I LOVE TABLO!!!! AND I CANT WAIT FOR THEIR NEXT ALBUM!!!

I have to say that i agree with what he said about how korean artist are trying to make a crossover to the american artist by basically changing who they are to appeal to the american mainstream.  He made a great point of how asian artist, instead of trying to change who they are; by which i mean, changing their music with english lyrics and trying to shed their asian personality, they should just embrace the fact that they are different.

One example is the Wondergirls.  i love those girls, and what may me liked them was the fact that their music was very catchy and interesting to me even though i dont speak of a word of korean. Their personalities and their unique presence made them very different.  By   making their names more “americanized” they begin to shed their uniqueness.  I could go on forever.  But my point is, Asian artist as well as other foreign act should just be themselves like Tablo says.

Embrace that which makes you different!

This is really amazing! I really agree with him on the fact that a lot of Asian artists are trying to become more American when they really shouldn’t. In my case, I fell in love with the Asian artists I like because they were so refreshing and different from most of the American performers. As always, Tablo never ceases to amaze. He speaks English better than a lot of my friends. XD
Can’t wait for the new album!

i admire tablo…..........................
his words are so moving.even when he’s not singing~ and his perspective of asian artists trying to make it in U.S. is the way i think…...... i mean if people here in the U.S. like korean artists they dont need to change for anyone. cuz if we started liking them when they were in korea it wouldnt matter if they cant speak english here in the US . just cause they have bad english or cant speak at all thats not gonna change our mind about them ................... we love them the way they are and always will. and for the people who’ll change their mind just cause they dont have a good image or whatever then thats their problem, that means they’re not your true fans. you should embrace what you are and who you are.

I agree that koreans in the American market don’t need to market like Americans. Franckly I don’t like english remakes of korean songs and generally speaking the original is usually best.

Tablo is such a cutie…hes very open and friendly…..and wow, his english is perfect…he uses so much logic in what he says…..and i agree with them as welll….i hope epik high much success!!!!

I saw Epik High when they were in NYC in May. Waited for hours but it was so worth it, they’re awesome (^_^) I really hope more artists from korea and japan would visit the east side of america, b/c when they come (IF they come) its usually in California. Thanks Epik High for showing the east side some love! We love you back!!! Epik High, FIGHTING!!! (^_^)v

great interview and what he says about artist crossing over is so true. i love utadah music in japan but her american album doesn’t impress me much because it’s so american and the lyrics are not meaningful unlike her japanese music, utadah write great meaning ful songs. Same as boa..i wish she were the same as she was in asia because she’s great, her voice, dancing. Boa american songs are all digital voice instead of her real voice. Se7en…i wish he’s the same as before. He should let yg produce his song or teddy..that’s why i become a fan of him because the song is unique from america and he didn’t get to show much of his dancing skill in his girls song. Wondergirls i think it’s a great idea to just be themselves. I don’t mind them changing their name as long as it’s not their music style, personalities. They come to America and present what they are in Asia and I appreciate that jyp. When people hear their songs it’s something different for american. OH it’s korean music. Anyway best luck to all the Artist.

no offense but the interviewer was HORRiBLE…his questions were uninspiring, he didnt have any follow ups or real comments to any of tablos answers-which were great btw-  and he kept saying um, like, stuff, etc. which is FORBIDDEN in any type of formal interview.. sheesh!!!! thumbs DOWNNNNNNNNNNN

luv tablo tho

I’ve been wondering what Tablo’s view on Korean artists trying to break into America was, so I’m happy that quesiton was asked. I’m so pleased with his answer because it’s how I feel too.

They shouldn’t change or exploit their “asianness” and completely become westernized. They’re fine how they are and should embrace it. If mainstream America isn’t receptive to that, then that doesn’t make them any less worthy.

If the rest of the world can listen to and enjoy English music that they don’t understand, why can’t America listen to good music that’s not in English? There’s nothing wrong with it.

UGoGirl's avatar

I’m really happy he said that about Korean/Asian artists. America is sick and tired of the same new thing. Be yourself and come with what you are! American’s will bash you anyway. We’re stupid like that… But if a lot of people want something new so…
