Big Bang wants to be Big in Japan

VIP's rejoice because at 12:00 noon today Big Bang released a single in Japan. But prepared to be disappointed because it's just a Japanese remake of their song "Heaven" now entitled "My Heaven."

I couldn't find the full song but here is a teaser. Check it out:

Video Credits: gilbakk

It has been reported that all the members are currently in Japan in preparations for their new promotions in Japan (G-Dragon recently took a vacation in Europe). The old new Japanese single album is said to to have the tracks in both English (possibly the Remix in tracklisting) and Japanese lyrics. Big Bang's new single will be their first album under their Universal Records (in Japan) contract. Big Bang has been taking a long break in Korea and that won't change anytime soon. For the second half of 2009, Big Bang says that their main focus will be on the Japan market. As for their recent Japanese activity, G-Dragon recently worked with popular Japanese group W-inds while TOP is filming and doing promotions for the drama IRIS in Japan.

On June 24th, Big Bang will release three versions of a single album with one of the versions containing some DVD footage.

This is their supposed track list:
Version #1 CD
Track info:
1. My Heaven
2. Emotion
3. My Heaven(Remix)

Version #2 CD
Track info:
1. My Heaven
2. Emotion
3. Candle(remix)

Version #3 CD+DVD
Track info:
1. My Heaven
2. Emotion
3. My Heaven(Remix)
DVD with making of My Heaven music video

It seems that "Emotion" will be a new song and I'm hoping it's as good as their other singles that they've released in Japan. Personally, I prefer the songs they've promoted in Japan in the past to the ones promoted in Korea. It's like they have an entirely different feel to them. Will these singles get them the number 1 spot on the Oricon charts like TVXQ? I don't know if Japan is really into the style of music that Big Bang makes, but who knows.

Thanks to totoro for the Japanese translations!

I’m really waiting debut of 2010 for their korean comeback because in Japan we can not upload because everytime copyright ahah
And in Japan they only sing english .. only 1 or 2 times japanese ..

But I hope they make a good MV =)

Maybe this is just me but after I heard Heaven on Jap version I don’t feel it at all…
It sound like an ordinary song. The aitakute part is killing the song. It sounds sooo cheesy
I don’t know if they will succed or not in Japan, because honestly I don’t know. I still don’t know why Perfume is soo famous in Japan.
But if they want to be famous, they have to start from down bottom and forget all that luxury they have in Korea and be prepare to loose something… The thing that se7en can’t do before them..

medirin's avatar

Why would VIPs be disappointed? It’s not like Big Bang re-singing their Korean songs in English and Japanese is something new. From that silhouette image of BB, it looks like GD is keeping his long hair O_O haha

I love BB, but in Korea.
Japan is such a boring country with boring music aside from electronic; so I really wish YG didn’t follow SM steps. *sighs*
In any case, I wish them luck and I’m actually curious about Emotion.
Heaven is such a beautiful song but the lyrics seem to flow better in Korean.
Maybe it’s just a matter of getting used to it.
And I don’t know if they’ll be as successful as Tohoshinki, but the only reason for which I’m rooting for them in Japan is because it’ll somehow help them improve their live performances.
I remember when DBSK debuted, except for Junsu, they all had a lot of trouble singing live and harmonizing together. But Japan somehow helped them control more their voices and develop their singing abilities.
That’s what I’m hoping can happen to BB. Whether they get # 1 or not doesn’t matter. I just wanna see them enjoy and learn from this new experience and grow more as musicians.

sorry but i got to say , that remake some how it lost touch . same like what orenji said i cant feel it, maybe u can but i cant. it sound so cheesy because that is what JAPANESE love, they have to adapt the culture . After this we will heard comment about how cheesy BB is when they release japanese song.I agree that, BB need to start from below but to think about it why bother to start from zero when you can start from up, the path already open for you and why dont you take advantage. i really hope they do well and success^^ but i can sure that BB will not have any ajumma to chanting for them.

