A parent in Ulsan has been arrested for attacking his son's bully.

According to the Ulsan Department of Education's official statement, released on December 13, the parent entered his son's elementary school on November 30, went to his son's classroom, and proceeded to slap a sixth-grade student's face several times.

The 60-year-old parent later explained that he hit the male student because the student was bullying his son, who is also in the same class.

The teacher who was present tried to stop the parent from using violence and called the police, but not before all the other sixth grade students witnessed the attack.

The father of the student testified during the police interview, "I was angry and frustrated that my son came home from school and did not eat because he was bullied and was made fun of at school."

The police investigation continues, and the school is offering counseling sessions for both students.

Sometimes things like this should happen epically in korea...even the their school doesn't do anything to stop the bullying

If it was me,its the only solution i can think off...atleast his child felt protected by his father even if the school dont approved it...

YASSSSS I would have don't the same. The worst thing is that in school they rarely do anything about violence like this...so it's good the parent stepped in cause they wouldn't have done anything

Violence isn't a solution but in my opinion the bully kid deserved it. Plus it seems like nobody noticed his child was suffering at school wich shows how the teacher don't care about their students well being. When a child is bullied there are obvious sign and they saw nothing.

That's not exactly how it works over there in Korea. Many times, the teachers DO notice, but honestly, given the set up of schools, there's not much they can do. For example the phenomenon of wangtta (왕따) is a real issue as well. The closest english word I could associate to this would be 'loser'. Basically, the kid who is being bullied is known as the wangta, and will be effectively shunned by EVERYONE in the class. Many times, these victims are chosen based upon their social class and such, which is also an issue in Korea. Kids will pick on them and generally ostracize them from the group- and teachers honestly can't do sh*t about it over there. I know it sucks, and it's sad, but bullying is a very real issue over there in schools, and many times there is not much that can be done for the student- these issues can lead to thoughts and actions of self harm, and worse, suicide.

ok of course hitting another person is not a good thing...but from all the articles ive seen about all that crap happening at schools in korea and all the rape and bullying that goes unnoticed (or IS noticed and nothing really happens, justice isn't really served, etc.) im not super upset at this parent? like he was angry so he was just acting on his emotions and wanted to protect his child when im pretty sure no one else really would've. like if he hadn't done this maybe the bullying would go on unnoticed and the kid could've been beaten to death or something. but anyway, i guess im trying to say it wasn't the right reaction but its very understandable. and in a way i admire the parent for taking action and showing love for his kid unlike in a lot of other news reports ive seen :/

Hmm, I can understand the parents of the bullied student, even though violence is not a solution as it will probably have negative consequences for their son (but in my opinion, the bully deserves it. I really hate people, who bully others) .. I think, that because of this the kid could be bullied more or at least will get mor difficulties to find friends :( ..

The parent did the right thing for me. As we all know, bullying is normal in Korea. The parent practically acted first because maybe he thought that the school is ignoring the problem or his child is already being bullied before. In fact, bullying also leads to suicide. The parent just saved his child. We also know that offering counseling session to the students dont solve anything. The parent just taught the bully the word fear and shame.
