BoA to headline at San Francisco Pride Festival

BoA is really coming up, everybody!

On Sunday, June 28th, BoA is set to headline a series of performances at the San Francisco [Gay] Pride festival. The pop diva is set to perform alongside the likes of Solange Knowles and The Cliks -yeah, I don't know who The Cliks are, BUT, the festival has previously boasted performances by more well-known celebs like Margaret Cho, Kat Deluna and Lady GaGa.

I find it VERY surprising that BoA's camp has decided to let her perform at such a "controversial" (and I use that loosely) event, where there is sure to be a lot of positive and negative protesting. Regardless of BoA's on views on the cause, this is sure to be a smart career move. With all the controversy surrounding this subject, she is sure to get some serious exposure from this....

Thanks lawlietta for the tip!

Forevang31[or mayb 33?don’t remember]
how can u possibly be her fan for 13 years when she will have a 10 years career next year, ONLY? she debuted in 2000…do the math…
she is so asexual!....that’s soo true, loved itXD
i would like to know what her opinion what this is….and btw, she is not catholic, she is like most koreans are, christian, although there isn’t really a need to be following the religion so closely, like my friends who are christian, are “officially” christian, but for themselves, their beliefs are independent…oh well, unlike junsu or yunho who r praying all the time and reading the bibble[can’t spell]!O.O

Aigo…  I watched her performance at city walk & it seems to be tough for BOA in the U.S..  Like her 2n’d song & her English sounds better in it, but from her pronunciation, it seems like she is one of those people who will still have a bad accent even after yrs. From what i’ve heard of the WG speaking english, they don’t have that kind of accent; i think it will be easier for them in the U.S..  But, since BOA in the U.S. too,  fighting!!!

Hope she does well, she’s sure to get a lot of attention from this!

how can you be negative about it? lol
even if you are against gay marriage or gays, it doesn’t really mean much.

the cliks are s hitty band with a ‘transgender’ lead singer that just looks like a butchy lesbian because -he- doesn’t want to take testoserone and -he- made out with margaret cho in a MV

BoA has always given me lesbian vibes
eventhough i’m not attracted to asian chicks in the least (i like some curves) i think she’d be good in bed

“be able to be in direct contact with a community who really pumps up the “dance” music genre… “

Yup, this is the main crowd that bumps dance music, so anything entailing more exposure to them and not just asians is a good move. I credit the talent agency she signed with. but this is still a far step her making it in the big leagues is does/could serve to help build a base of support.

As for the lady gaga ish, couldn’t agree less. if you think Gaga’s a one trick pony, what could you possibly see in Boa? Lackluster vocals, “tomboy” that can dance…..how many times have we seen that already? She isn’t even the best to pull that style off.

This should give her some exposure, maybe not as much as Lady GaGa (she had crazy outfits that caught everybodies eye), but some none the less. Though, I do wonder if people are going to mistake her for a local artist, as SF has a HUGE Asian community :/

Don’t forget though, for some seats you have to buy tickets that run about $35.

This event will be good EXPOSURE for BoA. Hopefully BoA will garner some new fans after this performance. But seriously, SM/CAA or whoever, needs to step up their game and promote BoA better in the US. BoA needs to do more big events like this to get her name out there. Or else, BoA is going to go nowhere if they keep up with this lackluster promotion!

Gaga is fierce, but BoA is…well, BoA.

This being one of the better promotions SM has done just shows how much of a fail they are in the US.
CAA or SM USA better step up their game. What are they thinking, small performances here and there will really help her? It’s about the radios and TVs. America’s not Korea where performances mean a lot; it’s all about the radios.
Gaga may be fierce but her dancing and “unique performances” kill her great voice and writing skills. If she didn’t perform like she was high, and if she had a better grasp on her simple choreography, I’d like her a lot more. Regardless, she’s a great artist, and I hope BoA can follow in her footsteps.. in terms of popularity.

....Well, at least it’s more exposure for her. :| Yay for her on that part….

Interesting! :D More power to BoA!

Now to see if my parents will be able to drive me there, lol.  It’ll take around an hour to get there…

Well, her album is dance/pop/club music oriented, and gay stereotypes would indicate that this genre would be perfect for a gay pride parade.  This doesn’t seem so weird to me.

sick i live around here. and i think her company let her cause then she would have a very strong fanbase. but im surprised since shes from korea and well lets admit they dont really appreciate gays (sry but thats true)

I’ve noticed that shes has done alot of “controversial” promotions.
like in “controversial” clubs.

I hope this isn’t just a publicity “stunt”. LGBTQ issues do ask for a lot of attention. Oh well… I’ll gladly welcome her to the bay haha.

BoA is fine with gays.

In a recent interview by Reel,  BoA said she knows that gay people are really big in the music and fashion industry, and she appreciates the fact that they support her.

Gay people would totally love BoA, I’m gay, and I’ve been a fan for like 4 years.

BoA is Catholic.

BoA attended a Catholic Conference in Korea before which was held by the Catholic University of Korea and she was friend with their head who died :(, an article of the dude’s death had a picture of him & BoA talking.

But honestly, the Bible doesn’t say anything about hating gays.

GOD DOESN’T HATE ANYONE :3.

It may arouse negative feedback from the Asian media, but everything will work out just fine.

“the cliks are s hitty band with a ‘transgender’ lead singer that just looks like a butchy lesbian because -he- doesn’t want to take testoserone and -he- made out with margaret cho in a MV “

Please go look up the definition of “transgender” before you open your mouth. That’s disrespectful.
