How is it doing in Japan? All F4+GHS went there to promote BOF, but I heard nothing about the rate.

@60. NiPK: i may be wrong, but i think BOF isn’t airing in Japan (on TBS) until the mid of June.

anyhoos, hye sun looks really pretty and i’m glad min ho isn’t looking so emaciated. it’s too bad about the ratings…but even tw idol dramas get low ratings and, like everyone else already said, a lot of ppl outside of korea watched BOF via internet as it was airing and the Taiwanese F4 was huge and sprung off big idol stars like Barbie, Jerry Yan, and Zai Zai!, so obviously the novelty effect has probably worn off by now.

At first when I started Boys over flowers, I felt it was trying too hard to top Meteor Garden because Meteor Garden is the reason why I started dramas in the first place.  I mean, when I saw meteor Garden(especially when the boys drove to school in their cars….I was hooked).....  took me awhile to get over the meteor garden phase.  BOF didn’t give me the same reaction.  It was like…“oh yeah, they did it differently,,blah blah…”  I did a lot of comparing.  I think if you’ve seen Meteor Garden,  then watch BOF, you’d be comparing the whole time too and that would kill your feelings towards it.  I kept an open mind though.  I like BOF too…. The boys are not bad on the eyes…......

as for why there are low ratings in taiwan,
big part is because they already had their BOF craze nearly a decade ago.

Hana Yori Dango > Meteor Garden > Boys Over Flowers.
I’m Korean so I was super stoked about a ver. of my favorite dramas, HYD and MG, being made in a language I actually understood.
However, BOF was incredibly disappointing and I found the original two versions of the drama much better.

well to be honest, between 3 of them i prefer taiwan and japan version.i think maybe because the story line is kinda ok compare to korean…the only one that make me watched just because of F3 except for lee min hoo..kekeke i wonder why…back to the topic, japan is the one who introduced these story and because it is interesting n yet entertaining, taiwan make their own version too but seriously, when meteor garden aired, it was like BOOM… all over asia at least south east asia…u name which country in asia who dun watch meteor garden…malaysia, indonesia,singapore,philipine, thailand,vietnam….i am so sick and tried of looking at all ilegal merchandise who had F4 in it…and because of that popularity, i believed F4 also got chance on singing for Lilo and stitch…

the reason for low rating maybe because we already know the storyline and also maybe because of some of them already watch it online…

what i’m saying here is korean version won’t have the same impact how taiwan did…to all south east asia ....by d way im not eveb chinese…and my aunt freaking love meteor garden then i show her korean version, she just watch 4 episodes…

taiwan version is so much luxury….look at their house….their cars….and everything…those who never watch it ...try to watch and u will know how different it is to korean version…even tho i dun really like barbie , just because he stole my vicky….just kidding,..at that time i dun like her but now i do like her maybe not as much as rainie ...

Besides the Korean version was all asthetics a lot of the acting sucked…it dragged…and the characters had no chemistry together…
Meteor garden was epic and newer versions can’t try to outdo it with money and eyecandy alone

I agree with 66 about Hana Yori Dango being the best version out of all 3. The F4 there had chemistry and the storyline was actually captivating unlike BOF or Meteor Garden. Japanese dramas and their good storylines =] BOF > Meteor Garden because of that damn New Caledonia and the private jet, thats just too damn balling. Meteor Garden was the worst because the F4 looked like hippies with their long hair and the wealthy feel wasn’t there.

So Hana Yori Dango > BOF > Meteor Garden

I think the low ratings are all because of the fact that the first HYD drama started in Taiwan, and their F4 was incredibly booming in popularity. So why do they need a new F4…? That may be the mentality. But hey, it worked in Japan. They should honestly bring all the Korean F4 members if they really want good ratings.

People are always getting it wrong.

TW’s rating system and Korea’s rating sytems are completely different.
An average of 3/4% for a Taiwan drama is considered to be doing very well. More than that and its considered extremely good.

But 2% for BOF which has only just started in Taiwan is a very good start and the reception over there has been big for this drama. Not to mention for an imported drama, its a great start.

They both looked overworked and unenthusiastic. I didn’t think the drama sucked that much, but Goo Hye Sun definitely needs to work on her acting. Both Taiwanese and Korean versions weren’t impressive, but I definitely prefer Barbie Hsu in the Taiwanese version over Goo Hye Sun.

As a Taiwanese myself, I also have to say the plot in the Taiwanese one - while based on Hana Yori Dango, like BOF - was more interesting and more action-filled.
Oh, and Taiwanese TV already has so many other fun programs to watch. Like talk shows, etc. And old Stephen Chow movies. No one wants to watch an outdated drama when they already know how the story goes.

Taiwan had first adapted the HYD manga to drama so it’s kinda reasonable,.. IMO the acting is better in the Taiwanese ver. than this one,.. it is just that BOF’s F4 is more good looking,..

If the three versions of BoF were to compare, I would say the Japanese version is the best acted, i also like the speed of the plot, eventhough the cast may not be as good looking as the korean F4. Next to that would be Meteor Garden, and since that’s my first drama ever, I had a little craze over the Taiwanese F4 for a short time. I really like the girl actor in Meteor Garden, I think she acted more natural and i wouldn’t cringe when I see her. (Well at that point, I thought Jerry Yan was pretty good looking too). I’ve watched Meteor Garden for 3 times now and still I find it interesting. Then I found out about Korean BoF, I thought it was great until when I saw too much facial expression on Jandi’s face, and how slow the plot went. I was falling asleep at the end of the drama and eventually gave up because it was just not as exciting as the japanese/taiwanese one…I had the same feeling as #62

I wish the BOF casts will go here in the Philippines. Filipinos love them very much. (I’m sure) They should go here! I’m desperate. haha.

ya Taiwan’s series was too popular to be overpowered by the korean series i mean they are both good
but u know the actors in taiwan one is so much more active and famous in that area so i doubt it will have much rating at all
afterall who wants to read subtitles when u can just go watch one in ur own language that is equivalent to the alternative

i never knew taiwans meteor garden was that big..someof yall talk like it was a hit in asia or something..in fact, i dont think it caught japan’s and korea’s attention at all. sorry.
