We’ve just been informed that Big Bang will be holding their very first world tour, titled ‘ALIVE TOUR 2012‘ this year through Live Nation.

Fans will finally have their wishes come true, as the 5-member boy band will make various stops at different cities. Our sources at YG Entertainment have informed us that Big Bang will perform in 25 cities in 16 countries.

From March 2nd to the 4th, Big Bang will open their world tour in the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastic Stadium. Following these shows, the group will tour 16 countries, 25 cities, in Asia, North America, South America, and Europe.

By working with Live Nation, the tour will be brought to a higher level in terms of the scale of directing. As Live Nation has helped world tours for Madonna and U2, Big Bang is the first Asian singers to earn the help of Live Nation with the joint investment and production team. Live Nation is recently a promotion agent for K-pop singers in 1-2 regions in America and Europe.

Live Nation’s president, Alan Ridgeway, stated, “We are very happy that we are working with YG Entertainment and Big Bang to show [our work] to worldwide K-pop fans. If this performance is a good starting point for the Korea branch we established last December, we expect it to contribute to the K-pop fever expansion.”

It’s been confirmed that the producer Laurieann Gibson will be taking the lead position as director. Laurieann Gibson is a well-known director, choreographer, actress, and creative director. She is known most recently for directing Lady Gaga‘s ‘The Monster Ball Tour’, in addition to choreographing “Poker Face”, “Judas”, and “Telephone”. She has also worked with top stars like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, and Katy Perry.

In addition, stage/lighting designer, Leroy Bennett, will help put in his efforts for the world tour as he has previously worked with Madonna, Paul McCartney, and Eagles. In addition, Ken Van Druten will work as the sound director, who has previosuly helped Eminem, J-Jay, and Linkin Park.  The visual contents producing team, Possible Productions, will also join in preparing for Big Bang’s World Tour.

YG Entertainment relayed, “We are in the process of preparing the world’s best concert with the best production team to equal the anticipation of the world fans who are waiting for the first concert they will get to meet Big Bang … With the newly released album and the starting of the worldd tour, you will be able to confirm Big Bang’s maturity and skill.”

News outlet Dispatch is reporting that Song Ji Hyo is in a relationship with the CEO of her entertainment company!

Song Ji Hyo is best known to international K-Pop fans as one half of the ‘Monday Couple’ on SBS‘s ‘Running Man‘. According to Dispatch, the actress began her relationship with C-JeS Entertainment CEO Baek Chang Ju in December of last year.

Though the couple have busy individual schedules, they managed to make time for each other in the evenings. They’ve been photographed on numerous dates in Kangnam, which included a late-night stroll in the park, a movie outing, as well as dining at local eateries.

A source revealed, “There are many negative impressions of the CEO. However, he is opposite of what the rumors say about him. I believe it was his sensitive nature that caused Song Ji Hyo to fall for him.”

In the paparazzi shots, Baek clearly acted as a gentleman; he would drop Song off at her house, wait for her outside his car despite the cold weather, and always escorted Song in and out of the car.

He was even a gentleman towards her parents. When he met Song’s mother and father last December, he was seen making a 90 degree bow; Song’s mother gave him a hug in response.

A source related to C-JeS had this to say about the meeting: “Baek has a keen interest in Song’s acting activities. Her parents were just thanking him for this attention. This was not a meeting whose purpose was to ask for their blessing for their relationship.”

The source concluded with, “They are a very cautious couple because it’s a relationship between an actress and an entertainment company CEO. All I know is that they are in the beginning stages of their relationship. I can’t comment on the rest because it concerns their private life.”

Breaking news, K-Pop fans: the Wonder Girls‘ Sohee and 2AM‘s Seulong are dating!

As artists in the same company – JYP – the two idols had a chance to become close to each other, and for Sohee, who has a naturally shy personality, Seulong was one of the few friends she had, said an anonymous source to Dispatch, a Korean news outlet.

“Sohee is such a careful character,” said the anonymous person, who knew both members well. “Although she’s been a celebrity for a while, she can count the number of friends on one hand. She’s not the kind of person to easily reveal her feelings to anyone.”

