Boys Over Flowers hits Taiwan… not hard
The Boys Over Flowers virus has finally hit Taiwan and unfortunately for KBS2, the people of Taiwan are actually smart and realize it sucks the drama premiered to low ratings. So much so, that they had to call in the reinforcements, Goo Hye Sun and Lee Min Ho, to help promote the drama from June 1st - 3rd which is currently airing on GTV station. The mini-tour had lots of fan meetings and show appearances, hoping that the close fan interactions will help bump up the ratings to 2.0 and above.
If they REALLY wanted to get the ratings up, they'd ditch Hye Sun and just have the entire F4 group go and promote it - that would be sure to boost the ratings! I mean, it worked in Korea right?

like the acting in hana yori dango, love everything about meteor garden because that is my first modern drama, after é‚„ç æ ¼æ ¼, and all the couples acutally do have chemistry together, either if it was jerry+barbie or vick+barbie. i watched every episode of BOF, the boys are good looking, the girl is not bad, there are the extra story between SO-EUL couple which is the main reason i kept watching the drama. The acting was not good as the japanese, the storyline is too different (which i wonder why they even called it BOF, trying to use the japanese name to get attention?), there weren’t chemistry between the main couple. i mean com’on, i bet they added the SO-EUL because they have more chemistry (better acting) than the other two. BTW, for those who don’t care/doesn’t know about taiwan’s F4 or their recent activities. both vick and jerry have been pretty active in acting drams, and Vick’s new drama (black & white is the english name; ç—žå英雄 ） is actually really good and airing too. most koreans might find this police/gang stuff old-school but you get to see a different Vick. and the story have more sparks and unexpected (at least for the first 10 epsiodes). OH yeah, i guess allkpop didn’t take note that BOF air at 10PM(22:00) for the first airing and 9PM(21:00) for repeat on another channel. adding to people already watched the drama online, do you really think people are going to stay up to watch a drama when they know the storyline and the dubbed suck(which is what i thought, you can turn to original voice with some new TVs)? PLUS, Meteor Garden is largely promoted in the Taiwan on news, variety, and it was aired at 8PM, primetime drama period for taiwan. which is avaliable for all ages and the whole loyalty to F4 hasn’t really died yet, hence, all the new dramas jerry/vick are doing. the craze may be over but fans stayed and more fans join by their new dramas. there are many idol dramas airing in taiwan too, they’re not half bad. and you can’t really expect the same effect from BOF in korea in Taiwan. oh yeah, meteor garden is not really the first of the series, there is one japanese one way back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, i did research but rating is bad or the acting just sucked. but meteor garden is the one bring the story into the light. hence to later of hana yori dango and BOF. i heard the same company made BOF is going to make a remake of this one taiwan idol drama, “it stared with a kiss”, which originated from japanese drama too. sometimes i wish companies to stop making remakes and sequel of dramas.
