so i guess yg decided that catchy song prevails actual talent, seeing as how well wonder girls did. the song is catchy. i’ll admit it, but doea anyone notice how when it was time for the girls to sing it was computerized? except for CL’s rap, it all had the computerized echo to it. which sucks considering how great a voice park bom has. another sad fact is that while it’s 2NE1’s song with only big bang featuring in it, it seems like it’s the opposite. big bang seems to sing a lot more than the girls do and the catchiest part in my opinion was top singing, which is bad considering you want people focusing on the group, not the ones featured in it.

@87: I so agree with you! Though I don’t really care anymore, haters are just stupid and don’t know what they are doing most of the time. I’ll let other people judge if they’re using their sunbae’s fame or not.

Other than that, @91 and other comments on the hair style: I FEEL THE SAME WAY! I must say it’s pretty cool to have a long stick of hair on top of your head. Seems like all the crazy hair styles are on Sandara. XD is it just me or is that girl wearing a swim suit with tights? O.o

I’m not impressed with this song or this video at all. Correct me if I’m wrong but this is a 2NE1 song, right? Then why is Big Bang singing/rapping a hefty majority of it? To me it was more of a Big Bang featuring 2NE1 song. It’s very disappointing that someone as talented as Park Bom cannot showcase her true capabilities as a singer as well. Music Video-wise, Sandara’s outfit is giving me childhood flashbacks of The Flintstones. Her hair is pretty wack as well. It’s reminiscent of those weird cartoon characters and whatnot on the TreehouseTV channel my little brother watches. So again, don’t like the song, don’t like the video. I won’t go so far as to say that I don’t like the group. I’ll wait for their next song/MV to come out before I pass any judgments. I’m curious to see how the group fares when not riding on the coattails of Big Bang.

I did enjoy the video, i think i’m starting to fall for Minji- shes pretty adorable. CL is a natural performer and Dara is cute. Never saw much PB in the video which was sad.

You ask us to look beyond ourselves when you’re barely doing it yourself.

1) Instead of helping your argument you are hampering it. Yes the CF deal was important and it couldn’t have been done without Big Bang. However you fail to realize that most people were probably commenting on this since it’s their DEBUT song. Being a newbie and needing help from more experienced groups for more exposure is fine, whatever, you need the publicity. I also believe that the exposure they get from this will not necessarily be a good thing. A large portion of people probably only watched this because of the fact that Big Bang also participated in the song. The draw to listening was Big Bang, not the new up and coming girl group. This was how it was for me personally. All the memorable parts of the song belonged to the Big Bang members. As a result, there could be a possibility of 2NE1’s hype/popularity dying down once they move to new, BB-less songs. The fact that it’s their debut song and they’re not solely using their own talents to create their image and reputation is pretty cheap. I find it hard to respect a group who can’t even attempt to stand on their own two feet at the start. It’s like an implication that the group can’t even make it out of their debut successfully without help.

2)Comparing to other groups is a pain, but since you did I will comment on it. Yes, SNSD did a CF with DBSK. I believe you must have been living under a rock at the time if you think that there weren’t people complaining about it. Your comparison of the two groups is also pretty loose. You fail to realize the whole issue of this is that, again, it is 2NE1’s debut. SNSD was an established group (re: they had debuted) already by the time they filmed the CF. They already had an established fanbase and a few singles and MVs under their belts as well. So I don’t understand how you could make comparisons when the circumstances were different.

3)Ugly clothes. Ugly hair. It doesn’t matter if it was ultimately the stylist or the artist that chose it. It’s still unappealing. Just because it was done for a cause, in this case the CF, it doesn’t mean people will like it. CF or no, I still believe that they, for the most part, looked pretty ridiculous.

4)Again, I don’t think you understand the importance of the fact that it’s their DEBUT song. No, CFs do not elaborate vocal aerobatics. Catchy is what sells but its not particularly memorable. Maybe the phone will get sold, but if all of 2NE1’s songs are like this I don’t think they’re going to get very far. There are expectations which they certainly did not meet with this song. You can’t even credit vocal talent at all because half the time it was Big Bang singing or the vocals had been noticeably tweaked.