From the pictures taken by Dispatch, the two idols can be seen together giving off a romantic vibe. The couple progressed greatly in their relationship especially after Sohee returned from her American activities, Dispatch said.

Seulong was a ‘soulmate’ for Sohee, according to the source. “Although she’s part of the world’s best girl group, she’s still a young teenager,” the source revealed. “She went through a lot in the States. Seulong was Sohee’s only friend and oppa with whom she could freely talk about her problems.”

Their meetings were coordinated in secrecy, and even their other close parties did not know about their clandestine meetings. Out of the four dates that Dispatch encountered, they were all held late at night and took place in their car.

On one date, held on January 8th when Sohee returned from Taiwan, Dispatch captured the pair snacking on rice noodles and exchanging presents.

They also met during Christmas, where they also exchanged presents and went on a Gangnam date in Seulong’s car.

A representative for JYP took a cautious stance, acknowledging that Seulong was one of Sohee’s few close friends, but refused to discuss the matter further. “The company does not know about their artists’ own private lives. Especially for emotional problems, we do not get involved. It will be hard to confirm anything about any feelings other than just friends.”

Recent news on the possibility of TVXQ‘s reunion is sending shockwaves throughout the industry.

On January 22nd, a Japanese article titled, “Will Avex act as the savior? TVXQ’s reunion project” surfaced. It reported of rumors of a reunion concert at Tokyo Dome orchestrated by Avex, who was previously accused of hindering JYJ‘s Japanese activities. In light of Avex’s recent under-performing releases, it is said that they are willing to go head with this project and stop hindering JYJ’s Japanese activities. Japanese superstar Ayumi Hamasaki is rumored to be negotiating on behalf of both sides.

While the news of a possible reunion is being met with enthusiasm by fans all over the world, many are skeptical of the chances of such a reunion actually occurring. The fact that this reunion is being orchestrated by Avex instead of SM Entertainment is also a cause of skepticism.

The article goes on to state, “While the reunion of TVXQ is something that many fans are waiting, the small possibility of this actually happening is an indicator of Avex’s desperation,” hinting that Avex’s recent lack of success may be reason for pursuing such an unlikely project.

TVXQ fans responded to the news with, “While it would be great if reunion happens, it seems unlikely“, “They say Avex will lead the project but I can’t trust them“, and “I hope they stop writing these pointless reunion articles“.

On December 19th, North Korea‘s Chosun Joongang TV reported that leader Kim Jong Il had passed away at the age of 69.

Amidst tears, the anchorwoman announced that the leader had passed away from fatigue and overwork, resulting in a stroke, while on an express train on December 17th at 8:30 p.m. KST.

YTN confirmed the news by broadcasting the segment live at 12 p.m. KST today.

The South Korean military has meanwhile been put on alert following the announcement, with its National Security Council convening for an emergency meeting.

After dominating headlines for months, Kang Ho Dong‘s controversy has finally come to an end. The court has announced that they will be dismissing his case due to an absence of an arraignment, or a formal declaration of charges.

Earlier in September, Kang Ho Dong was investigated for tax evasion. He was initially laid with a fine due to a discrepancy in his numbers, but it seems that there were no formal charges or processes made against the multi-entertainer.

On December 17th, the Seoul District Prosecutor Office announced, “In the case of the fine being less than $500,000 USD (per year), the National Tax Service must file a charge of tax evasion in order for the subject to be a suspect of tax evasion. However, there has been no such charge up until now, so we have decided to drop the case as of the 16th.”

Kang Ho Dong’s fine amounts to $700,000 USD for a combined three years, significantly less than the required $500,000 USD per year. The National Tax Service added, “Kang Ho Dong’s annual fine is less than the required $500,000 USD. Furthermore, he did not commit acts of intentional evasion. It is merely a mistake made on behalf of his accountant, so we will not be charging him with tax evasion.”

Due to the controversy surrounding his name at the time, Kang Ho Dong decided to temporarily retire from the industry. With this latest development however, it seems that he can finally relax after a long battle against suspicions and rumors.

