I hope that the opens the gate to inform people, and let go of some of the fears and prejudices associated with people who are different. It’s nice to see that the world is progressing and changing into a more accepting place. Although there are a few comments of ignorance on the page, know that is how it starts. First people need to be open to discussion before they even begin acceptance. No I’m not a transgender nor do I have any affiliation with them, I just think that as long as people are not harming or endangering others they should be able to live as they please. Wanna marry a man who cares, wanna get a sex change go for it. How others view and live their life makes no difference to me, so why should I try and control their happiness.

Sorry for the long post, but I really dislike ignorance.

@36 I agree lots of ignorant comments on the page. But what can you do there’s many people who were brought up with conservative backgrounds, religious backgrounds that make them prejudice against people and situations and that can’t just be changed.

Anyways, she seems genuine and to be in the contest for the right reasons. For those of you who couldn’t understand Korean, she said in her speech (before she was nominated) that even if she got dropped, she’s going to believe that it’s because her abilities as a model were not prepared enough yet, rather than because she is a transgender. She also said that she’s not going to use her own status as a peg to gain fame, but rather prepare herself in a 100% fair way to win in the industry.

For someone like her, it’s easy to resent the world, but she seems to be extremely mature in harboring only good feelings and having optimism and trust in both herself and the system (or society, or whatever).

If she were a relenting, angry, resentful trannie, then people might be able to hate her, but in her current super-humble, optimistic mindset, I think anyone who puts her down is really putting himself down.
