Big Bang My Heaven

Big Bang was on June 28th's Music Japan where they performed "My Heaven." All members were present except for Daesung, who was back in Korea filming for "Family Outing." This isn't the first time where Big Bang members performed on Music Japan, as G-Dragon performed "Rain is Fallin" with JPOP group W-inds just last month.

I thought they did very well despite being down a member. Big Bang is doing pretty well this go around in Japan, they debuted at Number 4 on the Oricon Chart but they're up to Number 2 now. Maybe Gara Gara Go, can achieve number 1. Anyways, check out the performance below:

we all know this is just a short-lived promotion.

daesung and seungri will return to korea for their new musicals
taeyang i think will release his solo album this sept

bigbang will eventually fade after this, they are doing half-assed activities. it would take years to build a stable career in japan. yg is just kidding themselves, so much media play and not enough substance.

BB fans, its understandable if you want to support the group but pls don’t exaggerate their so called achievement.

bb’s company is doing unfair media play, they used dbsk’s name for promotion, their company name drop dbsk’s name in their article and said bb’s biggest rival is dbsk in japan. and now people are getting curious about that. totally rude and unfair.

@51: That’s probably what YG would like to do, but since they’re under contract with Universal Music Japan as well now, they probably have a legal obligation to release a number of albums in Japan, so YG can’t get away with half-assed promotions. But it benefits YG anyway, so he’d probably like to stay in Japan, since their population is several times larger than Korea’s and has a much bigger music industry = $$$$$$$$$$. Japanese promotions usually lead to more recognition in the west as well, if they manage to get a deal with some Anime production company for an OP or rack in the dough from the MANY J-pop fans out there in the west. That’s why DBSK is always in Japan more than Korea. There’s just a bigger market and more opportunities there. Big Bang are only considered rookies in Japan and yet they’ve already sold over 20,000 singles. A rookie in Korea would struggle to sell even 500 albums. Japan is where the money is at.

@ 57, you have to realize BB is riding the korean wave. even suju can sell that much and they can do that without promotion.

Loved the performance. LOL @ Ri having to lipsync Dae’s part. Gara Gara Go sounds good! The video looks really cool.

Im surprised how well they are doing. (thats a good surprise) i dont think the ranks count so much, its about album sales (25000 is awesome for beginners)  you can release a single in a week without much competition and get number1. greeen is huge they sell a lot but most of the times dont get no1 on oricon charts (maybe coz of download sales) anyway i think BB music will be a hit in japan, though i do beleive part of their quick rise is becoz ppl are more open to korean boybands and will give them a try without completely pushing them aside. good luck to them

ok….I’m VIP and I’m here to say ++++  I’m HAPPY for whatever ACHIEVEMENT right now +++++  Whether ranking no. 1 or 2 3 4 doesnt bother me.  ^o^  As long as they keep trying their best.    We should be proud of any achievement to our loved ones———No matter how someone said how INSIGNIFICANT it is——-  Keep going !!!!

They really deviated from their past hip hop style and now it just seems as if they’re catering to the audience and rehashing what has worked before. It’s a bit disappointing and saddening to watch. Fans are exaggerating their achievements in Japan, which is small to begin with. BB’s company is using surprisingly unfair tactics in order to gain more fans. And while BB say they are going underground because they want to be “true” artists, I would have preferred them going the same route as DBSK and try to change that negative perception of “idol” into something positive. I love Big Bang, but what they’ve been offering lately has kind of rubbed me in the wrong way.

they seriously need to work on japanese. they should have worked on it from the beginning instead of rushing in and creating an English album for a Japanese entertainment industry.

It’s good they’re doing good.
It’d be hard for me to remember the lyrics in Jap.

they don’t sound bad, they are doing pretty good in Japan. :D they added english into the song too, that’s good to show off a bit of their english. :D

It’s really cool that t’hey’re doing great at the oricon charts, but can some correct me? didn’t they debut last year with number 1 ?  and now they just change agency? cuz ppl are saying the are rookies when their not and is kind of confusing…

@73 - they are not rookies, those ignorant VIP want BB to be acknowledge as rookies just because they are not staying in JAPAN like now..rookies wont have mini album to begin with, as far as i know, they already release mini album n single in JAPAN.. they even have show case in JAPAN last year ...so how in the world they are rookies…plz VIP get your facts right..

Feel pity to BB cuz the want to conquer JAPAN, but then they cant leave Korea. Now, they actually in JAPAN meanwhile 2PM already half a way convert all VIPs to be their fans..So now they are torn between Korea n Japan. If they go back to Korea, all the hard work in japan will be like nowhere… so in the end they are just “nothing” in both country..let’s hope NOT because korea always will always welcome them ..but how about JAPAN? A few songs aired on a couple of TV show, doesnt show your accomplishment..they need somethng to boost at when they come back to korea.. In korea they are against 2PM & JAPAN there is Tohoshinki ...here we can see how BB will make a come back and steal back all their fans…DBSK already done that n they prove that even they have been missing like 2 yrs ,they are still own korea…can BB do the same thing? that is the question.. ability to maintain your status is so hard compare to achieve the status..maintain is the hardest thing to do

@63   BB was never true HipHop from the first place.  There were also many songs of their early years in other genres too e.g. Pop,Ballad.  But some people assumed that they were…...and will always stay to that genre forever.  Bigbang usually says that they love many kinds of genres and will try out on them by the time.    And yet we had been observing thier experiments through time…..... as seen in Always and Hot Issue and until the latest Stand Up and Remember.  They did change and try many new genres and totally made them….so called BB-ish style +++  some may find it ...... Oh No, hate it !!!  But some many more said——-Wow Love IT !!  As seen during LIES era…..people did love and got to know them more. If they had sticked to their early first album style, they wouldnt have made it this BIG in ‘Always’ later on.

@ 75 yeh yeh yeh….For those not knowing Bigbang was debuting a year ago in Japan shouldn’t be called as VIP,  Right ??  So I believe VIP already have their facts straight…..Why so serious humm ?  I’m pretty sure they can be classified as Rookie though.  Since people might consider this TIME as Bigbang MAJOR DEBUT in Japanese…..as their previous mini ablums were like the remake of their Korean songs ++ just converted them into English songs.  But this MY HEAVEN is officially their First Japanese single.  That’s it.

Yes, their performance was well done, even without Dae Sung. After listening to the Gara Gara Go song again, I think I might like it.

@35: Yeah, I totally agree. I like that they’re gaining a fanbase in Japan, but they’ll never have the same appeal as DBSK does. Big Bang does experiment sylistically, but I wouldn’t say they go through the sort of constantly-evolving phases that DBSK does, whcih always gives them a fresh sound and look. And just look at what happened when DBSK faced of KAT-TUN on the charts; they didn’t even get 2nd place. I think sometimes K-pop fans underestimate the power of J-pop staples like JE groups or Japan’s conglomerate of influential, not to mention lastingly popular, female soloists, with Ayumi Hamasaki at its head. She has something like 40-45 consecutive #1 singles on the Oricon, so even BB fans like myself must accept the fact that they’ll be obliterated in sales that week. *shrugs* Still, they have been successful in breaking into the market, which is more than we can say for the K-pop artists in America right now. . .

@77 Well…I got what you mean…...For me…..I really hope that they would be able to maintain the balance though.  As much as I love to see them in Korea…...I will only have to respect their mission in Japan too.  But personally I have a strong believe that Bigbang will focus MORE on Korea side anyhow…..As they seems continuing their solo activities in Korea too e.g Top in drama / Dae & Seungri in musical /  GD&YB; in solo albums… Not exactly abandon Korean fans yet.