I resent the fact that you imply that we need educating. All you have been stated are excuses. It’s the CF this, the CF that. “catchy prevailing over talent ? again, i don’t think a song which involves a lot of belting will get a phone sold.” Everything you say revolves around the CF. You said it yourself, a catchy song will get the phone sold. But what does that do for the group? The CF is only the surface problem. The main and underlying problem is the fact that this is their DEBUT. Showcasing your ability and talent is the most important thing about the debut. That’s what gets people interested in you/ remain interested in you after all the hype pre-debut. It’s all about the impression you make and I believe that the impression they made was weak. If anything, the only impression I got from the whole thing was that Big Bang had, yet again, succeeded in giving good entertainment. Again, you are also guilty of boxing yourself in and fail to look beyond what’s in front of you.

It has nothing to do with being bitter. I don’t know about you but the number one thing I look for in a group is actual singing ability and talent. If they state that they’re a group of singers then I expect them to sing well. Even if I don’t particularly enjoy the person’s singing style or genre of music, if they have talent I’m not going to deny it. I’ll respect them for it but at the same time acknowledge that it’s not my cup of tea. So far 2NE1 has not shown me that they are good singers (with the exception of Park Bom because I have heard her sing before). All they’ve shown so far is that they’re good with the gimmicks.

Whether this is their official or unoffical debut doesn’t really matter. The fact is that they have debuted in some way or form and therefore placed themselves up for public scrutiny. The first impression is always the most important. Making a debut ‘official’ is meaningless if they’ve already been seen performing by the public. The ‘official’ part is just a formality.

though the song is catchy, it seems more like a BB song featuring 2NE1 to promote them (rather than a BB and 2NE1 song) because this song is really BB-lized. the girls barely have any lines and when they do, their voices seem so edited that they all sound alike. the song doesn’t show much (if any) of the girls talents. hopefully they do much better in their debut song without BB stealing all the attention.

The idiots on this site don’t seem to realize that CF songs are supposed to be catchy, and obviously the hook is meant to be repeating the name of the PRODUCT. The hairstyles and clothes are all for the product and what image the company wants them to give out for the PRODUCT. The stupid stick on Sandara’s head is supposed to be a candy stick, the colourful but weird clothing is for the colourful image the company wants. Get it through your thick skulls you retards. They’re going to debut with another song. This is simply a CF song which is meant to promote a product, which is why it’s so repetitive and only focuses on being catchy, it’s not supposed to showcase their talents. That’s going to have to wait until they properly debut. Regardless, even though it’s a CF song it seems to be good enough to compete with real songs, as it’s number 1 on several music sites.

On a brighter note, CL seems to have really nicely shaped breasts, which I noticed in her dance training videos as well. Though she looked a lot more beautiful with her long hair and seductive clothing in the training video where she raps.

i love big bang! ^^ and TOP is looking mighty fine throughout the music video. the girls are really pretty~ CL is awesome. @141 i agree and for some reason Daesung’s part gave me shivers ^^. although i kind of had the need to state my opinion:

i love color and i think the outfits & hair works well with the concept = lollipop phones. the whole thing was based on a commercial and of course you got to sell it to the people, so i understand using big bang a lot, but also bringing out their new girl group 2NE1. i don’t know how well it works for a debut, but i am pretty sure in korea it doesn’t matter. secondly, the song is extremely catchy, which again GREAT advertisement. i don’t think it brings out 2NE1’s vocal skills that we ALREADY KNOW are good. thirdly, i kind of was expecting some hardcore rap group [i don’t know why], i guess to break through from the candy pop [not to hate on any other group cause i love it all] and seeing CL rap with the YG family in SBS GayoDaejun. i am really excited for 2NE1 to perform and come out with more stuff. i love the members of the group and i really think they have the power to come out on top.

This isn’t YG Family.  Some of the comments here and the fans at soompi don’t seems to understand that this IS their DEBUT!  First time ever seeing them as a group and performing together regardless if its a CF. The image can change as well as their sound but it’s a DEBUT period. 

I don’t like it. The song is irritating.
