.

I know Choi Jin Shil was going through hard times, but I still can’t believe she didn’t fight through it for her children.  When will people realize suicide isn’t the solution to dealing with hard times, it only brings on more hardship for the people you care about.

Their adorable, and it’s great that their mother raised them with love cause now it makes it easier for their grandmother to look after them, and it’s also a good thing that the grandmother is such a wonderful person, hope she stays strong for the children and lives long enough to send them off on their own..

awww…. I feel so sorry for the kids and they are so cute… Why did choi jin shil have to kill herself? Didn’t she think twice about what would happen to her children after she dies?

time heals everything =)

Hideto16's avatar

aw!  the grandma will do just fine for the children!!

Rachel-Y's avatar

If her children really were PRECIOUS to her, she would have thought about them(how will they live without a mother etc) before deciding to kill herself. She would have given top priority to her children and place them before herself. She wouldn’t have killed herself if she thought about how devastated her children will be and how much sufferings they will have to go through to be able to “get over” their own mother’s death.

they look so much like her :(
i hope they can grow only stronger and make their mom proud.

@28 i agree with you but still, everyone has their reasons. Nothing can be done now anyway.

I wish the children and their grandmother all the best.

@8 I feel the same way.  I’ll never know what CJS was going through, that’s true, but whatever it was, I just can’t shake the feeling that the happiness of those two children should have been the most important thing.  I don’t know… I just feel so, so, sorry for those kids.  My prayers go out to them.

purplestar23's avatar

Awww. Good to see the kids smiling. I hope they’ll do everything with their best in order for their mother to be happy wherever she is right now.

i hate when people judge each other without even knowing what they are talking about.
u don’t know what she has been through so don’t even judge her..seriously
i feel horrible for her children..and i can’t imagine how hard is it for them..but i wish them the best

tomatomc's avatar

prayed for the children
it must be hard for them
and that are the cutest pics ever.

Losing their mother at a so young age is really sad.
And I’m happy they are smiling again.
I think children forget and accept things faster.

fangurl1991's avatar

poo kids. :( at such young age.

mangatang2809's avatar

time heals things- im glad the children are getting better now- :D

muigeital's avatar

it’s a good thing that these children have such a caring grandmother, i’m sure they will grow up happily and healthy~

hAppynote's avatar

did u even proof read ur article?

i feel bad for the kids tho.

ChangMin Honey's avatar

Such sweet kids they probably feel their Mom with them they will be fine. As long as people don’t keep bringing it up and feeling sorry for them, they have adjusted and grandma seems to be doing a really good job.

no avatar

Time really does heal. Any they were and still are so young. I got teary reading this article. They truly are surrounded by their Grandmother and Uncle who loves them dearly <3

Gwenn's avatar

It’s still sad, but I’m glad the children seem to be doing fine. Their grandma seems to be such a good person, I bet she’s doing a great job , taking care of the children.

no avatar

It’s sad but I have the utmost respect for these children’s grandmother. What a beautiful family. What a strong family. I’ll keep them in my best wishes.

pumknPie's avatar

Omgg…....... I cried reading this….  TT.TT

no avatar

education ain’t the only problem…
grand-parents are reluctant to demonstrate authority to their grand child so these children often grow up as brats…

WoAiNiHaru's avatar

Honestly this is so sad. I cried just reading about it..
I hope her children will be alright for the rest of their lives
something so terrible.. i give them best wishes. RIP Choi Jin Shil

sayuri43's avatar

the children are so cute! it’s good to know that they’re getting on okay now

I don’t think FO is really suitable for him.

I’d love to see him back on 1N2D but if the people behind don’t think it’ll work with 7 members I don’t know if I want him to replace anyone there right now (even though he’s funnier than maybe 2-3 on the show right now).

Replacing Jun Jin on IC? Or did they already replace him?

EspadaKiller's avatar

Feel bad for her kids, too young and they have lost a mother that’s insanely popular.