On December 16th, singer ALi held an emergency press conference to address the controversy surrounding her song, “Na Young“.

As previously reported, the lyrics for “Na Young” came under fire because they involved the young girl who was violently raped and assaulted by an older stranger. The public felt that this was disrespectful to ‘Na Young’ (the victim’s pseudonym), as it would make her relive those painful memories. The song gained increasing negativity and criticism, and so her agency decided to remove the song from both her album as well as online music sites.

In a shocking revelation, ALi revealed that she too was a victim of rape. During the press conference, she read aloud a statement she had prepared, which read:

“I’ve experienced a shame that is hard for a woman to handle, and had extreme thoughts. But, the thing that helped me get past it all was music. Let me sing. I ask of you to please let me continue singing.”

I want to offer my apology once again.

I’m not sure whether it is a good decision to hold a press conference like this when I’m a rookie singer who has just been born. However, many have been leaving accusations and criticisms towards me, so after much deliberation and discussions with my parents and my agency CEO, I decided that it was my duty to offer you words of apology once again.

I bow my head once again and apologize for evoking public criticism.

I apologize again to the girl in the song ‘Na Young’, her parents, and all her family.

I also apologize to my fans, who have shown me so much love, for not being able to live up to their expectations.

I humbly accept everyone’s scoldings and the words of many individuals, and I apologize. I also want to apologize and thank those who have supported me during all this.

I will now tell you the secret I have kept in my heart for three years, a secret that no one other than my father, mother, and sibling knew of. I apologize again for telling you so late.

I am a victim of rape.

I thought that this was a secret I would have to carry by myself for the rest of my life. However, after going through this recent situation, I told my father and mother that I wanted to reveal this secret to clear any misunderstandings. My father was very against it and told me to keep it a secret for the rest of my life. However, I believe that there is no secret in this world, and that it will come out some day.

I told my father how my intentions and sincerity for making music are now under suspicion. And so, with the cooperation of my parents and family, I am able to be here to tell you this today.

It is my wish that this crime of rape which kills an indivdual’s character and personality will disappear.

In June of 2008, I was raped by a hoobae I knew from a group I was a part of. I was cruelly abused. I was hit in the face with a fist and suffered a broken cheekbone, needing four weeks of rest to recover. I was taken somewhere in a cab while unconscious, and I was raped. That hoobae, that criminal was arrested and taken to court. During the 1st round, he received a prison sentence of two years (suspended for four years) along with 200 hours of community service. However, due to the fact that there were no witnesses and evidence, he was deemed not guilty on the charges.

I appealed that the punishment was too light in comparison to the crime, while that hoobae appealed, saying that he was not guilty. However, the same results came about in the 2nd and 3rd round. I still haven’t received a single word of apology from that person, so there is currently a civil suit going on. I believe that the best treatment for rape is to receive an apology.

At the time, I was going to keep it a secret for the rest of my life like my dad had said. However, the bitterness in my heart was not erased, and I believed that ‘Na Young’ (who had become a victim of rape around the same time) would share the same thoughts as me. So, I wanted to console ‘Na Young’, and I wanted to raise awareness about the crime of rape. That is why I put this song, which I had made during that time, on this album.

Unfortunately, my method and the way I expressed things were done poorly, and that caused problems.

As a result, I’ve angered ‘Na Young’ and her family, as well as many other people due to my carelessness, which was what not I had intended. I ask for forgiveness once again. I hope that this humiliating rape that treats women like animals, that this character-killing crime will disappear from this earth.

When your house is robbed, you can tell people about how you have been victimized, and feel some relief in that. However, a rape victim must carry this secret by themselves for the rest of their lives. I have been feeling anxious and distressed this entire time.

I will live the rest of my life fighting for the rights of women and fighting the crime of rape.

I apologize for causing so many to worry and for causing trouble, and I once again ask for your forgiveness.

It’s just been revealed that singer Lee Hyori is currently dating singer-songwriter, Lee Sang Soon!

Lee Hyori’s representative stated that it’s been just less than five months since they first started dating, confirming, “Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon have known each other for over a year, but they’ve only been dating for the past five months.”

