A mother's cry for help to get justice for her 2-year-old daughter, who she claims was cruelly abused by her daycare teacher, was shared on Facebook on September 22.

The mother, identified by her surname Kim, had placed her daughter in the hands of a daycare center in Gwangju when she started working full-time in July. Kim and her husband, trusting that they had put her daughter in good hands, were shocked to discover bright red scratch marks on her daughter's neck when the husband went to pick her up at the daycare on September 19.

When the father demanded to know what caused the scratch marks, Lee, the daycare instructor in charge, had reportedly replied that the child "scratched herself." Skeptical that her daughter inflicted such bodily harm on herself, Kim complained of the incident to the daycare director, and the director confessed that Lee had left the scratch marks while feeding the child. Despite the director's confession, Lee continued to claim that the child "scratched herself," refusing to admit fault. Eventually, Kim reported the case to the police, who checked the surveillance footage and discovered that Lee had indeed scratched the child and much worse.

The video showed Lee shoving food into the child's mouth even though her mouth was already full of food and shaking her by the collar and kicking her for crying. Only when confronted with the evidence, Lee apologized, saying, "I'm sorry. Please forgive me." Lee even visited Kim's home and workplace and sent batches of text messages to try to make up for her unacceptable behavior.

Meanwhile, Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station informed media outlet Insight, "The case was reported this past September 19 so we're currently investigating. If the child abuse comes to light, then the perpetrator will be punished accordingly."

Really now... If there wasn't any footage, she would just keep denying this... If she doesn't have any patience and doesn't like children, she shouldn't have worked there.

Why are you even working with kids if you don't adore/have patience for them? choose a different job then! I am seriously losing faith in humanity.

I know being a teacher is "one of the worst" professions you can choose and "it's not really a job, it's so easy it's a joke" in the United States. And although teachers are more respected in Asia, they're still looked down upon in general in societies. It's a lot social and political talk that I won't get into (I previously was trying to become a teacher and was studying Early Childhood Edu.). It's a profession that either really passionate people pursue or people who honestly don't care about kids and just think they can make an easy, decent income. They don't understand the responsibility that being a teacher comes with and think handling kids is a piece of cake. With that in mind and the lack of extensive training, that I believe one should receive before being able to apply for a job as a teacher (in the US, literally anyone with a clean record can just get a teaching certificate and become a teacher.), many people who become teachers end up despising their jobs and mistreat their students.

Here are some options that people might not like to think about. 1) It's seriously easy to get at least an A.A. in ECE and get the necessary prerequisites to work in a preschool program. 2) Comparatively speaking, it's not TOO difficult a job, though it can be wearing on your joints and patience. 3) Some people like to hurt the vulnerable, and what more vulnerable victims can you find than toddlers and kids who can't verbalize what happened to them? 4) Depending on where you go, you can make decent money as a preschool worker.

btw that the director only said something because the parents asked, tells a lot about the whole center....and it almost sounds that nothing would have happened, if the parents didn't pressure them...like they let her/him still work there it seems...and to come with such a simply apology....I'm so in rage
