Brown Eyed Girls stir up controversy again

Brown Eyed Girls Sign

Just like the music video for Abracadabra, the new Brown Eyed Girls music video for Sign is stirring up quite a bit of controversy. The music video was released only a few days ago but since then many fans have been expressing their signs of disapproval.

We can all admit that the music video does take on a very creepy concept with a SAW (movie) like mood. But many fans seem to think that it's going a bit too far, saying that the music video promotes violence and torture. One netizen even said, "The overall music video is amazing but I think they crossed some sort of line."

But can we really blame them? I too would go bananas if I ever saw Ga-In trapped in a tank full of water, gasping for air. So what do you think readers, do you agree? Was the music video a bit too much? We don't think so, and we definitely enjoyed the fact that the BEG brought something new and fresh.

ashmonstaa's avatar

I really liked it. I feel some sort of sequel.

I love the concept as I’m a huge fan of this kind of horror… But on the other hand, I still don’t really understand it raspberry

Huh, I think it’s a good music video, and let’s be honest, there have been music videos a lot more controversial than this.

~Hwannie~'s avatar

The song is good.
But very very interesting MV. xD

well the song/mv came out around halloween time, so i really dont see anything wrong with it…

I love it either way, I don’t give a crap if it “crosses a line”

haha I thought it was funny how out of the four girls, he saves Gain.  I would have done the same smile

Huh?
That was a great music video?
Can someone explain to me the problem?

JaeJoongFanGirl's avatar

hmm? I don’t know. The music video did remind me of Epik Highs MV “Breakdown” a little bit with the “violence” and such (I love the Breakdown MV, btw). I’m from the United States so my view may be different from Koreans since MV’s here can be a lot more violent then this one (But I am against violence). So, my opinion is “I don’t really care”. I think the song/lyrics are more important than the music video, but that’s just my opinion.

uh i think netizens need to chill again - i mean i don’t hear them say anything about their horror movies crossing some lines

omfg, the mv was fine ==’
some fan girls just care TOO MUCH =____=”

chanzuyaa's avatar

the song is better than the mv
but the drowing box scenes are cool :D

ghaille's avatar

People are too critical nowadays. The girls just want to present something they really worked hard for. The least people could do is appreciate it. smile

Sam21tha's avatar

Gosh!!! plz is a good song!!! I love it!!
Netizens really piss me off!!! aishhhh

Wow@people just making it difficult for BEG to get by.  I haven’t even see the video yet but judging by the pictures released and the fact that we finally have a video without a dance stage, I think they should be commended for doing something new and risky.  If anyone is actually going to think “violence and torture” is a good thing from any Kpop video then that person probably has no business watching TV to begin with because there will sure as hell be worse things out there.

i dont think it was a bit too much…
i think it was fine O.O

Once again…..JOBLESS NETIZENS, PATHETIC NETIZENS, PAIN IN THE ASS NETIZENS….!! Its just a music video and the concept was fine…..Its not like u saw them chopping of their own legs or do something gruesome or gory…! Ahhh…..PPL NEED TO GET A LIFE!!!

Plexiglass Prism's avatar

I see nothing wrong with it. : / Just because there’s violence in it doesn’t mean it’s promoting it. In fact it seems like a very sad, emotional song. Saying that it promotes violence is pretty silly to me.

Also, it’s an awesome song. <3

ilovefoodx333's avatar

I don’t see anything wrong with it o__o In fact…I don’t think it was creepy…or violent at all o___o

I thought it was really sad :[

MarshaBarsha's avatar

brilliant MV, i loved the acting and directing…alot coming from an amateur critic and expert hater like me wink people should just stop and appreciate it!

</3

Kvanne's avatar

what line did they cross? i think the vid is awesome!

honeyxswt's avatar

umm this is controversial??
and he let the 3 other girls die? how sad lol

melovekpop's avatar

netizens have crossed the line by leaving THE MOST SHITTY comments ever on ppl homepage or w/e theyre called..cyworld? why dont they ever say that ?
wannabesmart ugly creatures tsk

zz_wa_zz's avatar

OMG what’s wrong with netizen? Do they only want to watch a cute lovely MV with happy ending? or a MV with no story with singers dancing from the begining to the end?
I really love this MV. It’s something different.

SUPPPPA's avatar

WHAT?! it was a great MV

steele's avatar

Netizens get worked over every little thing, I’m not gonna worry about it. I’m not crazy about the MV, but I thought it was interesting. And for those saying they’re trying too hard, I’d rather have them go overboard than give us something we’ve all seen before.

Cieru's avatar

I thought it was fine. I really liked it actually. Netizens need to chill and grow some balls. They say THIS is crossing the line, and it’s promoting violence and torture when THEY’RE the ones who started a suicide petition. I could understand the controversy over Abracadabra but this?

no avatar

sigh….can’t please everyone. someone will always find a reason to complain

sodahead's avatar

I dunno I kinda like it. But somebody will always talk about something different.

no avatar

K, So now I just saw the video and I fucking loved it! I seriously took like a long sigh near the end.  It was great and definitely something new compared to all these other simple videos.