The rep continued, “Both have a common interest in animal protection; in fact, they began dating after working for a charity album in the summer.”

In July earlier this year, Lee Hyori released a charity project single, “Remember“, which was produced by Lee Sang Soon himself. It was during this time when they got to know each other better and confessed their attraction for one another.

Although both parties have confirmed their relationship, they both emphasized that they are only “dating” as they’re still trying to get to know each other.

“It’s true that they are dating, but at this point it’s too much to say that they are in love,” said Hyori’s representative.

It’s just been reported that SECRET‘s Hyosung has fallen down the stairs, injuring both of her legs.

TS Entertainment stated on November 23rd, “SECRET’s leader, Hyosung, has been involved in an accident in which she fell down the stairs as she was coming out of the dormitory for a schedule.”

They continued, “Her left knee’s cartilage has been torn, and the top of her right foot has been fractured. Both of her legs are in a cast and 4 weeks of treatment will be needed.”

Due to the unfortunate accident, it seems that it will be difficult for Hyosung to attend the ‘Hallyu Expo Spokesperson Appointment Ceremony’ that was scheduled for today, and the ’2011 Melon Music Awards’ which will be held tomorrow on November 24th.

It’s just been revealed that Wonder Girls‘ leader Sunye is in a relationship with a non-celebrity!

The surprising news was revealed by Sunye herself during a recent recording of SBS‘s variety show, ‘Strong Heart’.

On November 22nd, representatives of “Strong Heart” confirmed to OSEN, “Sunye is currently in a relationship. Sunye recently came on the show as a guest and announced the surprising news that she is dating a non-celebrity.”

They continued, “The entire staff and cast were completely surprised by the sudden news. Everyone congratulated Sunye after she confidently confessed her new relationship status.”

Meanwhile, Sunye’s representatives commented, “It’s true that Sunye is seeing a non-celebrity male. Their relationship has neither been long nor short.” “We think Sunye made the confession because she wanted to hold some degree of responsibility in their relationship.”

YG Entertainment has just announced that Superstar K2‘s Kim Eun Bi is a confirmed member of their new girl group, whom they plan to debut next year.

Several sources told Star News on November 14th that Kim Eun Bi was recognized for her ability and potential, which got fine-tuned under her time with YG.

Although she seems like a cute, ordinary high school student, Eun Bi possesses vocal skills that carried her into the top 6 for ‘Superstar K2′. Though she’s kept her activities under wraps for some time now, Eun Bi will finally step into the limelight in the early half of 2012.

Sources within the music industry expect that this new girl group will have more than 7 members. Interest and expectations are rising high, thanks to YG’s spectacular success with 2NE1.

In a shocking turn of events, Supreme Team‘s E-Sens has admitted to smoking marijuana multiple times over the course of this year. Consequently, he will temporarily halt all activities.

On November 2nd, E-Sens and his agency, Amoeba Culture, held a press conference with reporters, where E-Sens acknowledged that he’d been under police investigation for alleged use of marijuana.

“Supreme Team, including E-Sens, has always worked hard to promote healthy music with the right attitude to bring themselves closer to the public,” Amoeba Culture said at the press conference. “As E-Sens’ management company, we deeply apologize for not taking care of our artists.”

“We will face the task of carrying any blame and responsibility for this incident, and we will continue to support E-Sens with his health and personal problems during his time away from the industry so that he can come back successfully.”

The police investigation into E-Sens’ drug use has already concluded, and the press conference was held as a way to inform the public. The investigation lasted from September to late October, and E-Sens’ test results returned positive.

According to the police, E-Sens had smoked marijuana several times since a year ago, receiving the drug from people around him. During the course of the investigation, E-Sens came clean and admitted that he did use the drug.

Supreme Team, which is comprised of E-Sens and Simon D, is one of Korea’s premier hip-hop groups, who’ve accrued a string of hits including “Super Magic” since their debut in 2009.

