I think BigBang will be presented as Asian Buzz like DBSK did two year ago. But this is the first time for DBSK got nominated on the Music Video category.
And no, there’s no rules such as no attend no award in any on MTV (asia, japan, world). So I think DBSK still have their chance and if they are win I guess MTV staff won’t be cheap and got their speech recorded..

TVXQ is nominated for the Best Group Video with Mirotic, they are against Exile, Franz Ferdinand, The killers and Shonan No Kaze.

Bing Bang is only a guest, they aren’t nominated or going to Live Perform.

I dunno if it works the same w/the JVMAs, but in America they’ve been known to telecast performances and greetings from far away before—e.g. when U2 performed “Even Better than the Real Thing” live for the VMAs while on tour somewhere.  It’s not for sure that TVXQ will do anything like this, but it’s an option.

It’s great to hear that Big Bang will be focusing on Japanese activities.

I don’t think they really have the “it” factor to make it as big as TVXQ did in Japan, but in the worst case scenario, focusing on Japanese activities will at least make Big Bang improve in their live performances (that’s what the Japanese market does to a lot of Korean artists I notice, mainly because Japan is really strict about no-lip sync policy).

yeah, their music doesn’t cater to the general japanese public but i thought we all figured that already? topping charts would be a bonus, right now, big bang is just trying to venture out, experience new music and language. is it not a good thing that even if big bang are just guests, they’ll be representing korea?

Why should it be a big deal if they won’t attend? They won BEST COLLABORATION VIDEO with Koda Kumi last year even without attending. They’re the only Korean group nominated alongside Japanese,  Scottish and American groups for BEST GROUP VIDEO. That, by itself, is already an accomplishment!

I’m sure their 15,000 fans at Marine Messe in Fukuoka is more important- notwithstanding the fact that it was like a war zone just to secure tickets!
