The Anyang Dongan Police Station revealed on September 28 that they have booked a 70-year-old man without detention for allegedly lifting the skirt of a pregnant woman on the subway.
The man is suspected of lifting the dress of a 27-year-old pregnant woman, who was seated on the subway headed towards the Oi-do (Oi Island), this past September 27 around 6:45 p.m.
The suspect, who saw that the pregnant woman was seated in the section reserved for the elderly because there were no other seats available, reportedly asked her, "Why is a young person like you sitting in the elderly section?" When the woman replied that she is pregnant, he said, "Let's see if you're really pregnant," and lifted up her skirt.

After receiving reports and testimony from citizens, police forced the suspect off the subway at Anyang's Indeogwon Station and took him to a nearby police precinct. However, due to the suspect's heavily inebriated state, police sent him home and decided to investigate him at a later time.
A police rep stated, "We plan to meet with the victim to dig further into the case and investigate the suspect afterwards. There were also reports that he struck the victim's stomach so we are going to check whether he committed any other offenses such as battery or assault."
