A woman set herself on fire in response to her husband who tried to prevent her from drunk driving.

According to the Gangneung police on March 2, Mrs. Kim (36) was rushed to the Gangneung hospital for a 2nd-degree burn on her face and back.

It's reported that Mrs. Kim and her husband Mr. Choi (42) stopped by the infrastructure center they own after having several drinks. When Mrs. Kim tried to drive home, Mr. Choi confiscated her keys and demanded her to call a designated driver.

Unable to resist her anger, Mrs. Choi brought out the oil from the infrastructure center and lit her body on fire.

The fire was put down shortly by her husband but Mrs. Kim gave herself a 2nd-degree burn and a sofa in the center was burnt down.

Currently, Mr. Choi is under investigation.

I've a feeling there's more to this story, so I'm glad the police are doing an investigation. I'm not saying the husband is guilty or innocent, and I'm also not vindicating the woman. But something further happened here than just a simple tantrum over some car keys. Whether the husband did something, or if the woman had some underlying issues which were exacerbated by drinking so much is yet to be seen. But it's important that they do an investigation to be certain as to just what went down with all of this- regardless of who is at fault, there's just something not right about her simply lighting herself ablaze over not being able to drive. Again, not pointing a finger at anyone (although it's obviously got to be one or the other), but it's clear they don't have the full picture here which is why they're doing an investigation. Poor woman, I hope the scarring, both physical and emotional, isn't too deep after this.

Imagine the husband though... trying to stop her or anyone else from getting hurts and she does that... but I suppose they think there might be more to the situation, given that he's under investigation. In any case I think they might both need a little bit of help, in terms of mental health; both because of (trauma, etc) and because this happened (because no matter how drunk you are, setting yourself on fire is not actually exactly normal behaviour yknow).