Sung In Kyu,  former member of disbanded DSP Entertainment group A’st1, recently revealed that he was diagnosed with thymus cancer.  Thymus cancer occurs from tumors originating from the thymic epithelial cells.  Symptoms include difficulty swallowing, a strong cough, and/or chest pain.  Typically, surgery is required to remove the tumor and recover from the disease.

On October 31st, he posted on his mini homepage,

I will confess.
I don’t like people calling a person sick.
On April, 2011, severe chest pains began to start.
I kept thinking it wasn’t anything until May.
I felt that the condition was serious and went to the hospital to take CT scans.
They told me that there was a lump discovered in my chest and it continued to the veins on my neck
I didn’t think it would be serious, I was hospitalized and I had a biopsy examination and waited a few days.
Before the results came out, they said it was one of the three things..
I found out that they weren’t good things
It was a tumor…and it was infectious…in one word, I didn’t think it became a thymus cancer tumor as it went up to the veins on my neck, making it difficult to breathe. If I had waited any longer, it would have become something unimaginable
Since last May, I had 6 chemotherapy sessions.
Since surgery was dangerous, they said I couldn’t do it…
I thought I was healthy, but a sickness found me without a reason
I’m really receiving a lot of stress and from the second half of 2009, I had a difficult time.
I had a lot of concerns on everything…I have a rare disease, thymus gland cancer, 2nd stage.
They said that it wasn’t because something (ie one of his body parts) wasn’t good. It seems the cause is stress, and they said it’s good to not sing the songs I like in the hospital for now.  Now when I sing, even though it’s hard to breathe, I won’t give up my dream…I’ll show you
As I receive treatment, I will deliver good news.
It seems I’m telling this all now and I thank all those who have waited for me and had me in their thoughts
I will make sure to return it and I will see you on the stage. I love you.

It’s just been revealed that singer/actress Han Chae Won committed suicide, but nothing was reported until two months after the fact.

On October 8th, a media outlet stated that Han Chae Won took her life on August 25th.  Right before her death, she left a message through her mini homepage which read, “I want to stop suffering, I want to stop crying“.  Many are assuming that the reason for her death lay in the hardships she endured while promoting activities as a celebrity.

Chae Won made her first acting debut in 2002 with the KBS drama, ‘Solitude‘, and participated in MBC sitcom ‘Non-Stop 3′ in 2003.  She also debuted as a singer last year with “MA! BOY“.

Netizens expressed their shock about the sudden news and are mourning over her death, as she left the world at the early age of 26.  Our hearts go out to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

On October 7th, actor Kim Jae Won revealed that he has withdrawn from his drama project, “I’m a Flower Too“, due to a severe shoulder injury.

The star was involved in a motorcycle accident on the 4th while filming a scene, which resulted in a dislocated shoulder. He was immediately taken to the emergency room, but further examinations stated that a major surgery could be required.

A representative of the actor revealed, “He won’t be able to move his shoulder for four weeks. A major surgical operation might be necessary.”

The actor’s decision has put the production staff in a state of panic. They’re said to be frantically searching for a replacement in order to resume scheduled shoots. The producers have only one month remaining before the drama’s first broadcast.

The news comes as a disappointment not just for Kim Jae Won’s fans, but for Lee Ji Ah‘s as well. This drama was supposed to be the comeback production for his female co-star, but with the withdrawal of its male lead and a looming deadline, many are becoming concerned that “I’m a Flower Too” may not be able to take flight at all.

It’s just been reported that Big Bang‘s leader G-Dragon has been caught by authorities for smoking marijuana.

“We indicted G-Dragon on the charges of smoking marijuana,” said a representative for the Seoul police on October 5th.

According to investigators, G-Dragon had smoked marijuana sometime in the middle of May this year, and had taken a drug test in July. Although the results had come back negative with an initial urine test, further tests overturned that decision, and he had confessed at the time that he had been taking the drug at a Japanese club when he had visited the country for a concert.

“I smoked a cigarette that someone had given me at a club,” G-Dragon said. “The smell was somewhat different from that of a regular cigarette so I was slightly suspicious that it was marijuana, but it is true that I smoked it,” he said.