@candella- i agree that u said JAPAN will help them improve their singing but i think u got it wrong , they are 3 members among DBSK that have an amazing voice even b4 they went to japan, maybe not so good like now but they are not worse. unlike BB except for daesung all of them need a lot more practice than any other DBSK member. By the way, i don’t think BB need a lot of practice since they don’t need a strong vocal to sing a song like they already did . hip hop pop artist don’t need a strong vocal, because most of their song don’t need that kind of vocal.

well i love my heaven!!!

portiaisabel's avatar

@30 japan is not boring only ignorants like u would think so, no offense though, if its not for japan we wouldnt have a lot of things, i dont need to explain that.

goodluck to BB its a good, idea to break out in japan right now, when DBSK is at the top of their game, riding in the fame tail is nice.

especially in DBSK’s touring and etc.

So much less boybandish———and cheesy———I really can´t stand that.

I actually feel as though their able represent their “true” style better in Japan.

i really hope they do well. but i think it is a bad idea to go to japan right now when DBSK is all over the place at japan. DBSK is still touring and it is a bad marketing decision for them because everyone seem to focus on DBSK right now. if u live in japan, u will understand what i mean by that. if u open music channel, i bet tohoshinki is everywhere in every freaking Japanese’s music news. maybe if they go to japan after DBSK back to korea it would be much different because everyone will focusing on them .

@35 I’m guessing you aren’t a Cassiopeia since the very beginning of DBSK. I remember very well when they first started, Jaejoong had trouble reaching high notes and Changmin was not fully able to control his voice either. In fact, he was still a child. The only one that seemed to be the most secure was Junsu. Now, if we talk about the present. I have nothing to say and on the contrary to you I believe ALL 5 are equally talented.
And the fact that BB sings hip hop doesn’t mean they don’t have to keep improving as musicians. If you are an artist you should always look for perfection. Even rappers practice hard whether you believe it or not. It sounds more like you’re belittling hip hop artists.
And @36 Have you even been to Japan to say that to me?
I’m sorry kid, but when I was there I was bored out of my wits ends. I switched channels and found nothing interesting. All I saw was skyscrapers that you can also see in NYC, sakura flowers, some mountains and well nothing that made me go WOW.
But then again, maybe my hubby wasn’t a good tourist guide.

@30 Japan has better music than Korea.  Kpop has this annoying thing where if something becomes popular everyone does it.  Seeya and Younha both had good voices, but abandoned it to become popular and do crappy bubblegum pop like hot girl and 123.

Japan has awesome people like Namie Amuro, Jero, Mr Children, Southern All Stars, B’z, L’Arc~en~Ciel

@41 ; i agree .
a lot of hype is going on over in japan .
with dbsk totally dominating ,
and other groups like shinee coming ,
it`ll be hard for people to focus on big bang .
but it`s big bang , i`m sure they`ll do great in japan .
looking forward to the jap vers. and emotion . <3

Hmm… I personally like Korea’s music better in general.
But some genres of songs are really just better in Japan. Such as… well, rock.
But honestly, Korean and Japanese music are both just good. XD

i don’t think they’ll make it in japan,,there are already more hiphop groups in japan and lots of rappers who also make their own music..

dbsk made it coz they are an acapella dance group which is impressive esp in japan coz no groups can do what they can do in japan and their looks and personalities help also

and it took years for dbsk to finally make it…..variety shows is one of the most popular tool to become famous and i watched some of BB’s shows in japan and honestly they look cocky and bored all the time, not enough personality

personally, their korean style of music beats their japanese style of music for me.. its much more techno and the lyrics have a lot more meaning. ‘with u’ and ‘number 1’ are typical.. i mean, even the music videos are like that. girls, clubs, cars. and the lyrics are pointless too. number 1 is on my top played list, but i would choose lies or last farewell over those songs..

as for right now, too, since dbsk is promoting in japan, big bang should stay in korea or something.. i miss them :( better yet, they should come to america :] their music, when compared to dbsk’s music, is definitely more appealing to americans. imo. number 1 and with u would do well here =)

@43. Maybe the young generation of Korean artists is all bubbly and I partly agree.
But I’m pretty sure that the old folks are more interesting than the Japanese.
In any case it’s all a matter of taste.
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion and I’m just stating mine.
I respect yours and I’m sorry if it offends you in any way.