According to investigators, since the amount of marijuana was so small and G-Dragon had no prior offences, they decided to give him a warning.

SNSD‘s “The Boys” comeback might be delayed, as it’s just been revealed that SM Entertainment was contacted by distributors saying that the release must be postponed.

A representative of an album sales company spoke through BNT News and revealed, “It is true.  On September 30th, there was sudden contact from the distributors that the album will be delayed. A set date has not been confirmed yet.”

One online album distribution site sent out apology texts to fans who had pre-ordered the album by writing, “Internal issues with the company has caused the release of SNSD’s third album to be delayed to mid-October.”

On the sudden change of plans, SM Entertainment replied, “Nothing has been set in stone yet.  The situation has not been organized.”

We’ve just received some amazing news — the Free NYC K-Pop Concert has been confirmed once again!

A concert organizer revealed exclusively to allkpop today that they had finally secured Overpeck Park in New Jersey for their venue. The free concert was on the verge of cancellation due to capacity issues, but it seems that’s blown over for now.

Organized by KBS, the Free NYC K-Pop Concert will be part of ‘The 29th Korean Festival’, ‘The 15th Agro Exhibition’, and ‘The 20th Anniversary UN Admission New York Korea Festival’. This two-day event will focus on Korean culture on the first day, and be entirely dedicated to K-Pop on the second day.

Not only will the concert see performances from the hottest K-Pop stars, but there’ll also be a special mystery guest who’s only going by ‘Mister K-Pop Idol’ for now!

Christine J. Productions, in partnership with KBS, is the official coordinator of the “2011 KBS Concert at the New York Korean Festival” Thanks to Christine J Productions for arranging a free concert for all the fans to enjoy!

Kang Ho Dong, who was recently involved in a tax evasion controversy, has announced that he will temporary retire from the entertainment industry.

On September 9th, an emergency press conference was called at the Seoul Garden Hotel, where Kang Ho Dong stated, “I’m sorry for causing the public to worry. From this moment, I will temporary retire from the entertainment industry.”

Shedding tears, he continued, “I would like to sincerely apologize to the public for the recent tax scandal.” He then stood up and bowed deeply to the audience.

Kang Ho Dong stated, “I wrestled when I was young. When I was a professional wrestler, I even received the “man of great strength” title with the public’s support. After becoming an entertainer, I landed MC positions on many programs thanks to the high level of interest the public had in me. Without your love, I know that the Kang Ho Dong today would not exist. Knowing this, I have let down and disappointed you.”

“The tax problem is my fault for not thoroughly managing myself. I’m quite aware that the public’s hate for me right now is great. I’m a person who has a job as an entertainer. My duty is to give viewers laughter and happiness through the TV. In a situation like this, how can I shamelessly laugh and talk on TV?”

Kang Ho Dong continued, “From this moment on, I will be temporarily retiring from the entertainment business.”

“I will be taking this conference as an opportunity to tell my viewers that I will be tentatively retiring from the industry. I will discuss with the producers of the programs I am a part of to negotiate my leave without any losses suffered on their part.”

“After I retire, I will be reflecting on my actions and looking back on whether I was too assured of my high fame. I would like to apologize once again for causing a disturbance to society.”

Meanwhile, the Korean Taxpayers Union submitted a bill of indictment, accusing the National Tax Service for releasing personal information to the public. The K-Pop fandom was thrown into turmoil when news leaked out earlier, claiming that KARA‘s Goo Hara and B2ST‘s Junhyung were no longer a couple.

Although the reports seemed to have been verified by insiders at the time, both agencies quickly refuted the allegation, resulting in the curious case of agencies actually denying that a couple was not dating.

“After checking, the two of them are still meeting. We cannot understand how these articles came to be. The rumors of their breakup have no footing in truth,” said a representative for KARA.

Cube Entertainment echoed the above message, saying, “Although we haven’t checked with him, we haven’t heard anything about their potential split. As far as we are aware, they are still dating.”

A few minutes later, Junhyung replied with his own statement, “I am still in a relationship with Goo Hara. I think the rumors came about since we have had less time to meet each other.”
